Done, more or less...
Left to do is gluing the base to the wood and the usual touch ups (such as trimming down the grass...). The kit will be displayed at Modellexpo 08 Open March 17-18th before being shipped to the commissioner.

Better photos to follow, of course.

Back on the horse, quite literally ... ^^

In the immortal words of Eddie Izzard; Do you have a flag?

Well, now I do.

Lining fabric for the flag + the basic shape for the flag made from sheet mesh.

The cloth was dampened with diluted white glue in order to fix the shape and keep the fabric from tearing.

The parts for the flag were cut with a scalpel.
Yes, it Is the Swedish flag.
And no, it isn't.
Basically, I found the design in the Berserk artbook in one of the paintings depicting the battle which this model kit is from.
A lucky coincidence as it ties in well with my heritage at the same time as it is correct to the manga... ;)

This. Took. Forever.

I sprayed the flag multiple times with Krylon Fixative.

Dry brushed and mounted to the pole.
Left to do is some weathering with pastels + the spear tip.

wow that kit is expensive.  was that really made from AOW or somebody else??

Like it says; AOW, 50 copies. Which explains the current price tag.
When it was released (back in 2000/2001) it was 29.800...

It is an awesome kit, really awesome and the castings are Great.
Not really sure it's worth the 64.000, but still ... awesome.

I am very impressed.
Good Work!

If you want to have a figure made to go with the Guts you already ordered, continue with the same style. The Dotou No Tonosama Casca is pretty cute (though the likeness is so-so imo).
The one Dotou No Tonosama kit that Is nice is imo Judeau, which I own...

Hi Joa, first of all I like all of your conversion kit, they look way better than the original.
Thank you.

Any idea what post would make it even better, as I might commission another Guts ---- perhaps hawk version or the berserker armor style.

Well, in all honesty .. and this is straight from the heart and my opinion, not to be taken as general judgment;
He looks like an over sized, disproportioned action figure with too soft details on armor, weapons etc.
At that scale you have the chance to accomplish something Greater, digging into a level of detail unattainable at, say 1/10 (AOW) scale, or even 1/6th scale.
Just look at the recent bigger scaled Guts 20th anniversary statues.

Now, I respect that you choose to have this made in this way, but it doesn't reflect what I'd try to accomplish with a commission piece at this scale (or any).

Technically a nice sculpt, but I am not a fan of this look. I'm sure it will be quite the conversation piece once in place, though.

mmmm, looks like Guts pack on a few extra pounds.

The head is Way too small for that body, you mean?
Yeah... Looks like he encountered a few Jiwaro Indians on his way to production...
Too bad, the rest if the figure looks top notch!

Thank you!

Horse done sans saddle bags and of course final detailing..

Basic color; I choose "red Leather":

Future + flat base and FW sepia and black layer on layer:

Metals painted in and washed with enamel/oil.
The hauberk was lightly dry brushed with a red tone and the leather details got an over haul with a few tones of different browns:

Where I left the kit tonight after detailing the eyes and the mouth:

Pants have been painted to specs and the leather parts are all done.
I attached the sword holder (for the lack of a better word) and the belt and dagger. These will of course be painted later on, as will the spurs which I have used for holding the legs.

Pants, leather details and buckles painted in and washed.

Pants will be dry brushed to a worn look and leather details painted with oils for an aged sheen.

Getting somewhere with the armor:

Flat black enamel base, and dry brushed Humbrol Silver 11 over it.
More dry brushing, now with Humbrol 27003 polished steel followed with polishing it to a sheen.
Oil washes in creases and around rivets for a rusty, worn look.
I will follow up with some dry pastels later on.

Flesh colors coming together; pretty much done and I painted it all with oils on an enamel base. Final shadowing will be done once the armor and clothing is painted.

And here's the face, and as usual Guts is pretty pissed:

The water barrel being crushed by the horse's front hoof is coming together (or apart :P ) nicely.

The hoof was covered with saran wrap and then I added 2 part epoxy glue in order to make a sturdy key. This and the magnets will make the horse really stable.
Then I removed the saran wrap and added Liquitex super heavy gel to the barrel as seen in these pics:

The following pics (and the one on top) with the clear core shows the stage at which I left it tonight, after another layer to make it more vivid.

So, The beauty of it is it dries completely clear =)

Oh, and I painted the basic flesh tones:
