i normally just post dates for the series, but i have to admit.. Volume 13 & 14 were really amazing, and are two of my favorite books from the Berserk series.

Yeah, it's been announced and discussed already.

the dates were said on that thread (or am i missing them ???), and i honestly did not expect to see them on that thread...

It's also about the story in the manga and not the release dates or pace, there are threads for that in other sections already.

Well according to what Chris Warner told us a while ago it should be.

Ill believe it when it becomes a fact not a speculation. Remember an issue was released 2 months after a previous issue before, and then it went back to the 3 month marker.

Video Games / Re: What's your favorite video games?
« on: December 10, 2005, 04:58:58 PM »
I have been reading about Heroes of Might and Magic 5 coming out in February. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is going to be a MMORPG?  Part 3 was amazing IMO, it was filled with a great fighting system, and an assortment of cool characters and monsters, along with really well thought out scenarios. I remember it was originally made by 3DO, they then made part 4 which was cool, and then they went out of business (or what ever happened to them) and now Ubisoft picked up the game. So if anyone has any info please let me know.

The Warriors is exactly how I thought it would be: fucking awesome.

Grand Theft auto Liberty Stories for the PSP is also now added to my list of favorite games.

Also I have to ask does anyone have any clue, or speculations on what the new Alliance race is going to be for the World of Warcraft expansion?

Because they were interested in working together? What a question...
lol well yeah i imagined that much, what i was wondering (and should have been more specific about *my bad*) was if they ever had any plans to make a series together?

They just did Japan and Oh-Rohden (sequel to Oh-Roh) in addition to Oh-Roh (Wolf King), and I doubt they'll ever do something together again.
thanks for the info. i have Japan and i really enjoyed it. i will look into the other books. its too bad about them probably not making any more books together though. do you know why they made any together in the first place?

I finally read "King of Wolves" like three weeks ago, and I am sorry I didn’t pick it up when it came out in May. I think the story is good, and the art is amazing. It has to do with the Mongol empire around 1212, and Genghis Kahn. The main character “Iba” is pretty cool. He looks like a more muscular, black haired version of Griffith mixed with Judo (at least that’s what I thought). I also have to add that even though it is a fictional story (no shit lol) I really enjoy how either Miura, or Buronson throw in some historical facts along the way.
All in all I find the book to be worth it. I was wondering does any one know if Miura and Buronson have, or are going to do anymore work together? They truly seem to complement each others work.

Atleast they are making progress... but really I'm thinking of going with the Japanese version.
yeah they are making progress, hopefully it will be bimonthly. anyway the Japanese version is amazing, but to anyone who wants to read it in English i have to say i believe DarkHorse does an amazing job.

Hey guys and gals,
Just finished this sucker.  Thanks to aaz for helping critique it along the way (I'm sure he's sick of this thing by now :guts:).
This was pretty much the kind of thing I was planning to do for the 1000th post but I was pretty busy, so I missed it.  Ah well...

Anyway I was trying to represent Puck and Evarella in a different style, rather than just stick to the style Miura has already perfected.  Pretty much all done in photoshop. Enjoy

Hi everybody,

Chris Warner here, Dark Horse editor of Berserk. Believe me, no chance we'll stop publishing Berserk. Just in the way that business is done on the title, we contract three volumes at a time, and we're about to contract through volume 15, but I'd say with about 99% certainty that we'll be with the series to the end. The books have been very strong sellers for us—especially of note since a major mass-market retailer won't rack adults-only titles, offering them only as special orders—and we're currently exploring increasing the schedule to bi-monthly (if this happens, the first bi-monthly release would be in fall 2006). If we are able to go bimonthly, I'll spill the beans here first.

Chris

Thanks Chris. just to let you know i buy a lot of Dark Horse products. such as comics from various Alien/Predator series, the Akira Series (which i will say is amazing) and a some diffrent Star Wars titles. And, i have to say that the Berserk Manga series is my favorite Dark Horse product yet. i have bought everyone of them and will continue to do so. So a bi-monthly release schedule will definitely be a great idea, hopefully it will happen in the fall of 2006.  :guts:

Yes, in the anime Guts defeats him very easily and that's it.

excuse me what i mean to type was "the fighter, who guts faced at the contest was not leading them" which made Silat such a better character, because they had time to build him up.

19
Well, I don't mind it as much when the fighters are supposed to be supernatural.  The battle with Zodd, for example, was very exciting for me.  My favorite battle so far is probably also the shortest, the Guts/Griffith duel in volume 8.  These two characters are probably the two best swordsmen in the series (so far).  Maybe I don't like new super-skilled characters like Silat because they make my favorites (Guts and Griff) seem less special.
just watch how all of the remaining manga that equaled the anime differ from one another.

on the subject of Silat, i have to say that i preferred him more than the other person in the anime. Silat's fighting techniques and weapons were far more intresting and, kind of historic. Also, i found the dialogue to be gripping, because it just added more to the already heated fighting scene.

plus I'm not 100% sure, but 99% sure, when the hawks were raided later that night in the anime. the fighter that faced guts was not leading them. on the other hand in the manga Silat in the manga was. so his charter was quite a nice build up to the scene. its only too bad that it was not in the anime (amongst other things) now I'm not saying anything bad about the anime, because it is my single favorite anime series. but, it does not stand up in comparsion to the manga.

Well, I'd much rather talk about all the things in Berserk that I like, instead of defending my opinions about the one or two things I didn't like. This is a hell of a way to introduce myself to the boards!
Welcome :guts:

since it is your first time reading Berserk, what are some of the things that you like?

