Anime Asylum / Re: 2016 Berserk TV series: Episode 9
« on: August 30, 2016, 11:29:29 AM »
I've always felt that this section of the manga was among the darkest parts of the story for me, after the eclipse.  There is so much death, disease, and horror that I've always enjoyed about berserk.  It just feels like something critical is missing here, like what has been mentioned facial expressions, too quick, lack of original music and so forth.  I feel like i'm missing the old 2d animation and that great old series anime score from the 1990s. where is that spooky keyboard music and those dark undertones.  It certainly pales in comparison to the brilliance of the orginal anime series and the manga.  While it does take from the manga it just lacks and i will say that in the context of this anime it was a descent episode, I'm just disapointed in it thats all

As others have said, I did not care much for the band of the falcon being mention and the flashbacks, but after the interogation, I felt like everything got better, i don't know why but it seemed smoother, or perhaps its just because it followed the manga more closely.  Something felt different, like maybe there is hope, then i see the sneak peak to next week :magni:

Anime Asylum / Re: Berserk (2016) Premiere Poll
« on: July 04, 2016, 08:30:35 PM »
The Manga Monster has from what I can tell page for page book for book perfect adaptation as an anime in 2d not this bizzare CGI crap i think it went 74 episodes if I recall correctly and was well done for keeping to the source.  So obviously it can be done and done sucessfully.  Mangas are like screenplays, they are written to be brought to life.  Its really sad this is what happens to berserk, we can all hope that when this anime is done we get somekind of OVAs like with Hellsing as the OVA ended up being much better than the 13 episode series.  Perhaps the omittence of the two arcs will leave a demand for more animated material that covers the black swordsman arc and lost children.  If there is any good news, the titles to come are straight from the manga and sounds like a logical sequence all beit quick :???:

And for the poll, I will say too damp for firewood, what happened at the tree and the cgi that was so f'd up and the music was over the top at times.

many themes in this album make me think of Berserk.  This song Lex Talionis starts the album

So according to that review Rickert is like litterally missing in action till what the ending at the cave? :magni:

We don't see skull knight saving him, meeting puck, the fortuneteller lady :???:

I mean Hopefully something is explained otherwize its like hole after hole for plot!
Its lame as those scenes I think are vital and do not take up much screentime.

They add a cameo of puck and future charecters yet those scenes arnt there!

Hey guys, I haven't seen any discussion of this, so for those who have seen Movie 2 is skull knight in it?  The scene at the beginning of volume 9 I would think would be in it.  Otherwise they are sticking it in at the beginning of Movie 3 which I suppose could work.  To totally omit that scene is just ridiculous, that is very important foreshadowing

I've found it to be a surprisingly interesting & very good show to watch.  I admit I wasn't too thrilled about it to start but its grown on me quite abit.  As for the second season, the way they ended last weeks episode has me glued to the screen to see where this show goes next.

Anime Asylum / Re: Voice Acting in Berserk Animation

I agree, I got into Berserk through the original anime with the english dub.  Berserk was the anime that got me into other anime series and mangas.  I liked the original cast, perhaps over the top at moments, but I really liked Griffith,Foss, Void, and the other members of the God Hand. And to add to that the Score was great.

Speculation Nation / Re: Is Rakshas Skull Knight in Disguise?

This is a scary and nutty topic to say the least!  :schnoz:
You Can't Be Serious, OMG.  I'm with Walter, there is NO WAY that Rakshas is Skull Knight in Disguise

Overall, I enjoyed the movie!  We all have our different perspectives!  Here is my 2 cents.

I do agree that Zodds appearence was less effective than the 1997 anime and overall the tone feels much less menecing.  My first exposure to Berserk was the first anime and that scene got me hooked as it sent chills down my spine.

Personally I liked and enjoyed the animation, nothing bothered me about it.

For 76 Min running time Beside Zodd I felt the flow of the film was good and I thought the Directing was well done, some really interesting shots, angels and cuts.

I am going to be hopefull and say perhaps things will get better :ubik:

I am in high hopes that a Black Swordsman Arc is up and coming and is done right.

I liked the idea of the 3 Arc concept for The Golden Age but What really sucks is the only way we are going to get something identical to the manga is if the running time is up around 3 hours per movie like Lord Of The Rings.  Perhaps one day we will have a live action movie that is those 3 hours long and three part concept.

All hail Peter Jackson, Please Do this and be faithful to the manga afterall the manga is literally one giant screenplay!

Bravo :ubik:

I liked that very nice addition to the recut.

Indeed that was one of many important parts of the story that was left out of the original anime. :puck:

Such a chilling atmosphere and such a crucial usage of forshadowing events to come.

A little Introduction of myself, its my first post. :magni:

I learned of Berserk the original anime by Chance and rented it off of netflix.  At the time I never knew of any manga nor did I know manga existed.  As a kid I always watched Horror films, Evil Dead, Hellraiser, Halloween, Phantasm and the likes.  I was born into Horror and Horror scores and Berserk as the anime was more epic and more mysterious, more dark than any of those old Horror films.  The anime was jaw dropping I watched it at the edge of my seat for like 2 or 3 days and at the ending I was like Oh my it ends like that.

For the longest time I thought thats it, then I started searching is that the end and stumbled accross Dark Horse Comics and picked up the whole collection that is available thus far.  No disipointments just a sensational piece of art.  I just wished I read and knew of the manga before viewing the anime as the original anime missed many areas and did a great injustice to the first three volumes.  I always felt that first anime episode never felt right and I was in for a pleasent surprise reading the manga and finding differences and the chunks of darkly fascinating material left out.  While the anime is still great the manga is that much better period.

It doesn't get anymore chilling than first stumbling upon concepts of the brand, the beherit, and the mysteries of a warrior's past.

The first invocation of doom :void:,

The First sight of the God Hand :ubik:

and its immense power and intrigue :schnoz:,

a great battle against The Count, the serpent, the forests, dead warriors :badbone:

and one crazy bad ass dude :guts: going after a endless hoard of demons :zodd:.

To me the first three volumes through to the end of The Guardians of Desire episodes is Berserk at its greatest hour.  I could go on and on but this would make for one hell of a 3 hour anime film to kick off the anime in a satisfying and correct manner.

With all the action and suspense, flashbacks to a long dead friendship (Guts and Griffith) :femto: As most of you guys have said everthing is introduced here how can you not start with this.

BTW great forum, the information and continuing effort to keep up to date with the manga is greatly appreciated and I hope this stays alive for many years to come.  Definitly a nice place for Berserk fans to get together.

All Hail Berserk :beast:
