Awesome ! Thank you (now i want to read the dialog even more  :ganishka:).
Oh, he also does the typical "not bad, we could use someone like you, maybe you could join us?" bad guy schtick. Isidro the tentacle pirate... yeah, not so much.

Awesome episode !!! Can't wait to see the dialog between the boss and Isidro.

Oh, that silly pirate captain. He tries to explain how thick and manly his and his crew's tentacles are, and how they can pierce any membrane... only to get interrupted.  :ubik:

She mentions it's the same sounds she's been hearing since the worlds merged (which she told Isidro & Schierke about in episode 313), but that doesn't really help us guess what's happening.

Peeking at the sound effects, it seems to me like the noise Isma hears faintly is pretty much the same noise that Guts and Schierke are hearing close-up? If that's the case, it's probably a safe bet it's the sea-god... Schierke says that unlike her last visit, it's actually awake this time.

Isma is pretty dispirited and Isidro plays cool by telling her to wait for them there, not to see the hideous monsters and so on. Then Schierke tells him he'd better wait there as well, destroying his impression. :ubik:

Yeah, I got a kick out of that too. Isidro didn't do a half bad job of saying something cool, either.

"Even if they ARE monsters... you probably shouldn't be watching people you know getting sliced up."  :badbone:

A shame his skills aren't quite up to the level of his mouth yet, and Schierke wasted no time in reminding him!  :schierke:

Great to see a new ep coming in three weeks, too. It won't be too long a wait until we find out what the effects of little Mac Tonight's powers are on the Berserk Armor.

I don't know, Dwarfkicker.  Whoever did the english voice for Casca sounded atrocious to me.

Subs all the way, definitely.

But honestly, as average as Casca's English voice may have been, the outtakes rather endeared her to me.

Something about her randomly interspersing "suck my c**k" into her outtakes a few times in a humorous voice amused me to no end.  :casca:

Cam Clarke is awesome, but I didn't think his voice fit well at all for Puck. Too deep for an "elf".

I can't bring myself to contribute anything else to this thread...

I had to crash out early last night. Smart!  :ubik:  Translations got taken care of though, which is good.

I'm quite happy for some Skully animation. At the same time, we've been given exactly NO info.  :mozgus:

All we can do now is hope they announce it in YA, tweet something, or eventually give a press release...

If they get the same guy to do Zodd's voice (Kenji Utsumi), I really hope they add some kind of special effects to his voice once he changes forms. I love the guy and his voice work, he's done some awesome stuff, but the choking noises he made as Zodd in beast form just didn't really make him sound very menacing.  :zodd:

So far having watched the trailers I am quite impressed with what I see so far, this series definetly has some new life breathed into it as well. I just hope that since this new show is confirmed that Susumu Hirasawa will come back and do the soundtrack again, because him and berserk went so well together I cant hear anyone else do forces. But thats only if this new Berserk is even going to have Forces in or not.

If (and it's a big "if" still) we end up getting some sort of series or OVA, I think the chances are at least pretty good for Hirasawa to provide the music. Let's take a look at the track record for Berserk properties so far:

TV anime - Kenpuu Denki Berserk - 1997 - OST by Susumu Hirasawa
Dreamcast game - Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen Wasurebana no Shou - 1999 - OST by Susumu Hirasawa
PS2 game - Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen Seima Senki no Shou - 2004 - Opening/Ending by Susumu Hirasawa

Hirasawa has put out for Berserk every time so far, over a 7-year spread. (Though admittedly his work on the PS2 game was more limited in scope.) It at least seems logical that he would continue to do so, 6 years later. But we will see as time progresses, anyhow.

New CM:

The kanji shown means "Berserk starts to move".

Gackt sez:

"Now, a new history is carved." BERSERK

Finally, a complete sentence!

Rough translation of the kanji in the title (胎動) is "Fetal Movement" or "Quickening."

Indeed! Fetal movement it is... though "Berserk Fetal Movement" doesn't have quite the same ring in English, so I searched around for examples of 胎動 with more figurative meanings.

One way to say it could be "Berserk Stirs". You could throw a "Within" after that if you're feeling frisky.  :carcus:

Bah. Jerks!  :serpico:

Also, the tweet before that amused me...

"I'm surprised by the number of overseas folks we have following (our account)."

Man, 11 pages in and we sill don't know the deal. Zodd looks pretty good. While I won't suck it's CG cock, it's done well enough for me not to get pissed off. CG does works in anime...but I think it works better in animes that have ROBOTS!

There's still time for Berserk to have robots!

Every time I listen to Forces 1.5, I think of Guts slicing up robots and dodging lasers a la PSO...

