Video Games / Re: Dark Souls III
« on: September 28, 2016, 03:25:33 PM »
Back in march,

Quote from: Vice reporter
I've the perfect chance to pitch some Dark Souls III DLC, relating to a game from his own past. Imagine, if you will, your avatar in gleaming armour, great sword in hand, so many enemies slain and then taking that character into a gigantic, mechanised version of Demon's Souls' Tower Knight and taking on White Glint. Yep, I'm talking about a Souls-Armored Core crossover.
Miyazaki laughs, of course, before answering:

Quote from: Miyazaki
"We actually released a Dreamcast game pretty similar to that concept, named Frame Gride. It's a mix of fantasy and mecha genres, both of which I love working on. I'd love to work on a game that evokes the same themes as anime series like Aura Battler Dunbine and The Vision of Escaflowne, but it would be incredibly difficult to do so. I want to work on a game like that, but other people at FromSoftware would think that would be an impossible idea."

Can't wait for a making-of though. I want a glimpse inside this inconsistent and amateurish production.

Happy Birthday to Miura-sama who reach the golden age. Take care.

I honestly didn't expect to play as any of the Falcons other than the big three.

I'm also very pleased but no so surprise because Musou games are also well known for their extensive roster.

My only fear is that this confirms that they're spending a decent chunk of time in the Golden Age, when I feel like the biggest potential for this game is the later arcs (namely, apostles...).

Unlike the later arcs, if we got different animated interpretations, we never got to played it. I think that's why i'm actually more excited to play through this chunk of the game.

I'm wondering if the content is gonna be available in a chronological order and so you have to complete a mission to unlock the next.

I feel like they're depicting Kenshiro (from Hokuto no Ken) instead of Guts. In Japanese, there's a word pronounced "fukashi". It's typically used for a man who does everything in an overly dramatic fashion, which is not how Guts is at all.

Didn't think of Kenshiro but totally sharing the sentiment. The cliche soundtrack/bgms adds another layer to it  :schierke:

People who say wether or not this animation is good is a matter of opinion is what annoys me the most when talking about this adaptation, and no amount of actual animation and artistic flaws presented as dare I say it FACT can change the fact that to them we are whiners that should be grateful we are given anything at all. Well I'll be the first to say that sometimes less is more

If somebody profundly loves and respects the work of an artist, well, he knows that the source material is complete in itself. All the rest is either a well or badly designed tie-in product.

I'm not upset, just sad for Miura and all the people involved in this inconsistent, dated, amateur, low budget, poor taste, pathetic adaptation. They even have a really hard time depicting they own vision of what Berserk is. This is tragic.

It felt like those life situations when you're stuck in a very awkward and unpleasant position.

Really like the way things mirrors themselves in the serie. I'm already waiting for another attack just in front of the treehouse and maybe a duel.

I wasn't sure who Aaz meant since I'm only nominally familiar with Saint Seiya.

In the last arc of Saint seiya we learned (it's actually more a confirmation) that this century old master was in fact a disguise for Dōko the legendary badass warrior

So yeah :ganishka:

Very awesome packed podcast. And i agree with Aaz, looking at Ged i also think about Dōko the Libra Gold Saint.

I can't not see smoke coming out of Guts' head when I look at those covers.

the more intriguing news out of all this is the re-publishing of the first episode of the series. Coupled with the cover redesign of volume 1 to match that of volume 38, it has to make one wonder what's coming.

The result is very neat and actually works really well in tandem with volume 38. Very cool.  That being said, the redesign artwork wins.

So we can expect to see a older and badass Rickert (married to Erika) retalively close to Silat and his people ?   :carcus:

Everybody knows Roderick is the most important character of the story :mozgus:
As much has I want him to stay with the group and become a much more flesh out character, indeed his future, the rest of his odyssey remains unknown. Farnese certainly don't need him to protect her. Unless he's required for dramatic/specific reason to be a part of the band, I also don't see how he could be more developed/revelevant than he already have been.

