Movies, TV, Books & Music / Game of Thrones TV [spoilers]
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:05:57 PM »

I expect that the series will have more viewers on this forum as it goes along, feel free to discuss what you think of the cast, episodes, and the changes from the novels in this thread.

Here's a cast list, it's pretty impressive.

Sean Bean as Eddard Stark
Julian Glover as Maester Pycelle
Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister
James Cosmo as Lord Commander Mormont
Peter Vaughn as Maester Aemon
Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister
And so on..

The part of the cast that I'm currently skeptical about is Emilia Clarke as Daenerys. Her character will under go some changes for sure but I'm worried that she's present more as eye candy than anything else. Her abilities should be clear when things start heating up, ..and I don't mean sexually.

During episode 1 I had my doubts but with episode 2 now I think Lena Headey might just be right for her role as Cersei. I don't know if she'll be able to pull of Feast of Crows but that's a very long ways off. Currently, I'm just glad that her ability to manipulate and her deceptive skills are actually far better than I expected.

News & Not News / Japanese Boxer Dies From Boxing Injuries
« on: March 28, 2009, 12:57:50 AM »
I'm still looking for articles. I'll post what I know of for now.
Hundred of boxing people today (Thursday) attended a funeral service of Masatate Tsuji, Japanese top ranked 105-pound contender, who passed away on Tuesday because of brain hemorrhage after his come-from-behind defeat in a national elimination bout with Yuji Kanemitsu in Tokyo, Japan, last Saturday. Tsuji, 30, had swept almost all rounds before he abruptly succumbed in the tenth and final session. He was the thirty-fifth ring victim since the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC) was established just prior to the first world title bout between Dado Marino and Yoshio Shirai in 1952. It was a horrible shock wave to the Japanese boxing fraternity.
First in-ring death in Japan, apparently.

News & Not News / Internet worm to hit on April 1st

Sounds like one heck of an April Fools joke. Though I think I'll try to play it safe.

News & Not News / Kangaroo breaks into home
« on: March 09, 2009, 11:58:29 PM »

A Kangaroo jumped through the three metre high window of a families home. While the family took refuge under the blankets, the injured animal proceeded to jump on top of them, gouging holes in the furniture and smearing blood all over the walls. The man eventually wrestled the kangaroo out the door.

"My initial thought when I was half awake was: it's a lunatic ninja coming through the window," Mr Ettlin told The Associated Press.

"It seems about as likely as a kangaroo breaking in."

Damn.. title won't fit.
A spokesman for NSW Attorney-General John Hatzistergos said the NSW Classification Enforcement Act prohibited publishers and retailers from selling unclassified computer games.
"The NSW legislation covers computer games bought online as well as those bought in stores, and treats single, multi-player and online games the same way," he said.

The spokesman added that enforcement of the act was the responsibility of police but penalties for breaking these laws ranged from $1100 to $11,000 for individuals and/or 12 months' imprisonment. For corporations the fines were approximately double

This move directly affects games such as World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan and Pirates of the Burning Seas titles that don't contain a single-player experience, and therefore did not apply for classification. The previous understanding was that online games, by their nature, fell outside of traditional national classifications a loophole that the Classifications Board want stitched up.

According to the report, a spokesperson for NSW Attorney-General John Hatzistergos said the NSW Classification Enforcement Act prohibited publishers and retailers from selling unclassified computer games. The spokesperson also encouraged individuals to report any retailer or individual found operating outside of the Classification Act of 1995.

So apparently it is now illegal to sell MMORGP's in Australia. Doing this heinous act will get you 12 months in the hole with rapists and mass murderers. I think they will probably fix it eventually by making it mandatory to classify Online games.

News & Not News / Belgian knifeman charged over Belgian creche stabbings
« on: February 05, 2009, 04:36:13 AM »

A 20 year old man with a white painted face and black painted eyes entered a child daycare centre. He pulled out a 12 inch knife and went rampaging through the place, stabbing and slashing the children as they lay in bed. Among the victims are two infants, a 54 year old female employee and a lot of wounded.

Du Four denied rumours that the suspect had escaped from a psychiatric ward or was high on drugs or alcohol.
Hopefully he won't get off on an insanity plea. Where's the death penalty when you need it.

Cancer-stricken movie star Patrick Swayze has reportedly given up all medical treatment.
The 56-year-old is said to have made the decision after doctors told him there was little they could do to stop the progress of his illness

Most of you will remember Swayze from movies like Ghost, Road house, Dirty Dancing and Point Break. The 56 year old movie star was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 12 months ago. He fought a hard battle against one of the most virulent forms of the disease but doctors have now told him that there is little they can do to stop the progress of his cancer. Swayze has given up on all medical treatment. Most people die from pancreatic cancer within 6 months but Swayze has been fighting it for 12 months now.

Patrick stated that,
"There's more I want to do. Lots more. I want to last until they find a cure."

He may have given up treatment but he certainly has not given up the battle.

News & Not News / Masturbation 'cuts cancer risk'
« on: January 16, 2009, 04:35:47 PM »

They say cancer-causing chemicals could build up in the prostate if men do not ejaculate regularly.

And they say sexual intercourse may not have the same protective effect because of the possibility of contracting a sexually transmitted infection, which could increase men's cancer risk.

Umm. Yeah this is probably one of the stranger things I've posted in the last few days.  :ganishka:

..yes its a 2003 article. It's old, ..great.

I was never into the original series and I actually didn't find the whole "Khaaan" joke to be all that funny.

News & Not News / Kid + game + murder, the usual
« on: January 13, 2009, 03:47:48 PM »

A 17 year old kid murdered his mother and attempted to murder his father after they took his Halo 3 away. Both victims were shot in the head. The father survived. The kid might be looking at life in prison though the defense is probably aiming for insanity.