And trust me it just keeps getting better :miura:

20
:schierke:
it was a joke 8). ahh well i guess it wasn't funny :troll: :troll:

anyway,

Cool, thanks for the info.  I saw on TFAW (the site Dark Horse sells their products through) that it was gonna be released sometime in January.  Now I know the exact date and can plan ahead (for what? no idea).
no problem man :guts:, ill be posting every other date in the Hurry up DarkHorse thread though.

as for issue 9, is it your first time reading it. i don't know i guess since i finally got to read and see what SkullKnight was saying in English made me pretty damn happy.

21
COULD BE A SPOILER

Noticing that only now, I just want to tell you that volume 9, 10 and 11 aren't wasted time even if you've watched the anime a hundred times. Believe me, they're worth their price.

that statement is more than right.

issue number 9 was amazing and was high quality. there is a lot of sex in this issue. plus now you can truly see how much was cut out of the anime, such as characters being changed and a few other things like the introduction of a very important character SKULLKNIGHT :SK:. its as if the anime at this point is only 75% of the full story. so if you enjoyed the anime, and want the manga in English. i would suggest to pick up. (plus there is a whole lotta sex in this issue lol  :carcus::troll:)

issue 10 is still set for 1/25/06 (the shit is really about to hit the fan) plus get ready for a few new apostle :void:

i also want to start pointing out that people should post what they think about the manga now that its a first time that a lot of people are finally getting to read it in English.

also as soon as i hear about a release date for issue number 11 ill post it.

Well then what is it? I was merely providing you with an easy escape route, as opposed to "It's superior because I heard it first", which is what is ridiculous here.

Once again it seems as if you are taking things out of context, or just completely misunderstanding what I am saying, what you are trying to do (and failing) is putting words in my mouth. So I will say it once more for you.

I never said it was superior because I seen it in English first. I was merely making the point of there is a possibility of certain people enjoying it in the language they have heard it in first. So I never said “It's superior because I heard it first” you have basically just said that.

I was in the chatroom for 20 minutes in your and CnC's company, then I went to eat, then I responded. You however were replying not a minute after I had posted, it shows in the Who's Online feature. If you just go by the time between two posts, I could say it took you 1h15 to write the last one... Whatever, and I replied to most of your long winded post in detail too, with proper spelling as a bonus. My point simply was that your post didn't add anything to the discussion even when you took more than an hour to write it, it's still true, and it doesn't mean I'm any better for wasting my time on this.
i remember, but i also said that i got caught up doing someting else while i was trying to reply. i believe i even apologized for how long it took me to reply.

what did i spell wrong? i remember using spell check, and the only problem with that is it doesn't recognize "Anime" as a word ???

Just those from the Berserk anime would suffice. I guess that means you won't watch both versions attentively nor try to back up your affirmations. How convenient. But I can only agree about the uselessness.
actually i have been re-watching the anime in Japanese, and i must say i went into it completely looking to have a lot of bad to say about the Japanese VA, and i have to say i don't really have to many complaints. i still have to say i enjoy the English version more. so i ask you this how would you want me to back up my affirmations; i could give you a brief history on the VA's past works if you would like? but then again it would be a matter of opinion :guts:
Spend some time reading the copy of volume 29 I'm sure you've bought already, then we'll talk about volume 30 (release: first semester 2006). :miura:
come on, you cant tell me you don't want the 30th issue already. oh and i know this is off topic but i went to go and pick up an issue of YA for about $4-5 and the last one was sold out? to make matters worse a few of the Japanese books stores are no longer carrying it, which i have no idea why :miura:

sorry about bring back touchy subject. oh well lets just let it go and like what we like. ^^ again sorry about bring such an old topic back up.

its cool dude. Aazealh is right when he says
Heated discussions bring life to a forum. :guts:

Yeah, your opinion is based on the fact you watched the show in English first. That's fine with me, but don't try to make it pass for something it isn't, i.e. a serious and objective analysis based on distinct criterias. You mean subjective? Just say that you like it better because it's in English. Because it's your native language. That's understandable.
i never tried to make it seem that i made a objective or subjective analysis based on any distinct criteria.

for you to repeatedly say, and for you to think the reason why i chose the English voice actors simply because my of native language is a ridiculous assumption. and, completely untrue i might add.

And it took you one hour and a half to post just to say that? Well, I did watch it like that, whether you doubt it or not isn't my concern.
it took you about an hour :troll:

Well myself of course, as opposed to you using yourself as a reference, which is what you were saying in the first place. Why, should I use you as a reference when you proudly claim not to have paid attention to what we're talking about?

Nah, it's just that you don't express yourself correctly. But don't worry, I can still understand you nevertheless.

Good idea, I wish you'd have done that before you posted in this thread in the first place though. :troll:

Artwork in the Berserk anime is far from amazing IMO. Anyway, do you have any point besides repeating that your opinion has the right to exist because it's an opinion?

Oh yes you do.

You can like the US dub better just because it's in English, but you were trying to justify your opinion about superiority of the voice actors in every aspect, so I'd expect you to justify it seriously. Not just by saying that they're superior in your opinion. What's the reason they are? Just say you like it more because it's in your native language and it'll be fine. But if you're talking about every aspect, I want a detailed analysis, yes. Take responsibility for what you're saying.

You can't just talk about every way and say that it's based on nothing, it being your opinion, it's just too easy.

well after reading all of this all i have to say is this debate is completely pointless unless i broke down every single voice actor in both English & Japanese languages. which i will not do because it is just a matter of preference like Zelz has said. i think that this debate has no more meaning. now we can go back to more pressing topics such as the next episode of berserk and when book number 30 will be realeased :guts: or even the berserk porn contest has more charm than this debate lmao.
