Berserk Miscellaneous / Berserk PS2 Soundtrack Composers?
« on: October 18, 2018, 05:14:30 AM »
I was trying to look up composers for the individual tracks of the Berserk PS2 game, and the only ones I could see specified were Sign and Sign-2, of course composed by Hirasawa. I know the rest of the album was composed by Shinya Chikamori, Hiroshi Watanabe, Yasushi Hasegawa, and Tomoyo Nishimoto. Should I assume they all composed each track together, or does anyone have a more detailed list for the score?

Manga Mausoleum / Poor Dark Horse Translation?
« on: August 17, 2018, 06:14:46 PM »
I know how completely unlikely it is that Dark Horse messed up their translation, but I was reading through Volume 39, and I came across something that's just baffling. This is a panel from Episode 347.

There at the bottom, where Puck says "He's trying to speak as properly as he can at this point"...I assume that's supposed to be a footnote that just got thrown in as dialogue?

Berserk Miscellaneous / Berserk: The Audio Manga Casting Call
« on: July 27, 2018, 03:28:17 AM »
Hey all! I'm in the very early stages of making a manga dub for Berserk. For the sake of a kind of test run, I'm going to start with the Prototype Chapter, which will hopefully provide enough insight into the process to do the Black Swordsman Arc and beyond to a decent degree.  :puck:

I've been working behind the scenes on this for over a year, and I'm finally ready to start casting for the voice-over work. If anyone would be interested in giving it a shot, I would love to hear your auditions!

You can check out the casting call page here or here.

Edit: right, I should also plug stuff. I feel like an old man for how foreign social networking feels, but if you'd be interested in following the Facebook page and/or Twitter, that's available as well  :ganishka:

Manga Mausoleum / What summons the vortex of souls?
« on: April 21, 2018, 08:18:31 PM »
I'm finishing up a re-read of the manga, and at first I was thinking back on the battle for the Spirit Tree Mansion. Guts and the Skull Knight cut down several apostle, yet we don't get dozens of vortexes claiming the bodies, like it did for Wyald. Thinking harder, I realize it only came for Wyald and the Count's (and when the Skull Knight destroys Qliphoth).
So what made these apostle deaths so much different from say, the Snake Baron, or the female apostle who killed Corkus? Is there anything specific that has to happen for that swirling vortex of souls to emerge?

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Other good series for Berserk fans?
« on: March 11, 2018, 07:36:33 PM »
I've asked this around the web a few times, but I feel like here may have some of the best results. So, anyone know a good manga or anime, or even regular novel, similar to Berserk? Specifically medieval dark fantasy setting, though I'd be interested in anything you'd say is near Berserk's quality

Anime Asylum / Berserk 2017 Blu-Ray
« on: February 01, 2018, 06:03:21 PM »
So on my tax return, I'm gonna buy the two Japanese box sets of Berserk 2017 (because I'm a whore, and Berserk is my pimp), but I was curious--does anyone know if they touched up the anime like they did for the 2016 Blu-Ray? If not, I'll be happy to post any changes I notice--because 2017 had alooot more moments where the animation just FELT incomplete.

Anime Asylum / Berserk 2016 English dub Petition
« on: March 25, 2017, 05:11:47 AM »
While Berserk 2016 has by and large been panned by long-time fans and newcomers alike, the final nail in its coffin is the English dubbing Crunchyroll chose. Rather than bringing back what, for many, is the iconic cast for the characters, they instead enlisted what can only be the lowest-cost studio.
This is not only insulting to fans of the original series and movies, but a professional discourtesy to the talented actors who brought the characters to life for over a decade.
I understand that online petitions rarely accomplish anything, but I would urge everyone who feels the same as I do, or anyone who can sympathize with the situation, to please sign and let Crunchyroll know that we as customers are unhappy with their product.

And be sure to Tweet to them and get the word out, we want Crunchyroll to #RedubBerserk