Oh btw, the text in CM2 "Berserk. ___" is different than in CM1.  Can someone translate?  Thanks!

The first one says "Berserk Begins" and the second one says "Berserk Rebirth" more or less.

We have Twitter updates, in order of their appearance. Never translated a TV schedule before, so I might need a hand with the finer details.

Here are the plans for today's CM broadcast. Fuji TV, one during 24:35 - 25:35 "Japan's Commercial Talent Academy". One during "Guchiriba" (not sure what this program is. A Place to Complain?) . One between "Guchiriba" and "24 Season 7". And one during "24 Season 7". This makes a total of four.

Not sure if that is meant to be the 24-hour clock. Last time I checked, there wasn't a 25:00. Unless Japan needs that extra hour =P

As for Yomiuri TV, one during 24:38~25:08, "Hama-chan!". One between "Hama-chan!" and "Happy Music". One during "Happy Music". One between "Happy Music" and "Yoshi Hiroshi 20th Anniversary Commemoration Special" (I think...? Had to use Google for this and it didn't help). One during "Yoshi Hiroshi 20th Anniversary Commemoration Special". A total of 5.

Actually... on late-night Japanese TV schedules, they often refer to times from 24:00~28:00 and later, to refer to 12:00am-4:00am. While I was over there I watched an anime that ran from 25:00~25:30, and it always killed me the following day. ;p

It seems kind of silly to me, although I can guess what they're trying for: something airs at 02:00 early Wednesday, but they could also technically say it airs at 26:00 on Tuesday!

Back to the subject at hand... I'm going to just withhold judgment completely on the commercials for the time being. No matter what they actually end up being, it's having the desired effect; creating buzz in the community!

Admittedly, it's hard to make much of that, but it seems to me to be saying 28, 29, 30 all at midnight. I guess it comes down to does "midnight on the 30th" mean the night of 29/30 or 30/1? This couldn't possibly be more confusing to me :???:

I can see where you might get confused. It turns out that 深夜 in this case means "late at night", not "midnight". So all the commercials should technically be coming out late-night on the dates provided.

It looks like the first and fourth commercials each air two nights in a row (28th and 29th, 2nd and 3rd, respectively), and the rest are one night each (30th and 1st). All seem to be 15 secs long. Commercial 5 is Website-only limited release.

I'm so going to be at work when these air. :(

Thank you Graywords, I like your translation much better than just getting the gist of it. Exciting times indeed, I hope we'll get that specific airtime, if not the video itself, tonight.

Anytime bud!

Also, information for all, it is about 11am 9/30 in Japan right now.  :judo:  So we have probably have a 6+ hr wait...

"Also, we are airing (commercial) Pattern B today. Please look forward to finding out which character(s) will make an appearance. Detailed broadcast time will be announced later in the evening."

But yeah, you guys got the gist already. :) Exciting times here in Berserk-land.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Ask Aaz!

You mean you think it is what he says. Not that I necessarily disagree here (I do think Charlotte perfectly understood what Griffith meant), but I have tried to equate various sounds with the shape of his lips/mouth myself in the past, and I don't think there's any truly conclusive proof of anything from the images of his lips alone (for example the second picture doesn't really look like a "te" sound to me). Especially if we're going to arbitrarily omit syllables just so it suits our opinion. Besides, that's not the exact words Charlotte uses: she says "もどってくる". And considering how they've always addressed each other in the story, it's probable Griffith would have used a more polite form.

Of course like I said earlier I'm no specialist on the matter, but neither is anyone else here as far as I know. Until an expert in lip-reading asserts it with confidence and without prior knowledge of its likely meaning, I'll settle with simply "taking Charlotte's word for it."

You're absolutely right, it was "modotte kuru". That's what I get for trying to go by memory instead of pulling out the volumes here right behind me. Bad Graywords! No cookie.  :judo:

And yeah, it's always possible he spoke a little bit more than that, like "kanarazu modotte kuru" for example, we'll never know definitively. All we have to do by is what Charlotte told us. It does end up being relatively pointless trying to guess what each frame of his lips is mouthing, but the way I see, it, Miura WANTED people to wonder exactly what he was mouthing there, or he wouldn't have drawn it frame by frame like that.  :badbone: So...

First frame: looks like an "ah" sound.
Second frame: looks like a fricative, "s" or "z", or a plosive like "t" or "d".
Third frame: looks like an "o" sound.
Fourth frame: looks like a schwa (ə) or an "uh" sound, or possibly a Japanese "u" sound, /ɯ/ in linguistics, in which they don't round their mouth so much.