I was also looking forward to a time skip but not necessarily on Elfhelm. But the way you put it, everyone would benefit (especially Casca) and the timing would definitly feels right.
It would rejuvenate the drive of the characters/the readers as much as the pacing of the story, the serie as a whole.

With such a goldmine of revelations to come, I can't wait to see the community reexamine all the past event :sk:

Optimize the Dragon Slayer unique properties ? Never thought about that. That's a exciting possibility !
Could there be a limited magical use to this enhancements ? Maybe a way of  counterbalance story wise the possible resolve of the Berserk armor downside.

What about the next episode(s) introduce firstly the island and their inhabitants until they meet Guts&co. From what we know, can we assume our little group will be expected or it could be a surprising visit ?

Why would they be skeptical? :???:
Nervous is probably a better term. They have great expectations, so we are as readers and i can't wait to see how Miura is gonna play with those expectations.

Yes, from the current pacing, it would make sense. I already see the double panel with the Seahorse approaching the shore, the crew (especially Isidro) looking for any odd things, all being as excited as sceptical.

I didn't take what Silat said that way, though. I didn't think he meant Rickert would have to join the clan, but just that he would be willing to take Rickert to the Bakiraka stronghold because the world was now so messed up that there wasn't anywhere else for them to go.

I know what you mean bu even with Silat'statement, i imagine Rickert may be ask to prove himself in way to the clan, to those fierce warriors who ''gained'' their place in that stronghold. And that's maybe how he would use his set of skills :serpico:

The gag with the Tapasa made my day! How could we have ever expected them to be so funny?
The scene with the two of them crouching in the stable is my favorite in this episode.

That was unexpected and refreshing :ubik:

He hasn't had time to rig up something proper, so he'll probably take whatever he can get his hands on around the city. So, probably a falcon.

Agreed, he wouldn't be so sad if he had a whole collection of masks. It doesn't really make any sense anyway.

From that gloomy close-up on the mask, do you guys think the new mask have others elements and forms on it or is it totally slick without teeth like Griffith said ? Oh man,I really love the theatrical sense of this episode.

With this dramatic and theatrical setting, it would be cool if Rakshas could wear some kind of tragic comic mask or a kid's mask stolen from the marketplace  :void:

Silat muses that it's odd how Rakshas still seems to care about their clan's taboo even though he was exiled because of his evilness.

What do you mean by ''their clan's taboo'' ?

Silat responds: "There is. Before the Kushans attacked this holy land, a long time ago, we Bakiraka hid ourselves in an impregnable fortress and made a living as assassins for hundreds of years. All of the residents are warriors who train themselves day and night to develop lethal skills. Even goblins can't approach that place easily. The tyrant who hired us was destroyed, so we pondered on whether we should flock to the Falcon like other Kushans or not, but we don't want to serve an inhuman being again. Moreover, we were thinking to go back to our fortress. If the world was still fine, I would never let anybody who doesn't belong to our clan in that place, but this is a good chance for you."

That's exciting. So Rickert would have some kind of ceremony to join the clan in order to enter this fortress ?

Video Games / Re: What Are You Playing?

Curently playing Galak-Z, a rogue-like wrapped in a Macross/Starblazer anime style. That was one of my most anticipated game of 2015 and so far so good.

In the near future? Really?

Actually i was trying to express in english the plausability of this idea. I don't know what are the correct term to use though.

But yeah, with Guts & co travelling far away from Falconia and the Bakiraka, it's not gonna happen anytime soon. At least not until everybody's ready to pay a visit to Griffith :void:

Well, while it could indeed happen in 339, I meant that it's sad to think that we're already talking about their deaths, before we even see their potential as warriors.

Oh, i agree. And it would be neat to see Guts fight (maybe alongside ?) them in the near future.

There's nothing particularly mysterious about them; they're variations of tilaka, Hindu body markings. Additionally they're convenient to help the reader differentiate the Tapasa from each other.

Thanks for those details man.

it would be a sad day to break up that group of four before we've seen them test their limits.

Don't you think Rakshas as a formidable foe could do just that ?   :carcus:

In the mean time, it'd be great to learn even a little more about those mysterious Tapasa's symbols.
