This actually happens all the time (and across the world) with Griff's "20 years later" joke image.  :ganishka:

Darn! I near;y forgot about that one! I got fooled too when it came out.  :ganishka:

And in the end, Griffith always show up to illuminate the day. Thank you for that beautifull ending. If only...  :slan:

Joke aside, I do agree with you Grif. I don't care how it's play out towards the end, as long as it's well done and so far I can't really find a part in the story where Miura never delivered. That says a lot on how I/we trust him with his story because obviously, he seems to know where he wants to bring his story.

I don't think I'll ever be scared of how it's gonna end.

Well these two passages from the manga might help out a bit.

Volume 14 Skullknight to Guts :"If you mean to pursue the inhumans, follow the guidance of that brand." Episode Demon child or infant from dark horse.

And volume 22 Guts to himself :"It was an aimless journey relying just on strange rumors and the subtle sensations of the brand..." Episode The rent world

Now that does kind of say that the brand can be use as some kind of radar. The way I see it, it just doesn't work perfectly like a real radar with a bip and a ping, but an unnatural feeling that serve as a radar once you know how it works/feels. As in, I don't think Guts can sense where all the apostles are because he has the brand. The closer you get from one or something evil, the greater the feeling/reaction.

I'm pretty sure after a couple of nights fighter the specters got him to be able to differentiate the apostles from lesser creature and if he started to feel something a bit I'm sure he'd go that way to find out.

In my opinion.

resurrected Griffith

Though the Griffith we have now in the story is not a resurrected Griffith, it's Femto (a spiritual body) incarnated in a body of flesh. Which makes him still evil as fuck as when he did not have a physical body. Nothing changed about that. He's just playing a nice role of "I'm being nice event though I've anticipated/pre-planned it all and nobody knows..."

Hmm I'd say rushing head on, shirtless and wounded, in a bunch of apostles right after fighting Slan (and getting some serious wound from that fight too) was not his best idea ever if we want to go into that territory.  :guts:

Yeah, volume 17 is also one of my favorite if not my ultimate favorite so far. Oh well... I'm glad to see my second best. The top 5 though which is vol 34.

Did we ever do a survey like that in skullknight?

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Hardcover editions of Berserk?

Here in Brazil, Panini has been releasing a "deluxe" edition, with better ink and paper than any other version in the market here.

The drawings are very clear :ubik: and the cover is "hardish", not truly hard, but not too soft either. I've been collecting my deluxe volumes from them. I don't know how it compares to US/EU/Jap prints, but it's pretty good arround here (also, price is comparatively lower!).

(not my pic)

Nice. Is the size a little bit bigger then a manga though or is it about the same size?

As others mentionned, I would love it so much to have oversized volumes...

Yes, some of us had problems with a few of the name spellings (Mozguz / Burkilaka / Gurunberd, to name a few). As always, even spellings from official sources have to be questioned, because there's a language barrier. For what it's worth, the spellings in the character guide section of volumes has been on point for years. Then the guidebook came and raised more questions.

Ah yeah, now I remember the little controversy of the guide book. Anyways, i take most of the names here because I trust you guys with thse things. I'm just glad that I'll be able to have the guide at home.

It's weird though that there is a difference in the guide book vs the character guide in the regular volumes.

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Good on DH for releasing supplementary materials like this. I wonder why they never did the same for the Illustrations Guide? I guess it helps that the printing format of the guidebook is the same as the manga, whereas artbooks are a different beast entirely...

Either way, this means we'll get an official translation of the huge Miura interview, which is awesome. Having the rest of the guidebook translated, well, it's kind of hard to get excited for it, since I already own the Japanese one.

Indeed, I have been wondering why they never bothered to make an English version of the artbook(s) (can't renenber if their is more then one for I have only one in french). Maybe they don't have the rights to make them?

As for the rest of the guidebook, I'm happy about it because I've refrain from buying the Japanese version because I cannot read it. I know some of the info seems to come from out of nowhere (ages and stuff like that. Correct me if I'm wrong though).