I say WTF. Did this kid seriously consider his Halo 3 as more important then his parents?

Not quite as stupid as this:
But that's old news.. and fake too.

If you want to cosplay as the Black Swordsman .. this is the way to do it. Forget about just closing your eye, go extreme. :ganishka:

Anyway the article is about an inmate who was on death row. He pulled out his eye and ate it. He previously killed his family including his 13 months old daughter back in 2004.

Character Cove / The ultimate mount showdown.

This is it. The question everyone has not been asking. May the best ride win.
I believe a thanks is in order to Grail for the cute names. For those of you who have no idea what is going on, please check out Grail's doodles. Located here,

Note * I did not include Locus' horse in this poll.

Disclaimer: These names are not official and should not be used in a serious discussion about Berserk.

With the recent developments in the manga and the various speculation about how the apostles will end up staying true to their "nature" I came upon a strange thought and would be thrilled to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter. I searched through quite a few threads about apostles but I didn't find anything dedicated this topic.

Throughout the manga there are numerous references to the degree of an apostle's power in relation to how much evil they received when they became apostles.
Ganishka boasts about it to Locus
getting overconfident with the small amount of evil you received into your body. Feel the true power.
and his new transformation also appears to be a cause of him forcing more evil into himself,
...How much evil does he have residing within his body... No, the Lord Emperor himself is now the evil world itself!!
- as usual a thank you to the translators at -

Now the issue isn't with Ganishka but actually with Griffith's commanders, or more specifically the strongest members of his new Band of the Hawk. We know that Locus, Grunberd, Zodd, Rakshas and Irvine are all incredibly powerful. Wouldn't this imply that they should all actually be the most evil in Griffith's army (Griffith naturally excluded)? Yet when it comes to which apostles are most regularly doing evil things, it's usually the cannon fodder. The weaker apostles are the ones that eat and rape humans and do the things that we would normally consider evil. Grunberd and Locus on the other hand have demonstrated that they are fully capable of interacting with humans on a normal level. We don't really see what Rakshas does. And from the few scenes we've scene of Irvine, he seems to be a relatively normal person (his interaction with Sonia). I would assume that if Sonia had fallen asleep beside normal apostles she probably would have been raped and eaten. As for Zodd well for now I'll just exclude him because most humans that have come face to face with him were probably going  :isidro: "Holy Sh!t! that man has no eyebrows" Okay bad joke. But apart from Mule and Sonia I don't recall him ever really coming face to face with someone that he didn't kill. (Guts and co excluded)

Considering that these apostles are supposed to be the most evil from the Band of the Hawk, why is it that they commit the least amount of evil acts? We don't see them raping people or even eating human flesh. Is it possible that the other apostles are just a more primitive type of evil? Or is the standard definition of evil not appropriate. If we consider how the Idea of Evil came into being and that it all starts with the negative and darker feelings within humans, should we actually consider the more "human" apostles more evil then the other ones?

Your thoughts?

Note* by small 5, I mean Zodd, Grunberd, Locus, Rakshas and Irvine.* The big 5 are obviously the five members of the God Hand.

Shootin' the Breeze / Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays
« on: December 23, 2008, 03:03:39 AM »
It's that time of the year again. If you celebrate it, Merry Christmas (in a few days). If you celebrate something else or just use this time to relax, well then Happy Holidays. To everyone who lives in a country with extreme snowfalls like where I live in Canada, stay safe on the roads. :serpico:

With the recent Berserk episode, this felt strangely appropriate:

- strange coming from me when I don't even like Christmas carol's or celebrate Christmas in the main stream way.

Shootin' the Breeze / Boxing: De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao
« on: December 07, 2008, 01:47:22 AM »
As the title says, it's a fight between the Golden Boy versus Pac-man.
I really can't call this fight so I have no idea what's going to happen. If I had to guess, Pac-man by TKO before the 7th? or DLH might TKO/KO Pac-man before the 7th. I doubt this is going the distance.

It's about to start.. well soon. I'll post results. Though probably not round by round.

I wasn't sure where to post this so it's getting its own thread.

Creation Station / Civil War is coming...
« on: October 14, 2008, 09:46:44 PM »
A war is coming to a civil war. An unforgiving war, a war without rules, a war without order. A war that... okay.. okay I'll shut up.

The only rules are that it be Berserk related and that it does not break the forum rules. I have not seen any Berserk Civil War banners. It's time to change that. Feel free to remake civil war banners that have already been posted. Especially mine seeing as how my image resizes degrade the image quality. (Ms-paint) Change the images or change the text's as you see fit. Also try to make sure that your banner does not violate the size limit of signatures ( 700 pixels wide by 150 pixels high). One more thing to keep in mind is that you still need to ask permission from the original artist (colorings apply) if you decide to use someone else' artwork.

Lets begin!1

Here is the Civil War template:

I'll post more soon.

Incredible I just feel sorry for the natives because they probably have no idea what the hell that helicopter was. It's pretty damn inconsiderate to fly a noisy chopper over a vilage.. geez.
Hopefully no one tries to interfere with their way of life or try to make contact.

Wierd.. thats all I can say.

Another article

Apparently the first three were not severed.. They were decomposed.

This stuff is truly incredible. However it does take us one step closer to building cyborgs like in Ghost in the Shell.

I have mixed feelings about this. I don't think the manga is over yet, so this would most likely be a filler filled trash heap.

News & Not News / French Elections

I didn't want to start yet another political debate but I'm really curious what the French community of has to say about the subject.
Apparently Sarkozy is really on a downhill roll and with his joke of a EU policy/plan that is understandable.,8599,1722887,00.html
