Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: 2016 Berserk album from Susumu Hirasawa
« on: September 29, 2016, 04:05:28 PM »
Totally agree, it's my favorite as well. Here's hoping he composes new songs for the shitty anime's new season so he gets an excuse to release another album just like this, with 2017 versions of the tracks Walter mentioned. Please! :judo:

Word. If anything, it's given us some new Berserk from the master himself, to listen to. And that second season will doubt bring another new Berserk album from Hirasawa with more remixes. Anyone else have any requests for what he remixes next? I would love it if he remixed Niko from the Dreamcast game, that track was insane. Then there was those ethereal tracks like Earth from the 90s anime and A Sister's Story from the DC game and the reflective Guts theme. Would love to see those remixed and of course, Murder. New songs as well, of course, especially it's of the caliber of Aria, Hai Yo (Ashes) and Ash Crow.

I could really care less about the new composer's work, what snippets I've heard from the new anime sounds like butt rock and generic fantasy music.

I think the new version of Indra (2016) is amazing and better than the old version (which was already the most underrated Berserk vocal song, I believe). Anyone else agree? The opening is just stunning. That's my favourite song off the new album.

So supposedly the moment where Guts and Zodd team up against Ganishka is in the game. AWWW YEAH. :ubik:

Now all that's left is Rakshas and Silat and I'm happy.

OH WOW YES! This is easily the best part of the whole Berserk media explosion for me. New version of Indra is really... :mozgus:

Yeah, pishacha were cool.

I'm still waiting to see Silat confirmed as playable.

Maybe playing as him and the inevitable boss battle against Rakshas will be kept back for the inevitable DLC? :troll:

I would buy it so hard. SO HARD.

Ah, must have missed it, nevermind then.

Was thinking that the upcoming episodes might just give some back story into Puck but also Flora (maybe Schierke was originally from here and we see what happened to her parents and why Flora took her away from that island?) and the origins of the Berserker Armour perhaps? Maybe they will be able to advise Guts and Schierke how to hone the Berserker Armour properly without harming any of the rest of them in the process next time it's used? Or potentially new weapons and tools for the team to use on their next adventures? About time some of them got another upgrade, surely?

Was thinking what the fuck is Magnifico and Roderick going to do here anyway?

Not pertinent to this Episode but I think Rickert may perhaps craft some fine weapons for Silat to use in the future? At least as a way of saying 'thanks', right? Or simply upgrade the tools he already has, at least.

I do look forward to seeing Skull Knight's return. Wonder if he ever got over his last loss. Imagine Guts turning up to some other part of the island and seeing Skully already sat on a rock crying out "he can't keep getting away with this!" (regarding Griffith) Jesse from Breaking Bad style.

I refuse to watch this since it looks so bad but is the Hirasawa song any good? Can't find it on YouTube anywhere yet (and yet that rubbish rock song is, wtf?)

I do wonder if Griffith has maybe already dispatched a team to try to destroy Skellig and kill its inhabitants. At least that way we can see the powers of the inhabitants of the island in their full view and Guts defending them (and thus gaining their trust) as well as push for a return of Skull Knight to the island to help with the defense (this could mirror the failed defense of Flora's home; here Guts and his newfound allies are actually successful in the defense). Might be an excuse for Guts and co. (Schierke and Isidro especially) to finally meet the likes of Sonia and Mule again (let's say Sonia and Mule encourage Irvine to sneak in, or shall we say, spy on the events from a distance and follow the members of the Band of the Hawk who do go, if Sonia gets shut out of whatever plans Griffith tells his generals). Wonder how they'd react to seeing them trying to destroy a peaceful place like that. Would it be enough to shake their foundations of who Griffith is or would it take more for that to happen? Would they switch sides? I guess it all depends on how long Guts and co. stick around and the forthcoming events but I could see some good excuses for conflicts to take place like that in the near future. Just a theory.

I wonder who Griffith would send for the siege and who would stay behind?

I've been silently hoping for this ever since the game was first being speculated. Each new info about this game gets me more and more pumped. I'm so stoked for this game! It looks absolutely great!

Or fighting Ganishka alongside Zodd. Or playing as Skull Knight rescuing Guts and Casca during the Eclipse. :isidro:

I wonder if Wyald and Rosine will be in this? Will already be better than the new anime if so.

Corridor of Dreams, eh? And soon meeting the Elf King to boot? This is certainly going to be interesting.

Judging by the screenshot of Skull Knight it's safe to assume he should be in the game, the two other characters would make sense to be added in due to them having potential for a unique and varied move set. @Harry Spencer

Silat would especially be fun. All of those weapons to choose from! :isidro:

PLEASE tell me that you can play as the SSS squad (Serpico, Silat and Skully). :ubik:

So it's all the way up to Schierke?  :schierke:

Okay, then it's going to be like 100 hours right? This is going to be very much a "best of" compilation adaptation, I just hope they do a better job of which events to put into the game as opposed to what the anime movies did (or shall I say, did not include). :carcus:

Bet it will have better CG than the new movies... :troll:

Some info from GAF:

some info from the magazines. I don't know Berserk so not sure with some of the terms

-The game takes place from golden age upto black swordsman
-Some scenes from 1997 anime and movie are used, as well as brand new stuff for the game. There will be a lot of scenes.
-the game is not directly tied with the newly airing Berserk anime. The game is made so even people who are not familiar with Berserk can enjoy
-There are huge boss battles, 1v1 against boss, fighting against small enemies and boss popping up during the battle
-lots of boss characters in the game, like zodd and bull/ox monster.
-Guts' fighting style changes as the story progresses in the manga, and the game will reflect that in the gameplay
-As with other Musou games, Guts is not the only playble character.
-the game's visual style will be similar to the poster
-The core target audience for the game is the fans of the original manga. But newcomers will also be able to enjoy the game.
-Japan and West have different restrictions for gore/erotic. Japan is more strict on gore stuff, while West is more strict on erotic stuff. So they want to get the balance right while staying true to the original.
-they will release a video featuring Guts soon.

Sounds good to me.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Berserk Musou game...?

This exactly. What kind of absolute moron thought this would make for an appropriate trailer? That actually lowers my anticipation if anything. I hope the game itself isn't that tasteless.

More than likely it was done just for controversy, just that kind of thinking of "controversy sells" crap, that some sordid person believes.

It's cool if it's really a new Berserk game, I just hope they won't use the same visual style as the upcoming anime...

If that Arslan game is anything to go by...they will. :magni: (I just can't stop using this emoticon, sorry).

That's it for me.

Anime Asylum / Re: New Berserk Anime for 2016
« on: June 10, 2016, 09:03:45 PM »
Well that looks horrendous. Think I'll just play the PS2 game instead since I haven't yet and honestly, looking at the CG sequences in that, they actually look better to me than this mess. And to think the anime movies may actually have better visuals than this...and the thought of the lack of the Lost Children chapter. :magni:

My guess is Luka and Nina will have 5 second cameos too. There's just too much to cover in such a short span of episodes. Why is it so fucking hard to do a decent adaptation of Berserk?

It's weird since the concepts actually look rather okay but the CG animation is just. :mozgus:

Character Cove / Re: Favorite Berserk Character Introductions
« on: February 17, 2015, 09:27:29 PM »
Aside from those mentioned already (of which Void, Skully, Zodd and Femto particularly stand out for me) I really liked the introduction to Mozgus. As soon as he steps out of his carriage with his band of (not so) merry men in tow, I was in for a treat. The way he just smashes that poor guy's brains with the Bible into spaghetti was just...brutal, made even more memorable with his rage face on full power! Here is a guy who just thrives on making people live in absolute fear.

I also really took to Ganishka straight away since his introduction was one I had been looking forward to, since I was wondering who Silat, his men and the Kushan were working for and just who would have the balls to go against the God Hand. The way Miura weaves him initially as being seemingly your typical lord and making him be as mysterious as possible before pulling the rug and revealing just how interesting his powers were and just how insane this guy was, was really cool.

One thing I noticed about DSII is that you seem to level up quicker than you do in the earlier Souls games and the enemies come in mobs more than in previous titles also. I finished the game a couple of weeks ago but it was really enjoyable despite being slightly disappointed with it.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: How do you read Berserk?
« on: April 25, 2014, 09:20:22 PM »
I always keep my volumes together on a shelf nearby my bed for a good bedtime read whenever I feel like it. I even went an entire weekend doing nothing but reading through my Berserk collection. Picking up on those fine details that you didn't notice before is always a great joy as a fan. The amount of details is still staggering to me and the story just gets better and better - Miura just has a way of putting all of his story arcs that neatly fit together so coherently. I just love seeing the foreshadowing to later events since it is such a "man, this guy had it all planned out all of those years ago" sense to it all that is so satisfying.

I also like to generaly read Berserk with some music in the background on a quiet day, without any interruptions.

Video Games / Re: Games to look forward to!

After kinda burning myself out on Dark Souls II, I'm really looking forward to the English localization of Drakengard 3.  Anyone else?

Of course. Yoko Taro is one sick pup - he's quickly become a favourite game director of mine. Nier is still my favourite game of the generation (alongside the likes of Mass Effect 2 & the Souls series) and the original Drakengard is such a unique JRPG that intentionally goes against the grain of all other games in that genre. I'm also hoping to see some more Berserk influence in Drakengard 3 since Taro is a big fan of Berserk (I remember they put in one weapon that was straight from Berserk in either Drakengard 1 & 2 or Nier, can't remember).