It'll be a nice addition to my collection.

One question though, are the romanized names in the book considered the real spelling for the characters? I know it has been discussed in the guide book thread at some point but not sure at 100% about it.

Yes, that album is awesome indeed. I'm listening a lot "the man climbing the hologram" "kun mae #3" in alternance with "murder" cause I like to compare them and one of his remix album "hen-gen-ji-zai". Great stuff while drawing at work.  :carcus:

This is pretty much why I said it was a fan serviced season. Maybe I had the wrong choices of words but it feels to me that they are doing (the showrunners) what they would like to see in the books, which imo would suck if it turns out to be that in the end (which probably wont be the case considering the enormous change in  books.) Like the ridiculous part of the Iron bank siding with Cercei, which makes no fucking sense considering they are pissed off against the Lannister for the debt they owe them...

I just have the feeling that season 8 will just ruin my experience and I'll have to put asside my purist side again to be able to somewhat enjoy this series finale.

But like you said , I would not be surprised if Martin is gonna do last minute change to his book. Anyway he said himself if I remember correctly that a lot of stuff would not play out the same way that the show. (A little bit reassuring to be honest).

You mean Balon, not Euron, right, because I thought he's still alive and very much looking like the big bad (how crazy would it be if they screw up Azor Ahai AND the Night King? =)

Yes, yes I meant Balon. (My bad, but they still introduced him way later in the series vs the book) I still prefer his personnality in the book though.

Anyway, I know Aegon's a separate character in the books, I just thought there was some question to his legitimacy and them cutting/combining him with Jon at least suggests he's not supposed to amount to much in the end. Of course, if he was going to die, there'd be no need to combine a legitimate Targaryen plot into Jon's character unless he's supposed to be legitimate in the books too. But I'm also totally willing to believe they just fucked up and cut out an important claimant to throne/end game character so they half-assed grafted him onto Jon because nothing makes sense anymore. If only they had, say, 7 more hours to estabish such a character! But they were too lazy to even put in the work required to properly break the story they already established. That's what the 7/6 episodes really signifies: the bare minimum.

Thing is, in the book we still "don't know" that Jon has Targaryen blood (wich in my opinion is the only thing that matters). And learning that the babe was never killed and is doing well and all was the big punch line. Now it doesn't mean that Aegon his gonna be the one sitting on the throne in the end though. I like the idea of a bastard rising anyway, but the lther thing is we still don't know if Martin is gonna revive Jon or keep him dead or switch him in Ghost as the prologue for book 5 was specifically talking about that kind of possibilty.

It be something though to learn that the Aegon in the book is just a ploy to take the throne for then reveal that it was Jon the real deal and put him on the throne, but I doubt that. They would not have gone into exile in Essos and leave the real one in a dangerous spot without having anyone knowing it. It would have been to risky for them to lose him. I guess we'll know in a few years when the Winds of winter will be out. ( saying years here because we know fuck all when it's gonna be out)

I just think they fused that plot together in the tv series just because Jon is a big character and they wanted to make him more then a bastard when he was already more than a regular bastard. I was well satisfied with just knowing he was a Starkgaryen... :ganishka:

And I pretty sure they kept that secret because Ned did not want his nephew to die since Robert was in a frenzy of killing all the Targaryen he could get his hands on. So makes sense to make him think that Jon was his own bastard son instead of Lyanna. It would have ended in a mess if he was to learn that.

Book spoilers in case you haven't read them.

Well actually in the books Jon and Aegon are both two different characters. One's still at the Wall and the other has started taking over some castles with Jon Connington AND the golden company. And some random baby got to take the place of "Aegon" when they showed them to Robert. So since they never adapted that plot they just decided to make Jon the "real" Aegon, thus making a legitimate Targaryen with the secret mariage. As they decided to throw Euron way later in the story (when he should have died around the time Robb and Joffrey died, due to the leeches thing with Melisandre) and omitting the great character of Victarion. I could go on but I think we already where that leads.

