"Enchantment!" I love this kid :slan:[/b]

Hah, yeah I stop by most every time I am at camp and swap my runes around just because it makes his day.

Came across this beast tonight... toughest boss I've fought yet, and he's optional. Great drops too.

Yeah, I didn't see that one coming when I walked into the hut.  :daiba:

I've been playing this way too much lately. My character (Farney) is a dual wielding elf rogue. It seems like you guys opt more for the heavy armor. Typically I use 2 rogues and 2 mages. I conjure up a lot of blizzards, and send Lelaina's wolf or bear into it to finish off enemies (I think they are mostly immune though I don't pay much attention). The rogues can use their bows to shatter enemies (and stonefist for Wynn). Anyone who manages to get out alive ends up diced pretty fast. For the bosses I always use my blades. I used the life giver ring and some physical resist items so my rogue has comparable stats to the tank characters.

Getting Ready to serve a hot meal!

I don't think he liked it.

Farney making a landing on a dragon. I was lvl 15 at the time.

The actual deathblow was quite messy.

The old hatchet in the eye trick.

Some funny shots

Alistair getting a bit carried away with his bear killing technique. I feel bad for the thing

Leliana howling at the moon and embarrassing her wolf.

Looks nice, I'm looking forward to the sea monsters. I like the paintover too, it looks quite masterful.

Lol, good addition at the end there. The cut out face is very funny.

Haha, that first one is great. I like how Guts is giving off a bit of Duke Nukem vibe.

What Aaz said is true, but Wow. Totally kickass overall. I kinda like the colors you chose. If you were going for complete accuracy I'd make his gear a little more pristine, as the only person I recall striking his shield is himself when he took a swing at Void. Could be forgetting some though. The model is highly impressive in any case.

Looks really good in general. I like the proportions, especially with the ribcage beefed up, and the texturing looks pretty nice.

I considered it, but... I dont even know what that would bring to the table. Her entry would essentially say that she had an affair with Vandimion who gave birth to Serpico, making him part-Vandimion. But that's touched on in Serpico's entry "Farnese's closest friend since childhood, and secretly her half-brother."

Well that makes sense. Her part, even her death, was mostly part of Serpico's character development, and she really had very little of her own. I never thought she was worth adding but it looked like with some of the possible new entries you were going for completeness.  Nice job on the new icons by the way. That Griffith is a huge upgrade to the old one.

I'm not sure she was named but you could add Serpico's mother as well.

Ah, I was actually referencing Jojo's Bizarre Adventure since the costume design on Farnese really reminds me of some of the stuff you see in there. Or maybe it's just me... :farnese:

Ahh ok, I thought you mean like Johnny Joestar from Viewtiful Joe, who has a lot of stars on the outfit hehe Maybe I will check out JoJo though for some inspiration if I run out of ideas. Typically anything I draw is just off the top of my head but I despise thinking up clothing lol.

Very nice art Serpico!  :guts: Has Farnese been spending some time with the Joestars?  :ganishka:

Heh, well my drawing process at the time was extremely random. The stars were just part of that.

@ Grail

Thanks, the ulcers are only bad if you anger them  :chomp: and they heal if you are careful for a month or so. Mine is about gone I think. Just have to reduce my headache meds which means taking it easy  :serpico: Usually drawing makes them worse but right now my brain is in anti-programming mode, and I actually feel fine drawing. Sorry to hear about your headaches; its rough.

The costume involved a lot of testing. Quite hard for me to make elaborate clothes with any sense of coherence or balance. Coloring should be fun. Hopefully it won't look too ridiculous in the end. Sometime soon I'll probably do another child Serpico and Farnese like the little one in the 2nd pic there.  :serpico:

I kinda like all 3 for different reasons. They all look quite cushiony though.

Hahaha, nice texturing. The perfect dummy.

Thanks, I am actually starting to get the hang of texturing. Its more difficult than normal coloring because I can't visualize what I am doing as well. Next one coming is the Kelpie.

I've had a bit of trouble lately with chronic headaches and resulting ulcers from taking too many pills so I've been drawing a little more since I have been more in the mood for that. Keeps my stress lower. Here is a new picture in the works. When I finish Farnese will have about five to ten hand maidens. The one there already is still in a sketchy phase and I think I will re-draw the hat a little nicer. I've been meaning to do this since she was shown with all her maidens at the Vandimion's Estate.

Also here is an ooold thing I drew. Not even totally finished but someone may like it.

By the way, here's a bonus included in copies of volume 34, or at least those bought from a Yurindo shop:

Card signed by Miura thanking the reader for purchasing volume 34 (I got one! :badbone:). Could Elfhelm be a tropical island? :guts:

Hah, thats totally unexpected from Miura to me. Thanks for sharing that Aaz, as well as all the other little bonus items you've posted in the past.

