Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: 2016 Berserk album from Susumu Hirasawa
« on: August 04, 2016, 07:46:33 PM »
Yep, no question. I'm getting this :) Especially because it's worth supporting Hirasawa's work as he has contributed so much greatness to this fiction in his music.

Berserk Anime / Re: 2016 Berserk TV series: Episode 1
« on: July 06, 2016, 03:14:26 PM »
Okay so having sat down and watched the first episode to this a few times, my thoughts regarding this 2016 adaptation of Berserk. Despite it's fair share of horribly glaring flaws I rather enjoyed the first episode, although parts of the Black Swordsman arc were significantly cut out and unnecessary parts added in such as Isidro serving Drinks and Flora and Schierke at the beginning I thought it was a passable attempt at bringing parts of the first volume to life.

However much like everyone has been mentioning, The Animation really is incredibly jarring and very wonky to look at. The Animation I think is going to take a very long time to get used to as this is done by a company who has had no past experience working with this kind of property. I imagine that in the hands of a company such as Madhouse I think this would have had a better chance of serviceable animation, the biggest issue for me however really is the score because I found it to be complete and total wank, the whole Dubstep/Grunge Guitar mix really feels horrible and brittle to an anime like this and it makes me miss and appreciate so much of what Susumu Hirasawa did for the original anime. Plus the theme song really doesn't help when it just sounds bland and forgettable like the score.

On a few positive notes when it does 2D animation it displays it rather well in this when it uses it to show freeze shots of the characters, I can imagine however that for an anime based off a highly detailed manga however so much detail would take eons to really process into a full length TV series which makes the production struggle to make it as good as the manga.

I do hope this show improves however because I want this to do well, Also why the hell is Casca white?

Berserk Anime / Re: New Berserk Anime for 2016

OMG guys, the narrator is the same as the 1997 anime(he was Void's VA as well back then). :void:

July can't be close enough. :D

I'm glad Unshou Ishizuka came back, which means we might see more of Void at some point. Plus since Shinji Ogawa (who played him in the movies) passed away it feels right to bring Ishizuka back, wish the rest of the older seiyu was as well though.

In regards to this new trailer that just came out, I'm a little warmed up towards the animation a little. Granted the CG for some parts still looks unappealing as ever which that's no surprise at all, the 2D elements to this are a little bit appealing and I especially like how Puck is drawn. The track by Susumu Hirasawa has me pumped, it's a shame that he is only brought in for one insert song and he isn't doing the whole score, nonetheless I am tuning into this.

Only thing to make me smile regarding the trailer all day   :ganishka:

Pretty much this, despite me willingly to give it a go this is my reaction right here.

Having seen the trailer I am still on the fence about this, I want to like this but I feel some elements of it may be a huge let down for several reasons. Any idea who is doing the animation for this season this time around because it has a sharper quality compared to how Studio 4C watered down a little bit with the original trilogy.

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
« on: December 22, 2015, 03:07:08 PM »
This will probably sound really dumb, but I have never experienced the Star Wars prequels. I watched the original trilogy growing up and loved them, but never went to the theater for those. Are they as bad as people make them out to be, or is it exaggerated? I'm still debating if I should watch them all before the Force Awakens. Thanks everyone! :)

It's not dumb in the slightest, I'd say go watch the Prequels then form your own opinion. Everyone is split between either liking them or despising them until the cows come home, That said they do have their moments and there are little elements from the Prequels that are worth getting into.

Berserk Anime / Re: New Berserk Anime for 2016

I really want to feel some level of excitement for this, however after the Golden Age Arc trilogy kind of pissed away some potential of retelling the story in animated form for a new audience I feel as though this might fall in the same category. Having heard this news I've been thinking alot recently to how everyone who was let down by the ending of the original anime from the 90's, wanting to know what happened next to be answered and resolved with a "Season 2". This is hardly anything but that since the art style and the studios are radically different now, I'm intrigued however if this does end up being something we have waited for, for quite some time. So I think we'll see, that's my only reaction this at this point.

Saw it yesterday and for the most part, I enjoyed it. It was not a great or perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination but it was a good Star Wars movie all around. Especially with how I feel by now everyone has been sullied by the prequels and everyone's resentment towards them The Force Awakens turned out to be just what the series needed to reignite the excitement the series used to have before everything became somewhat sour. Sort of excited to know where everything goes from here now actually.

New Terminator trailer.

Not much to say.

Probably the one of a few movies to dread the upcoming year, I really haven't much to say about this among a couple of things except it feels just meh.

Transformers Age of Extinction: I'll admit I was kind of skeptical about this and wanted to avoid it after feeling a very negative attitude after the last two but quite honestly, I liked it. The level of enjoyment and excitement from this was on par with the first film, granted the film is far from perfect but as a big, dumb, loud summer blockbuster I enjoyed it for what it was.

