Berserk Merchandise / Re: Repaint Berserk 20th Anniversary Statue
« on: July 28, 2010, 04:25:44 PM »
Finally received my statue.  I got #8 for those of you who are curious.  I own three of Art of War's early statues and they just don't compare.  Pictures just do not do this statue justice.  I was feeling buyers remorse until I actually opened the box...and just wow.  I am glad I was able to get a version of this impressive statue.  I don't recall seeing it mentioned anywhere before but all parts of the statue where assembly is required feature loose fitting parts that are magnetically attached.  This is a HUGE improvement from the old statues I own.  I actually cracked the hand on my Episode of Birth Feast Guts statue putting the sword in because the fit was so tight...I was very careful too.

I had a couple of questions for anyone else who has this statue.  It looks like Guts' sword on mine has a fitting problem that other people don't have but it's hard to tell because of the way perspective and cameras distort things.  The pommel on his sword is level but the blade on mine will only mount tilted in toward Guts.  The blade looks to me like it was designed to mount level with the pommel...well and it should mount like that...but either the mounting peg or the hole in is sword is crooked so it will only mount tilted.  The sword does rotate a little once it is mounted but can not be made to match the pommel...it just tilts toward Guts...or more toward Guts.  Most likely I could dremel/cut the hole in the sword so it would rotate and level out...but I am kinda upset I have to modify a $1000+ statue to make it right...well and I could make it worse :)  The other thing I had a question about was the plaque.  Mine came with a plaque but no sort of stand for it.  Were they supposed to come with a stand?

I was going to take some pictures...but my camera batteries died trying to take the first one.

Check my pictures in my post of my V3 Europe 20th Anniversary Version.  I don't remember having problems with the sword but there is no stand just a gold leaf plaque.

Berserk Merchandise / Re: AOW - Serpico, Puck, Casca statues

I didn't got any doubt about it! :badbone:
It's true, the good point will be the cheaper price but it deserved a bigger scale IMHO.
Well, we'll see when they will make their announcement.

Put it this way, AOW is not crazy enough to spend a lot of $$ developing a big Serpico figure in case it doesn't sell then it would be a massive bomb.  Want them to make a big Serpico figure?  Make sure this small Serpico figure gets SOLD OUT everywhere then they'll see a business opportunity to create a bigger one.

3
I know it seems weird but it is actually cheaper to order from other sites instead of the AOW site directly as some sites offer discounts when using paypal or other promos etc.

I agree with what you guys are saying.
Story purposes the blood is the way to go, guts went through hell and back and the statue deserves blood!
Statue purposes the non blood looks cleaner lol and detailed in the armor.
Honestly, every 20th is soooo nice and well deserved with how much we all pay for it.

Anyone who has the statue is lucky, each version brings out its own quality.

Hell if I had the money I would of bought all the versions and put them all together in one case, that would look freaking awesome.

That WOULD be quite costly.  Not to mention I would need to buy a new shelf just to house the 3 statues.

I have no problem with it, but maybe AOW would prefer to keep the submissions for themselves. You might want to ask them first if you want to be safe. Otherwise just go ahead.

I'll wait till they announce the winner first then put my idea here.

Nothing so far.

For Casca ANY price is worth it! Speaking of which I will finally try to upload the Casca Hawk soldiers pics this weekend.  Have been so busy lately. :mozgus:

Got my ideas submitted finally, got some I have been thinking about for a while.  Took a while since i worked a 53 hour week.

I submitted mine as well but I told them the point wasn't to win but to get them to make my statue into a reality so that I can buy it and have it displayed.  Since it is past the submitting deadline are we allowed to reveal our ideas here?

I think it really depends on personal tastes to be honest. Like for me the blood represents the struggle and the price Guts had to pay for using the armor in the first place which is why I wanted one with blood and when they announced this one I knew I had to have one.

No doubt the one with no blood looks magnificent though, just looking at the Art of War website makes me wish I had one w/o blood but if I had to choose, personal preference would be this one, its just more ... insane imo.

Put it this way friend, if $ wasn't an issue I'd gladly buy both the blood and non-blood version coz they are both awesome. :SK:

« on: July 03, 2010, 06:10:51 PM »
Yeah man.  I have the Predator Arnold.  I plan to pick that up as well.

It's a shame you guys are not buying your hottoys stuff directly in the flagship store.  I've checked the prices for North American sites & European sites and they charge insane $$ for hottoys items.  In Hong Kong you only pay like maximum 50-75% of those prices most North Americans & Europeans pay.  Sadly enough I still haven't seen a hottoys figure worthy of my purchase...