And I know we're saying this every time and it gets old and all but seriously, Guts is going to have a hard time getting his revenge. :ganishka:

I think things are gonna be evened out a little when most of the non-flying apostles die taking the stairs.   :troll:

Thanks for the comment Serpico!  I've taken your comment into consideration and made some changes, and I think it looks alot better.  I'm still hardly able to work within maya and it's basically put progress at a standstill.  I should get my new Imac next week though, Hurray! : D

15 is high for an average game model.  I heard that Kratos from God of War 3 will have like 20 K.  I'm still thinking about how to do the teeth: extruding from the skull or just creating..20 teeth.  Unwrapping would be easier if they were seperate, I think.

Anyways, I got frustrated with the lag in Maya and decided to do some good ole' 2D.  Let me know what you think of this guy. : D ROAR!

No problem. And yeah, 15k or more will probably be standard soon.

I like the 2D! You have some serious painting talent. Probably quite handy when you get to texturing.

Ok, just an update.

I decided not to bother with a demo yet, because there just isn't much to do aside from run around. Still working on the game though.

I'm going to try to churn out a few mobs, because I really need more practice with the whole 3D process. My modeling, texturing, normal mapping, rigging, and especially animating could stand  some improvement. I learn enough about coding in school and its better to focus on my weakest points because the only way my project is practical is if I am able to be self sufficient for the whole process. I would love help from other 3D artists eventually but I think its a big mistake to go into something like this counting on volunteers.

That said, I'm not really worried about anything.

This guy took me a couple hours in total. The hands and feet are junky but it will be fine for testing purposes. I think he wants a hug!

Welcome to the forum! Always great to see more artists types around here.

Ahh, its funny I was just looking at stuff about using Zbrush to make cool normal maps before I came to SK.net  :serpico:

Your model looks pretty good, and the armor in general looks really good. I agree with Walter about the upper lip, and the eyes are a bit too roundish I think. They should be more wide than tall (check the banner at the top of this page). Having the skull look right will really make or break the model in a lot of ways so you'll want to keep tweaking that as you go along.

15k might be a little high for a game model but SK in a unique character so its not like you would ever slap 10 of him on screen I suppose. Of course some of the detailing for the ribs and teeth and such could be done with normal maps if needed, but you probably know more about that than me.

Looking forward to future updates.

Not bad, Serpico. I like it! :guts:

Thanks

It can be frustrating to work with the same picture of an extended period of time, so kudos to you for sticking with it. :guts: That 3D model is coming along nicely, too.

Hah, yes, it drove me a little nuts actually. The 3D model is a bit of a Frankenstein work to be honest, like I stiched on some hands I found somewhere else, because they are tedious, and this isn't a commercial project, but I probably shouldn't take too much credit on that.

Is that Flora wrapping around everyone, or is that the Idea of GOOOOOOOOOD?  :griffnotevil:

I know the elves are supposed to be in the foreground, but as they aren't really occluding anyone else, it looks like they're on the same plane, and thus HUGE.

Nah, not Flora, just a generic spirit, although I've been torn on changing it to Flora. When she does the fire embodiment thing and we see her in her youth she was probably the hottest (no pun intended) woman in Berserk. I need to practice her a bit.

On the the elves, I didn't want to occlude too much, since it was a lot of work drawing the other characters, but I sort of see what you mean. As the one who drew it I am more naturally inclined to see it as I intended it rather that what other people may see at first glance so it helpful to know that. I can re-scale them up or down pretty easy so I might fiddle with them a little later.

Wow that really sucks. That stuff is not easily replaceable if at all I guess. If you did lose it, god forbid, you have it documented pretty well already for insurance purposes. Still though, I hope it all ends for you without incident DK.

Ok, here is pretty much the final picture. Not sure how long I worked on this but I probably could have done 20 of my usual pics in the same amount of time. My arm was buzzing after I finished shading Guts. I might use it for a menu or something in my game, but anyone can feel free to color, crop, or modify it for personal use. If anyone does actually color it though by all means post it.

Full sized version here, its a bit huge

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with Lith about the last picture, I like how you gave the cape shape and whatnot. Refining some stuff like the swords handle I think would help out the image. The 2nd one makes me laugh; poor guy.

Hope you will continue to post stuff.

Doesn't look half bad so far I have to say. I'm interested to see more of the progress. :serpico:

Thanks Aaz.

Here is a test with a junk texture I slapped on it a couple minutes. Its obviously not the final texture but there isn't much point to do that until the mesh is fixed of a couple problems and finalized, but at least it gives a general idea.
