Any spoilers in that comic? I haven't gotten around to seeing the movie yet.

Played Killer Instinct on the SNES at my friend's place earlier. I really liked Glacius' music so I looked it up on YouTube and found this remix. I really like it for some reason. I don't usually listen to stuff like this

Definitely a big loss. I thought for sure he'd make it through. I'm glad I got the chance to see him live. RIP

Experimenting with the suit's abilities was the best part about Crysis though. That's like playing through Half Life 2 and using the gravity gun only for "those parts where you had to."

The graphics are pretty, sure, but that's not why I love Crysis. I like using maximum strength to leap into trees, then sit there and wait for a group to pass, then drop down in stealth, grab one of them by the neck, switch to maximum strength and throw him into his buddies, knocking them all back 20 feet like Korean bowling pins  :ubik:

Also awesome is maximum speed jumping on top of a building, then landing with a maximum strength punch through the roof, collapsing and killing everyone inside. Or, of course, the classic super punching helicopters out of the sky.

...whoa. I actually had no idea you could do all of that. If I can get my copy back from my friend's place, I'm giving this game another chance.

I bought a 60GB backwards compatible PS3 yesterday. I need to buy some games for it but I borrowed the God of War collection from a friend.

When I was playing it, it felt more like a tech demo than a game. It was gorgeous to look at yes, but I felt like they put all their effort into visuals rather than plot and gameplay. This is likely due to my own play style but I really didn't utilize the suit much. I used speed just to get from point to point faster when a vehicle was not available. Never used strength except for those parts where you had to. I used stealth a few times but I never found a way to incorporate it into the way I play. I exploited this bug a lot that would let you fire another tranq shot right away because I just got bored of the game. I ended up only beating it for the sake of finishing it. I liked Far Cry up until the whole mutant thing. I didn't like Far Cry 2 much.

Personally I was a little let down by the first game. This one is looking far better though.

Anyone playing Metro 2033 ?
Just bought it today. Hopefully this game is like the Fallout games.

I bought it. I love it so far. My only gripe so far is the way currency is handled. It is interesting but I'm not sure I like it.

The wifi at school during peak hours is atrocious for any form of online gaming. As for the art style, well I can't really put my finger on anything specific but for example, protoss architecture - it just looks incredibly reminiscent of Shattrath city from WoW. Zealots also look really bulky, like pretty much any male unit wearing heavy armor in WoW. That's just the vibe I got from it anyway.

A friend of mine got into the beta and he let my play it for a bit. To be honest, I'm not too impressed so far. It's still got that SC feel to it but I was expecting an upgrade like what ME2 was to the first Mass Effect. AI is pretty dumb as well. I am absolutely horrible at RTS games and I have no trouble destroying their base. The graphics also look very similar to the style seen in WoW.

Let me know how the new Stalker game is. I'm curious, since I liked the game design and premise of the first one, but felt it was poorly executed and rough around the edges.
It's definitely an improvement over the last two. They've definitely added a lot of polish. The optimization also seems to be much better. Clear Sky caused an unpleasant FPS drop in certain areas but it's quite smooth this time around, even with the graphical settings mostly on high. There's some nice features that you have access to right away as well, like the ability to sleep and the option to repair and upgrade your weapons (more advanced upgrades require you to hunt down special tools, all of which are not immediately available). Finding artifacts is done the same way as in Clear Sky - you have to have your detector in one hand and a knife/pistol in the other. It definitely adds challenge as you sometimes have to go in to some pretty hazardous areas to get artifacts. I think it looks a bit silly to have a large watermelon sized glowing object pop up from the ground when successfully finding an article. There's also an NPC who can place special weapon and armour orders for you, provided you have enough cash.

Gameplay wise, it feels better than the previous two titles but it is not without its faults. A few minutes into the game, you have access to an overwhelming amount of side missions. So much that I've almost forgotten about the main plot missions. The atmosphere is this game's strongest point. In my opinion, the Stalker games have created the best and most believable post apocalyptic environment in any game that I've seen. It's especially cool at night time where the sky isn't just a dark blue like in many other games. Night time actually feels dark and dangerous. Excellent visual effects and some fabulous audio work add to the immersion. I do like that they've kept the system where every non mutant NPC has a unique name. I just wish that the various wandering stalkers actually had some varied personalities. Every stalker talks to you with the same attitude.

I'm not too far into the game but overall I'm enjoying what it has to offer so far. But then again, I loved Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky as well. The new AI system works well enough but it's not without its problems. I've seen a few erratic animations and I've noticed some clipping issues. The english voice acting can also be pretty laughable at times. I recall a few NPCs that sound like a native english speaker deliberately trying to speak with a bad russian accent. All in all though, I like this game but it's not something that everyone can get into.