10
It's pretty expensive for my blood, too.  Over double what I'm used to paying for a figure, but this is less of a figure and more of a statue since it consists of mostly polystone and metal.  I also think the pose is really nice, I can't wait to chop some fruit up and lay it on either side to make it look like he's chopping them in half. : P

AOW figures are expensive whether or not you are buying from AOW.  But I'll leave you with one quote my friend 'Money has no value unless you use it.'
Enjoy your figure  :badbone:

Yeah man.  I have the Predator Arnold.  I plan to pick that up as well.

I'll go talk to the guys @ the flagship store first chance I get.  I also want them to make a Battle Suit version of Jill Valentine.  It would look awesome I'm sure.

They didn't explicitly say so but it's probable, yeah.

You guys aren't supposed to put your ideas down in the thread; remember there's a prize to win.

When's the deadline again? I'm not aiming to win.  My ultimate motive is get them to LISTEN and make another slan figure. July 25th deadline?

I would LOVE it if Hot Toys made a Berserk figure.   I can't really see it happening though.

Hottoys buys license and prefers monopoly.  With their style they would not allow AOW to make anymore if they obtained the license.  So either AOW makes them or Hottoys.  You just can't have it all bro  :schierke:

Aww, have faith! Pull some strings too. :ganishka:

I've been to their site lately and they tend to prefer buying 'exclusive' rights to a particular series. Since AOW and others make Berserk too, the chances are slim.  Hottoys' flagship store + HQ are located in Hong Kong.  I can go and ask the staff in person next time I'm there.

how the 20th anniversary statue looks in it:

In Hong Kong IKEA has free shipping if you order over $2000 HKD (about $256~ USD) worth of goods.  Getting this thing home would be another problem...I'll have to see it in person first.  I'll take a look at other shelves while I'm there that can potentially fit big berserk statues.  I'll take pics and post here if I come across any.  Thanks for the links too.

Okay, so I got this email from AOW and I thought I'd share it with everyone! At first I was like...I can't share this, it's too good! But then I was like...What would Guts do?

Basically let your imagination go wild and come up with a sick and detailed explanation for their next big project. Winner gets SWAG.  Serious Swag.

Thx for telling us BUT they announced this on their site as well haha  :ubik:

I got it off of ebay for 234 bucks. Cheapest quality case i have seen.

At the risk of sounding lazy, I think it would clear things up for A LOT of ppl if you could tell us the name of the IKEA case?  :slan: With the name I could just go to Ikea this weekend and ask the sales ppl there for the model.  Please and thank you in advance.

yes , i like to keep the Daiba !
thanks

but he looks ugly  :void:

Any reason in particular you would recommend the 20th over this one? I don't know if I can fork over 500 more dollars for a statue right now anyway, unless there was a huge difference.

There was a thread earlier about the best Berserk statues.  Read it.  And oh yeah 20th anniversary HANDS DOWN if you ask me.

If I could afford these without giving up to other necessities I would do so in a heart beat. You have an amazing talent at replicating characters and bringing them into sculptures so the only thing I can do is approve of your talent and tell you that you are amazing at what you do. I am impressed by your sculpting and very interested in seeing the end result. Good luck and again, very nice work.

You DO know you can survive a week without food right? Water is a necessity so you need that but I'm sure you can skip a few meals to pay for this  :ubik: How did I pay for my 20th anniversary guts in 1 lump sum payment? Let's see...I normally finish work at 6pm but that entire month I didn't leave till 9pm (mon-friday) to rack up the overtime $$
I did this for 3 months to pay for the 20th anniversary
it was a huge sacrifice but well worth it

Curious on what you bought fellmark? I was also trying to find a display case for mine, but it is hard to find one with a depth of 60cm(35inch) for a decent price. Display cases are really expensive :puck:

How much would a case like that cost? I need a better case to put my V3 in as the current TV shelf case has a bit of space that allows dust to get in  :mozgus:

I missed out on the 20th anniversary...So I've decided to cancel some other things and save my money up to buy this beast. : O It is just so awesome.

I'm looking forward to sitting it next to all my Berserk Manga. : D

I'll be paying in installments for V2, I believe.  The little figure isn't worth the extra cash, I don't think.

someone is selling the V1 statue! I would recommend that over this one SERIOUSLY I own a V3 trust me on this it is worth the extra $$.  I however, did not have to pay $1100 usd the guy is asking however...

Well it looks like Art of War has figured out that their statues are expensive as shit, and a lot of their customers have bills to pay, so they are offering payment plans to all of their customers.  They stated it at the bottom of the 1/6 Guts page. :ubik:

Actually I didn't order this one.  $$ isn't the main concern here but the space I would need to make for me to display this.  Also I shudder at the thought of me dragging the guts 20th anniversary from the post office to back home....something I don't want to try to do again...unless AOW makes another slan figure  :badbone:

I'm in agreement.  Less is more.

suddenly you got me thinking about scantily clad women...or tying back to Berserk you got me thinking about my beloved Slan (^.^)