How to Train Your Dragon 2: Like the first film I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it did a wonderful job of enhancing more of the mythology in this world of these movies and how the race of dragons was expanded more and explored more types of dragon. The tone was much darker as well which made so much of this movie run smoothly for what it was given, normally I don't care much for CG animated films much but this one was one I wanted to see since the trailers.

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: Your most hated words
« on: June 27, 2014, 09:52:16 PM »
*Deep Breath* let's see...

Feels - It's the one word I always come across (mostly on tumblr) and it's one of those sayings that makes my teeth grind especially when it comes to describing having feelings for.

Amazeballs - Normally I don't mind words that describe something amazing or outstanding but to use the word Amazeballs just irritates me. Amazeballs sounds like the name of a snack that got discontinued due to the name having something to do with pornographic content, that's going a little to far but that's who I felt about it when seeing that slang.

Prego or Preggers - To describe Pregnant or Pregnancy by using that just irritates me because both those words sound more like Pringle the more you use them.

Yeah, I'm not the hugest fan of internet slang terminology in the slightest.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: How do you read Berserk?

As I have been for quite sometime, with Susumu Hirasawa's music blaring in the background to add the atmosphere. Sometimes I usually pick certain songs by him to go along with certain parts of the story so that it matches a little with what is going on.

Manga Mausoleum / Re: Happiest moment in Berserk
« on: March 19, 2014, 10:35:18 PM »
"Happiest Moment" I can really consider because this is regarding how long it took for him to really get to this position to begin with was when Griffith as was given the promoted title of the White Phoenix General by the King of the Midland and the Band of the Hawk were promoted in full. At the moment it really seems like Griffith had finally achieved his goal of power and achievement that he has been striving for, sadly it wasn't ment to be due to unfortunate circumstances. That stood out as a happy moment at least from Griffith's perspective.

Video Games / Re: What Are You Playing?
« on: February 26, 2014, 05:49:24 PM »
The first one was pretty good for the most part. Make sure you play the DLC too as it has some critical information that connects the 2 games. And if you feel up to it you can play Mirror of Fate which takes place between 1 and 2. It had some cool moments and is really short and easy.

I plan on buying Lords Of Shadow 2 soon, even though I'm a little disappointed at what I've seen and heard from the game so far. But then again I'm not expecting greatness. It's a very mediocre series.

I have looked into the DLC and to be honest it doesn't really look all that appealing, especially Mirror of Fate. Plus I really wouldn't go so far to say this reboot is "Mediocre" nothing that I have seen about it as of this moment stands as mediocre or even bland, and the trailers for LOS2 have me rather fired up anyway.

Finished Bullet to the Head today and it's actually not bad, not perfect but not bad. Interestingly enough this particular comic is abit more fulfilling than the Walter Hill/Sly Stallone film that came out 2 years ago. The story is reminiscent of buddy cop films from the 80's but at least in the comic the characters are somewhat engaging than in the film, I'd recommend it for anyone who is interested in Crime stories.

Just started up Castlevania Lords of Shadow and so far it's actually very good, Lords of Shadow 2 will be out soon so I am going through this to see where the story will conclude from there.

Finished playing Asura's Wrath, and in doing that managed to cough up the money to buy the part that has the true ending which seems unnecessary. Still the game does have a very unique feel to it somewhat from a gameplay perspective.

This has my full attention, the premise is exciting if anything else. Plus with Watanabe's style I'm interested to see how this will stand against his previous works, the dub of Space Dandy I'm very unsure of but I imagine it will grow on me overtime.

It's nice seeing Miura is doing something else instead of Berserk for a little bit, gives a chance for more creative opportunities from him. Plus the art for this is impressive on the level that Miura still has an amazing and meticulous imagination for creating his stories.

I called _what you said_ stupid. But you're really pushing me to consider expanding my original statement.

Very well then, moving on.

Why would Miura ever forget about Berserk..? The series he's been working on for more than 20 years. It's a pretty fucking ridiculous notion, and you were called out on it.  I will not call that harsh.

Fair enough, and yes Berserk is still 20 years running so that was stupid to think that Miura would forget about it. What I was trying to say was in case we would loose interest Not forget, still that's no reason to call me stupid because I got what I was trying to say wrong.

This is the stupidest shit I've seen in the thread so far. Congratulations!  :ubik:

Explain to me how what I just said is "Stupid" because all I said was it was alright for Miura to take a break from what he has been doing only just so not to forget it, Maybe what I said might not have came out right but that's a little harsh to call me stupid don't you think?
