Already seen it (BTW: The Hawks have a handcam, incredibly shittily subbed version of it available for download I guess they now have a DVD rip w00t). I'll decline to comment (I really liked it) untill some more people have seen it, not to spoil anything.

Yes, I dont think we will see guts' mother for the rest of the entire series... But guts' father is a WHOLE different story  8).

Guts had a father... Gambino, I'm pretty damn sure that thats all Miura's gonna do with the whole father thing. he already focused on the "Patricide" part of Guts childhood way too much to include another father figure this late in the story. Besides I don't think Guts would really care if some guy came up and said, "Gutsy my boy I'm ya Daddy, lets play some ball and get reaquainted!"

Yeah I think the same thing...but who knows
At least I am trying

There are some moments that sounds like latin very much but there are others that is not the case

If it is only one language now I doubt it is latin
Perhaps rumanian or something like celtic?
But I doubt celtic as far as I remember from LotR (if that language was celtic)

My brother speaks a bit of rumanian but he is in Paris and I am in Rome right now
Perhaps it is japanesse such as some people suggest, sung with a strange accent

I guess the solution would be to try and write the lyrics...thus we could be sure

See someone else agrees with me that it sounds Gaelic (Gaelic = Celtic) also, the Gaelic language very closely resembles a form of latin, so there are similarities. Wait? Didn't they just speak Elvish in LotR (Actual language J.R.R. Tolkien invented)

Nah, I think there'll be some kind of significance. And if it was smoke, the strand looking part would be rising from the head.

It's some strange kind of paedophilic fishing, mayhap?

I think with most astral projecting you need a tether in order to anchor your warward spirit to your body. Anyway like you said, this might be kind of a "fishing" thing. Summon or tear a spirit from the now not very far away spirit world toss a spiritual noose around it and throw it into the real world. So when ever you choose you can jerk that noose, and let the spirit know just how close it is to destruction.

Its just conjecture.

To me, it's a more complicated relationship than:

Guts: "I'm never inviting THAT asshole over for dinner ever again! Remember what happened last time?!"

Yeah a bit...

Anyway *spoilers*...

...when you sacrifice your humanity and everything you hold sacred to the incarnation of evil itself in order to fufill you dreams, there's generally no going back from that. Guts knows Griffiths true face, he knows his desires and goals, and having once been so close to him they have polarized as only those who share a bond as deep and close as Griffith and Guts once shared can become.

They've both changed and they both know that there is no going back now. Those bridges have already been burnt.

I dub this character, "The Thin Man" Anyway I think this is another one of Gashinka's shamans little goodies for Guts. Perhaps it could be his mother, like was suggested and perhaps her soul was summoned for intensive purpose of how much pain it would cause him, and because it may be one of the few things that can get his guard down.

As a starving College student, I have to say... I will buy a PS2, Import this game and pay for modding said PS2 to get this game, one way or another I will get this.

Anyway someone please make my day and give me a release date (for an English version hopefully, but Japanese I'll get anyway)

Side Note: Anyone know what language the song was in, 'cause I have to say it sounded alot like Gaelic to me (basically a forgotten language now adays)

Manga Mausoleum / Re: What happened to the Sword of Resonance?
« on: September 14, 2004, 04:06:46 AM »
Bringing the Sword of Resonance into existance takes Beherits, something that I'm sure even for Skully is in limited supply. Could be one reason why he doesn't always wield it.

Another reason could be becuase as weak as the boundries between the spiritual world and the real world are becoming I don't think tearing gaping vacuums in temporal reality is a good thing, and most likely niether does Skully.

And thirdly, he may not wield the SoR all the time simply because it like the Dragon Slayer is uniquely suited for a specific purpose, slaying Godhand. So frankly it may not be the weapon thats best suited for most situations so it just doesn't use it, after all his "old" blade doesn't seem to be doing to badly by itself.

This is pretty damn funny. I like the Beldandy part where she turns the Godhand into I forget who (familar though)

well, thats cause chobits is a "cowgirl" anime... of course they're similar

Cowgirl? Maybe I was absent that day but...

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: Elfen Lied
« on: September 03, 2004, 02:30:32 AM »
well, its basicly a bloody catgirl anime... but with an extra horny catgirl

I don't know. It seems a bit "Chobits" at times but I'm generaly enjoying it so far. I'm curious as to the backstory, and its generaly interesting. In addition suprisingly the anime is bloodier than the manga, that kinda unusual. All in all, I think this could all come together very well or go horribly wrong. I'll keep wathcing and see.

Speculation Nation / Re: Gaiseric's Kingdom BEFORE Void?
« on: September 03, 2004, 02:23:30 AM »
Uh where does it say that in the time line, all its says is, "1000 years ago - Gaiseric becomes the supreme ruler of several kingdoms and founds Midland". In the facts it says, "There is a mysterious link bewteen The Skull Knight, and Void, the details are not known but it is speculated to circle around the coincidental destruction of Gaiserics empire, and Voids rise to power". Again nothing about the Godhand not existing at the time of Gaiserics empires destruction.

Whats implied is that the 4 Angels that destroyed Gaiserics empire were in fact the Godhand: Slan, Ubik, Conrad and the newly acended (or decended might be a better word) Void. That the capital city "Kuniochuounochi" was branded as sacrifices for Void to become a Godhand, thus the branded skulls in Vol. 10 Pg.128. So all in all I think you may have just misunderstood what you read. No big deal.

Oh shut up, everyone knows what he meant.  ;D

Hey guess what? Majins a big boy and can defend himself, he doesn't need you to do so for him. So why don'y you worry about things that actually concern you and bother some else.

Secondly I was playing around, I didn't mean anything maliciously. Aparently you don't understand the sublter nuances of speach.

I believe that Casca was the first human touch he Guts didn't find offensive since Donovan...  I think that prety much sums it up.

Uh you might want to rephrase that, you make it sound like Guts didn't find Donovan's touch offensive... which I'm pretty damn sure we can all agree he did *understatment of the century*.

Speculation Nation / Re: DO you want Guts to live or die in the end?
« on: August 31, 2004, 06:09:27 AM »

Lets see mankind drop Buddha, Shiva, or God. The belief of mankind cannot just change. What makes you think that the men in Berserk even know about Idea? I doubt Guts does as well.

I'm talking about subconciously. Oh yeah and btw since were talking about forgotten dieties and our ability to cope without them, I imagine the several hundred (if not thousands) or dieties that have been forgotten or tranasformed into aspects in other religions (Satan anyone?), is a fairly good indication that yes we could survive the loss of a particular diety, wether it is Shiva, Buddha or God. But this is all pointless specualtion anyway since you missed the point of my post.

Everyone from Guts to Kings and Queens to the lowliest peon may not know about Idea, but they can feel its affects and are subject to its power. This "causality" comes in the form of direct representations of mankinds inner-most emotions and feelings, affecting everyone both indirectly and directly. Its this outside influence that I was refering to, and that the loss of IT, which would subsequently allow each and every person to mainfest thier OWN feelings and desires on a much more personal level, was and is what I was trying to point out by refering adaptablity in the face of Idea's loss. Its the whole "Free Will" vs. "Destiny" thing that I'm talking about, excluding the religion altogether as it doesn't really weigh into the discussion.

Btw: I'm realizing some of Berserks deeper stuff has a very "Jung" feeling to it (Carl Jung being Sigmund Freud pupil and the founder of the "mass unconcious" theory)
BtwEDIT: In my earlier posts I was refering to the loss of ideas influence amongst mankind, as it was stated earlier it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to destroy or do away with such a huge repistory of negative emotion, but perhaps it would be possible to "starve" it. Say in the form of sealing makind form its influence, making it unable to "feed" on mankinds emotions and in turn unable to affect mankinds emotions to provide it with sustance. Its just a thought.

Speculation Nation / Re: DO you want Guts to live or die in the end?
« on: August 30, 2004, 08:07:47 PM »

Man created Idea. There is no end.

So? Just because man created it doesn't mean we couldn't destroy it. In fact we may be the only ones capable of doing so. Like 10-4 said there is nothing to indicate that we couldn't live without Idea only that it would be less convient not to have humanities deepest feeling manifested for us by some psuedo psychic gesalt.

Lets face it, human kind is adaptable and I personally think that we could adapt to the loss of Idea.

Even if Apostles can do what they want, it's still probably an obligation for them to attend such ceremony's.

Kinda like reservations, or a Birthday party invitation or something?

"Fun for the whole family!"
"You are cordially invited to attend the Eclipse Pagaman-jammy-jam. Party will start at 5PM *sharp*, followed by feast of human flesh at 6PM, after party entertainment and drinks in the form of the "not-to-be missed" hilarious highjinks of "The Struggler" including the sacrifice and desecration of everything the infamous "Band of the Hawks" hold dear!

Party will culminate in what I know you've all been waiting for... the triumphant ascension of the 5th and final Godhand!!! w00t!

**Including special guest apearence by none that Skullkinght himself!**

Please RSVP no later than Friday the 13th.

See you there,

Idea of Evil
