Manga Mausoleum / Battle with Wyald
« on: August 23, 2011, 08:28:01 PM »
I'm currently re-reading volume 11, and toward the end of the battle with Wyald, Guts slices through Wyald's hand and thinks, "I get it!"

Just what does he "get" exactly? Miura shows two panels of Wyald's sliced palm, which seems to trigger something in Guts' mind. Can someone explain just what happens here and what it is that Guts figures out?

It looked to me as if Wyald's palm was fusing back together and regenerating, and that Guts determines that he's going to have to go for the head in order to win the fight. Is this a correct interpretation?

Berserk Merchandise / Selling used copies of Dark Horse Volumes 16 + 17
« on: November 06, 2009, 10:11:07 PM »
If anyone is interested in some used copies of DH Berserk volumes 16 and 17, let me know.

I only want $12 for both, given the wear and tear. Bindings are not creased, but covers have slight nicks and scuffs. Pages are in excellent condition with no tears, creases or stains.

They are great reading copies. However, if you absolutely need your Berserk volumes to be pristine, look elsewhere.

Shoot me a private message if you're interested.

If you're in Southern California I can meet you.

If not, I would be happy to ship USPS.

Video Games / Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Anybody interested in picking this up? Looks incredible, and I've always been a sucker for the treasure hunting genre.

Seems like a breath of fresh air after so many poor Tomb Raider games with Lara Croft.

Naughty Dog's got a fantastic track record.

Manga Mausoleum / The Brand in volume 13
« on: August 06, 2007, 07:40:12 PM »
I just finished reading Vol. 13. Man, pretty shocking. There was one little detail I noticed that didn't sit well with me, and I'm wondering if this was "creative license" on Miura's part or if there is an explanation based on the mythology of the series.

Right before Casca is raped by Femto, we clearly see both Guts and Casca had been branded. Femto is so close to Casca during the rape, yet her brand doesn't shoot out geysers of blood as Guts' did when he attempted to strike Femto at the beginning of the series (Vol.2 or 3, I can't remember).

I thought that the brand was supposed to react violently in the proximity of such a highly-ranked demon such as a member of the godhand. Right before the rape you can see a trickle of blood coming out above her breast, but hardly a geyser, unless Femto has some kind of power over the brand's response.

Which, I suppose would make sense. In that regard the brand could be used as a weapon or device of subjugation that godhand members could use to their own will or advantage.

Any thoughts?  :???:

Encyclopedia: Q&A / Question about Berserk in Japan
« on: April 07, 2007, 07:05:42 PM »
Can anyone tell me how often Berserk is printed in Japan?

I'm not sure if it appears in Young Animal monthly, once a quarter or if it's on a different schedule all together.

Also, how many Berserk tankobon are published each year?

Manga Mausoleum / Question about Book 1
« on: April 06, 2007, 11:50:42 PM »
I was just hoping for some clarification about what happens in book 1 of BERSERK, namely in the episode called "The Brand."

When the priest's daughter's corpse becomes possessed by the evil spirits, why does Guts let her walk over and stab him? At first I thought he was stunned or too shocked to move, or is it possible she has some kind of hypnotic power?

Also, after he kills her, Guts starts to vomit when he notices her blood on his cheek. I'm not sure why he feels sick, but I'm thinking it's due to guilt at having been responsible for her death.

Am I interpreting these events correctly?  :void:
