Creation Station / Berserk Character Model Sheet?
« on: May 27, 2011, 05:19:11 PM »
Hi all, I realize I could just use my volumes for this, but does anyone know if official Berserk character model sheets have ever been created? I'm getting the itch to do some fanart, but I'd love to have some sort of reference laid out like that.

Shootin' the Breeze / The 'Amazon Comic Strip Superstar' contest
« on: November 06, 2009, 06:16:12 PM »
Hey all, I thought it'd be worth mentioning here - a really good friend of mine has had a comic in the Amazon 'Comic Strip Superstar' contest, which basically took 5000 entries of potential comics for syndication from the public, narrowed them down to 50 to be reviewed by professionals, and then to a final 10 for public voting, and she's made the top ten.

The voting page is here - the comic 'Girl' is the one my friend made - she spent a lot of time on it, and it'd be kind of a big deal if it got picked up for syndication, she's been making comics for over ten years now, but mostly webcomics, and book and merch sales from that, while actually pretty good from her comic which was popular when it was running, just wouldn't compare for a syndication deal.

Anyway, please do look at the other comics there, and I suppose you have to have an Amazon account to vote, but - if you could give the comic 'Girl' a look, and a vote if you like it, it'd be appreciated.  :guts:
Anyway! Here:

"Girl: She's a kid who's awkward at school, awkward at home, and comfortable in the forest, where her friends all live. She has a name, but her forest-dwelling friends all just call her "Girl."

Tame compared to Berserk, but what isn't?  :ganishka:

*edited for more obvious link:

*edit 2: I forgot to mention, voting ends TONIGHT! I really appreciate your help! :guts:

Video Games / Quality PC games of the past 9 years?
« on: September 07, 2009, 01:46:57 AM »
Alright, this question will probably be eye-rolling for a couple people, but I figure the people here have good taste, so it's worth asking.

To explain myself, first, briefly - for the past couple of years my primary computer has been an underpowered little laptop that did okay with Windows XP, and Ubuntu marginally better. Before that, I had a 300MHz (yes, Mega, not Giga) iMac from about 2001 or so.

So needless to say, my involvement in gaming culture has been... next to nonexistant. I've played Cave Story to death, and a couple flash games, and ROMS for stuff like the NES before my moral compass prevented me from continuing that, but, well...

In the next few days, I'm going to have deliverd to me, finally, a relative beast of a computer. A computer that's not just 'vaguely modern', but very close to bleeding edge - more or less described in this thread. Yeah, it's gonna be a beast - massive video card, 6GB of RAM, etc. First 'modern' computer I've owned in over a decade.

So my question to you fine folks is, since I've been just about entirely out of the scene for about nine years... what have I missed out on? What are the gems, the pinnacles of wonder, the extraordinary experiences that I've missed? What /videogames/ do I need to get, and fully experience, in order to be able to call myself, with all sincerity, a culturally complete modern internet computer age person?

Just from the last year or so, I know, for example, that Bioshock is a game to get, and Mass Effect, as well as Fallout III. And the aforementioned 2d sidescroller Cave Story, which does manage to run on my current laptop, though it pushes the limits of what I'm able to do.

But what else? I'm afraid I don't have either the cash nor time for MMO*'s, such as World of Warcraft and such - but single player games that have a multiplayer component I'll be able to do, as long as there's no recurring monthly monentary and time investment required.

What games of the past couple years do you not just remember, but remember fondly, and regard as worth playing for someone who hasnt' had the opportunity to be able to play decent PC games for ages?

I hunger for them.  :beast:

News & Not News / Scientists discover the Home of the Elves!
« on: August 23, 2009, 09:49:43 PM »

The real fairy kings of the skies are the elves, it turns out. This is the name given to doughnut-shaped bursts of light that appear higher but more briefly than sprites, decorating the ionosphere skies at a height of 90 km for less than a millisecond.

Alfred Chen at the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan, a member of the ISUAL team, says he is excited by his unexpected discovery of the large global elf population. Unlike the sprites, which "mainly congregate over continents, elves are found mostly over oceans," he says.

Elves, it seems, like it wet and warm. Wherever the sea surface temperature exceeded 26˚C, Chen found elves. "The warm ocean surface can provide the heat source needed to drive intense oceanic lightning with very high peak currents, which generate elves in the ionosphere," he says.

Shootin' the Breeze / Newegg (brag about your computer!)

Alright, so my current main computer is a 4-5 year old HP Laptop. Which, y'know... it works, I guess. Running Ubuntu, because no way can this thing handle Vista.

So that sort of dates the last time I've really looked into computer hardware stuff, and going back to school in a month here, I've decided it's time to finally get a decent computer. So, naturally, I check out , or for me, . And... stop, and stare. Computer tech in the past half-decade has become incomprehensible to me! I mean, the basics - RAM, HD, etc - but there's a lot of crazy numbers here, and I don't trust myself to be able to figure out what's good and what's not anymore.

That said - what's your setup? Did you put it together your own, or get it from such as Best Buy? If you're feeling exceptionally generous, what would be a considered a good computer, these days? I'm looking to spend under $1000, and I'd prefer a decent graphics card (whatever that means these days, I'm sure a 16MB Voodoo2 would be out of the question) though I'm not much of a gamer. 500GB HD? Those are affordable now? Crazy.