And I don't think the Aegon in the books is illegitimate considering Connington's point of view. And this part was the big reveal of the fifth book.

Yep, but to be fair I predict tons of shit that never happens too, but it's a low risk practice, especially for stuff next season (see above), when nobody will remember how wrong I was anyway. :griffnotevil:

I live in the north, I'll remember. (Get it? ) Ahem, anyway, to answer your question to my previous post about my disliking the big reveal about Jon. I just think they should have left him a bastard. I felt the marrying Lyanna officialy part just to make Jon a real Targaryan and not a high bastard plain suck. Even more when you learn that his " real name" is Aegon Targaryan hinting that the babe that was killed all these years ago was not born from Elia Martell but from Lyanna. Of course this pisses me oof because I read the books and it's just a whole messy ployt fused and twisted together. Now I'm to blame for my own disapointment. I should have seen it coming.

If they wanted to put that plot into the story, they should have done it right and have the real Aegon in the show. But then again, they would have mess it up anyway.

Been re-watching the episode yesterday and I don't buy that Jon/Aegon part of the "big" revelation making him a legitimate Targaryan. This killed my fun. And now we're probably (and hoping I'll be proved wrong) going to see the Golden Company and their elephants on the wrong side of the battle. Shortcut writing does that sadly...

And I'm done rambling (maybe) until season 8!

BTW, something we should mention, congrats to Jaime on finding his BALLS! :ubik:

Well it was about time. I thought it would never happen.

My big highlight of this episode Littlefinger's juicy throat. He was getting on my nerve ever since he got in Winterfell. I'm glad that's out of the way now. And with him out of the payroll we'll get even better dragons for the last season. They do make them nice but like you said, I would have prefer a little bit less realistic dragons for a better script but oh well too bad.

Now I can't wait to see how they'll put the end of the series in a 6 Úpisodes season. As Jigsaw said once, "Yes, there will be blood."

Well this season is a 6.5/10. This episode was 7. The end was the thing I was expecting the most since well when I first read the first book. I'm curious to see season 8 now. (With no expectations)

They still get most of the story from George R.R Martin. Like that dumb freaking Jon & Dany romance. It's funny because everyone knew this was gonna happen and they still went the most predictable rout. It's also gonna suck when a character as 1 dimensional as those two wins the throne while they kill the few sorta complex characters that are left one by one.

Sure they some key elements (really not most of it at this point) from G.R.R.M. but it was said at the beginning that their series would diverge a lot from the books the further they went and it shows. I'm pretty sure the key elements they got for the tv series are gonna play out in a totally different way in the books as it mainly did so far in the series. Best example will be the fucking Hold the door crap.

But I get what you mean

so, does anyone think Bran is the Night King?
That's the big theory du jour that's been going around a while.

No I don't think it's him, as much as I don't think he's the tree-eyed raven... (you heard about that theorie?)
the only theory that seems at all satisfying to me is Littlefinger is already dead and Arya is only testing Sansa
I also don't think that's the case.

Are people actually surprised about the Night King taking a dragon for himself thing? I saw it coming like since season 4 or whenever the White Walkers were shown This whole show is incredibly predictable and cliche tbh, it has turned into a Disney show for adults. I know what happens next episode and once it's confirmed I'm giving it a 1/10 rating

It wasn't much predictable when they were basing the story on the books. Now that they don't have anything to base themselves on it's pretty easy to figure it out. Especially when the cast is reduced to half of what they were and that the characters are just there to be there when needed.

But there will always be a huge amount of people who does not notice that (the quality drop in the script, the fast moving plots, the characters that seems to regress vs their actual development) it clearly shows that they had an idea in mind and wanted to get there asap, which sucks 'cause the start of the series was great but the end will be sketchy as a whole bunch of tv shows.

Like you said, though imo, from this season it's completely a different fantasy show.

Oh well, it could have been worse... like a certain Once upon a time where I was unable to finish the first episode vs the "Fables" comic series...
