Movies, TV, Books & Music / Hard Candy

Did the girl in this movie annoy anyone else, to the point where you wanted the damn pedo to brutally kill her? They also never explained the girl's history or how she found out all that information. Overall, a disappointing film. Who wants to see a movie where one side is basically winning throughout the whole thing?

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Hyperion
« on: August 18, 2006, 01:02:32 AM »
Has anyone here read this book before? It's a science fiction novel by Dan Simmons which follows the the adventure of 7 people chosen to go on a final pilgrimage to a planet known as Hyperion, while the galaxy is at the brink of war. On the planet Hyperion, there is a being called The Shrike, which is somehow related to all of the stories that each pilgrim tells throughout the novel. It's a really good book, one of the best I've read. There's a 2nd part to it called Fall of Hyperion and if you'd like to continue from there, there's also another 2 parts called Endimyon (not sure if I spelled that right) and Fall of Endimyon.

Character Cove / What was Wyald's saying again?
« on: April 11, 2006, 06:30:04 PM »
Hate to make a topic for such a miniscule question but what was the phrase Wyald lived by? Something along the lines of "Live live to the fullest!" or "Fun, excitement!" etc.

Shootin' the Breeze / Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
« on: November 23, 2005, 11:54:02 PM »
I am LOVING this game! It feels and plays like those oldschool RPGs. It has the same elements as well, like going into someone's house and just opening their closets for gold and all that. You also have to work hard for your money, starting out gaining ~7 coins per battle when the best weapons cost at least 230 coins. And the enemies in this game is the BEST! They're so beautifully designed and original. Not only are the designs original but the names are hilarious. So far, I've run into some named One Knight Stand, Buffalo Bill (a bull with little chicken wings), and Jail Cat (you have to see this one to understand it.) This is my favorite RPG of 2005, topping Digital Devil Saga 2.

Since One Piece was picked up by Viz and 4kids, they translated the art book for it and brought it to the US. Does Dark Horse have any plans of translating any of the manga art books and bringing it to the US? The only place I know where to get the Berserk manga artbook is eBay and I don't want to buy it from there.

Shootin' the Breeze / Any possibilities of making a video game board here?
« on: September 29, 2005, 03:37:13 PM »
It'd be nice to talk about games and visit the skullknight forums. I know the General Board is place for stuff like this but I really think a small video game message board would attract a lot of people.

My favorite was that Kelpie in volume 25. I liked the design, his attacks, and the fact that it wasn't your usual Berserk monster. There need be more Kelpies, damnit!

It's kind of hard to tell, really. I just finished buying reading volume 8 and it had a lot of comments about how Guts was sort of just a tool, but moments where him and Griffith really seemed like pals. But the one that stood out the most was Griffith's line before the 2nd battle. It went something like.. "If I can't have him.. I don't care!" just before having thoughts of killing Guts.

What do you guys think?

Anyone else agree?

Speculation Nation / Does the new Griffith have God Hand powers?
« on: July 23, 2005, 07:12:07 PM »
We haven't seen Griffith in any fights since the incarnation so I got to wondering if he has any powers at all. Like, does he have powers equivalent to the God Hand?

Aazealh finally changed his avatar? And I hope he's joking about looking like the kid in the picture.

I always let my friends read my Berserk manga just so I can spread the word around about this great series! And all of them who see it grow to love it!

I know this is a newbish question but .. is Skullknight a normal man in skull armor or is he actually dead and just surviving through that form? Also, is he an Apostle?

My favorite band is Interpol. They're just so damn great! Does anyone else like Interpol?

Berserk Miscellaneous / Has anyone ever seen the movie Serpico?
« on: March 02, 2005, 02:40:49 PM »
It's a movie about a cop who finds out that the cops within the precincts are stealing money from the city or somethin'. It stars Al Pacino and it's a really good movie. I'm surprised thought that the movie is called Serpico, which is the same name as the Berserk character. Does the name Serpico have any meaning behind it, other than being a really cool name?

I never get tired of characters watching Guts fight. They're always so amazed at his fights that it makes him seem even more bad ass than he already is.

Shootin' the Breeze / Do any of you guys go to GameFAQs?

It's a great site. Has a lot of different message boards and whatnot.

Speculation Nation / How is Guts possibly going to do it?
« on: February 05, 2005, 12:44:21 AM »
After scimming through the Berserk volumes over again and seeing all of these insanely powerful monsters like Zodd and Grunbeld, I can only wonder how the hell Guts can manage to get past all of them. Griffith has about 5 strong warriors protecting him at all times, not to mention his army. Guts couldn't even take on Grunbeld at his best so how can he take on the other 4 apostles that serve Griffith? I seems pretty hopeless.