I feel like I'm a decade out of date, and I appeal to your collective wisdom to set me straight!

Inspired by Aazealh's Who will be the first to die among Griffith's lieutenants? poll, I think there was a thread like this a few months ago, but I don't think it was put to poll.

To recap some current affairs in the Berserk world - right now, Guts and company are on a lone vessel in the middle of the ocean, heading towards the mysterious (elf island) Skellig. Recently, elves all over the world have been dissapearing - even more recently,  :ganishka: has more or less rent a hole in the fabric of reality directly to 'hell', so tremendously that it's astrally visible to Schierke even at her distance from the event. Guts has recently been dreaming about :chomp: , who has suggested to Guts that he's merely dormant, and on next awakening plans to slaughter everyone - to repeat, in a way, the slaughter of the previous Band of the Falcon during the Eclipse. Griffith himself is accelerating his taking of power in this plane of reality, and has recently commanded the apostles to show their true selves in the fight against Ganishka's... 'spores' I suppose is a good a word for them as any.

So that's just a few of the things going on in their world right now. Sure, everything's... seemingly calm on the boat, at the moment, but when has that ever lasted? And the last good many EPISODES have been pretty light, compared to the good bulk of the Berserk story so far. One might even say that, aside from having to deal with  :chomp: , life for Guts now is overall pretty comfortable - and we know that can't last. Personally, my best total guess idea for the near future of his group, is that the ship will be wrecked, and the surviving members of the crew will wash up on shore, seperated - but that's purely speculation based on nothing more than the 'shipwrecked and scattered party must regroup' storytelling device, which is a great way to put party members together in stressful and relationship-building scenarios.

Got sidetracked there - basic question: Who will be the first to die among Griffith's current companions?

For the purposes of this poll, I'm leaving out recent party members such as Roderick, Magnifico, and Azan, as I personally feel their death would have a less emotional impact on the Guts himself and the story in general, and they're not quite 'part of the main group' just yet.

At least, if it leads to a full SWAT force kicking in your doors and confiscating it.

"An Ohio family whose members have served their friends and neighbors with food cooperative services involving bulk and discount supplies has been targeted in a raid by armed law enforcement officers wearing black fatigues who forcibly rounded up the mom and 10 children and held them for six hours. Nine Inch Nails: Ghosts I (2008)

Hello from Nine Inch Nails.

We\\\'re very proud to present a new collection of instrumental music, Ghosts I-IV. Almost two hours of music recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I-IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.

Now that we\\\'re no longer constrained by a record label, we\\\'ve decided to personally upload Ghosts I, the first of the four volumes, to various torrent sites, because we believe BitTorrent is a revolutionary digital distribution method, and we believe in finding ways to utilize new technologies instead of fighting them.

We encourage you to share the music of Ghosts I with your friends, post it on your website, play it on your podcast, use it for video projects, etc. It\\\'s licensed for all non-commercial use under Creative Commons.

We\\\'ve also made a 40 page PDF book to accompany the album. If you\\\'d like to download it for free, visit Ghosts - Email

Ghosts I is the first part of the 36 track collection Ghosts I-IV. Undoubtedly you\\\'ll be able to find the complete collection on the same torrent network you found this file, but if you\\\'re interested in the release, we encourage you to check it out at, where the complete Ghosts I-IV is available directly from us in a variety of DRM-free digital formats, including FLAC lossless, for only $5. You can also order it on CD, or as a deluxe package with multitrack audio files, high definition audio on Blu-ray disc, and a large hard-bound book.

We genuinely appreciate your support, and hope you enjoy the new music. Thanks for listening.

Don't even care if the music is any good or not, just the fact that they're doing it makes me want to give money to them.

*seriously I actually just gave money to them for this right now before listening to it, I never do that*

Berserk Miscellaneous / Berserk Videogames
« on: December 31, 2007, 05:23:52 AM »
Couldn't find a thread on it, so here's a thread about it.

I've heard that was's a Dreamcast/PS2 or some variant thereof that was made awhile back. That got me curious, but hard info was hard to find, so I figured I'd see if you guys know anything about it.

First of all I guess, is it real? Is there a real, actual Berserk videogame that got released out there?

Of less importance, is it any good?

Of utmost importance - where can I get it?

I'd probably be in Japanese, though, so, hm. Would there be a script for it, of such a thing were possibly/worth the effort?

It's something I've hoped for in the back of my head for awhile now, and the when I heard that a Berserk game might have actually been made, well, that's got my hopes up, just a bit.

Wait, I, huh? I... I deliberatly posted this in the videogames section. *blushing Farnese emoticons* What happen? Main screen? Every zig?

Site & Forum News / "View Posts Since Last Visit" option?
« on: December 29, 2007, 08:24:37 PM »
Sorry if I'm missing something blindlingly obvious here (I did search), but does this board have any sort of a "view posts since last visit" option? It's something I've taken advantage of on other boards. Makes it easier to quickly see what's going on, saves me from clicking around to dig up the lastest posts.

Not a big deal, but I've found it convenient enough that I miss it when it's not there.