So that could *possibly* indicate something like "kanarazu modotte kuru" (kA/nA/rA, Zu, mOdOtte, kUrU), but that's pure conjecture, and if someone wanted to they could probably make an argument, based on those lips, that he's telling Charlotte that the Idea of Evil is coming up from the depths of hell to devour the world.  So yeah, grain of salt, and all that.  :guts:

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Ask Aaz!
« on: August 21, 2009, 02:22:45 AM »

Now, the only reason I'm bothering answering this is because I spent a good while mulling over this very question several years ago. Why? I don't know, I just did.  :schierke: But the answer ended up being pretty darn simple.

And, I really would like to know this labial:

Charlotte says that he swears that he will came back...but this panel, if it has this structure it could be read from a japanese..I'll try to ask to you anyway, maybe you know the labial here. :azan:

Griffith is saying "kaette kuru", which does exactly mean "I will come back". Charlotte does state that Griffith told her those words. So the labials are more than likely meant to be "ka" "(et)te" "ku" "ru".

And now, back to the Aaz. I do like seeing answers to Good Questions when they pop up.  :casca:

Aahhh, I see. But I think it's just his ability to compact himself that's throwing you off. He's so cute. :rakshas:

Awww! Looking at that again, it reminds me of those toys that transformed from rocks into men... Rock Lords, was it? :p And I think there were a couple of He-Man figures that also used that gimmick. Look at me, I'm a rock!  :azan:

Would be nice if we got to see more of what Rakshas can do besides tie himself in knots, though. I can't imagine he'll just sit there through this and munch popcorn with Zodd.

Sorry if I ended up with mostly repeat observations. I skimmed the thread and read what I thought might be important posts, but not as thoroughly as I could have. :)

Hmm, I think it's more likely that he simply "glued" himself there. If you look at the page closely in episode 302, you can see that he's attached by something resembling a sort of web. It needs sharp eyes though. :rakshas:

The initial impression I got from that was more of a "popping his head out from being literally inside Zodd's wing" thing, and the "web" thing actually being indicative of the fluid motion of that.  Looking again, though, it could easily be a web instead, definitely.

I totally agree with the points you were making in the previous posts, though. :) Apart from the tidbit I needed to mention regarding the next-episode announcement, I was just firing off random observations, most of which had already been noted. Guess a little repetition can't hurt too much?

I have to admit, I was totally blown out of left field by the developments this episode, though. I had in my mind that it'd simply be the fall of Ganishka, maybe some freaky new apostle form for Griffith, but... we got Ganishka backstory, FEMTO, and a Skully coldcock attempt! Fantastic stuff!  :badbone: Dying from anticipation for the next ep.

Current Episodes / Re: Episode 303
« on: May 09, 2009, 02:17:14 PM »
Rakshas' line back then can hardly be taken as him disguising as Griffith. Besides it's clearly Femto who's overwhelming Ganishka; it's not something Rakshas could feign. So... I do think it's him.

Yeah, I don't see anything indicating a disguise of any sort, either. Definitely doesn't rule out the possibility that Rakshas interfered, though. From the way he slunk out of Zodd's wing, he may well have his own dimensional pocket abilities as well.  :rakshas:  On the off chance that's true, how that would interact with the Yobimizu no Tsurugi is anybody's guess.

3) The YA announcement, albeit not completely reliable, clearly says SK struck at Femto.

I'd hesitate to say that. If you're talking about the announcement on the last page of the episode, the exact wording is "Sono ichigeki ga God Hand Femto ni furiorosareta!" That could be taken as "That single strike was brought down upon God Hand Femto!" or alternatively "swung down at God Hand Femto". Neither the use of "ichigeki" or "furiorosu" automatically guarantee a successful strike.  (see 一撃をかわす "dodge a blow" and わずか数ミリの所まで刃物を振り下ろす "swing a blade down to within only a few millimeters of") Admittedly, the sound effect implies some sort of strike, but that does not necessarily mean Femto was hit, nor do we even have any guarantees it was Skully's blade that made the noise.  :SK:

The next line, "Could Griffith=Femto really be...!?" compliments that; people don't know what really happened. They're simply hyping people up for the next episode, making them wonder. That's the whole point of those little blurbs, psych up the fanbase. They're good at what they do. :)

Ah, nice. I didn't think to look on Pixiv, but it makes sense. Well, too bad for those who dreamed about an actual game, but I find the picture itself very neat anyway. :guts:

Yep. Downright awesome, honestly.

Hmm... guess it's time to harass the creator of the pic into being the sprite creator for an actual remake!  :ganishka:

If only.   :judo:

Hah, and he's also a redhead, to boot! Might as well be Grunny's long-lost son...
