Vagabond / How to pronounce Inoue
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:54:20 PM »
Forgive me for such a stupid question, but as much as I love this guy, I always wonder if I'm pronouncing his name correctly.  I pronounce it In-oh-oo.  Anybody know for sure?

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Conan O'Brien's final show

Late Night with Conan O'Brien is sadly coming to an end tonight.  It breaks my heart, but I'm sure they're going to play lots of great footage from over the years (which they have been doing the past few episodes)  I don't know how many of you are into Conan, but I just thought I'd post a reminder.  Make sure to tune in!

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Eastern Promises

Anybody seen this yet?  I was just barely able to see it, due to it's limited release the first week of release, and I must say, it is one of the best films I have seen in theaters in a long time.  Directed by David Cronenberg, one of the world's best, who pulled this off masterfully.  Not to mention the brilliant plot by Steven Knight.  Here is the plot outline off of imdb:

The film follows the mysterious and ruthless Nikolai (Viggo Mortensen), who is tied to one of London's most notorious organized crime families. His carefully maintained existence is jarred when he crosses paths with Anna (Naomi Watts), an innocent midwife trying to right a wrong, who accidentally uncovers potential evidence against the family. Now Nikolai must put into motion a harrowing chain of murder, deceit, and retribution.

That just barely skims over what this film is in it's entirety, but for me to say more would give away too much to those who haven't seen it.  If you're a fan of Cronenberg and haven't seen this yet, you must see this.  Otherwise, it is still highly recommended, although it has some scenes of graphic and brutal violence, so beware of this to the squeamish, but I'm sure Berserk fans would be able to handle it.

Berserk Miscellaneous / What makes a man - tribute to Guts

Found this video through google video.  It's a BERSERK montoge put together with a song by Trey Parker, one of the creators of South Park.  I'm sure most of you have already seen this, but for those who haven't, check it out.

Character Cove / Gambino based off Rutger Hauer...
« on: October 05, 2004, 11:13:50 PM »
I highly think that Gambino's facial characteristics are based off of Rutger Hauer.  It is known that Miura was a fan of Flesh and Blood, which stars Rutger Hauer.  Anybody else think this?

Manga Mausoleum / Sound effects?
« on: September 28, 2004, 01:09:02 AM »
I've read through a lot of translations, and I've noticed that most don't bother with translating the sound effects.  I can always geuss what they are, but is there a sound effects translation somewhere?  Preferably to vol. 1 - 4....

Manga Mausoleum / Dark Horse Releases
« on: September 06, 2004, 07:37:52 PM »
Why does it take Dark Horse so long to release a new volume of Berserk???  They should try and keep up with Kentarou Miura as best as they can...  I wish I could read past volume 5...
