I think ultimately combining the two worlds was the right decision, especially considering there was a direct reference at the end of Split, and everyone already considers them part of the same domain.

It was more than a reference, it was clearly a teasing of the sequel. But I think a trilogy was planned since the beginning no?

Finally getting off my butt and reading Dune. I know there are multiple books, but I've heard anything after Herbet's death isn't worth reading.

Any insight from anyone?

Nice, I intend to do the same thing very soon!

What I mean by this is the lazy mission design plague by most Assassins creed games for example the mission type of follow this guy and listen in on his conversation these missions are more common then you think.

I can understand, I don't really like these kind of missions either. But there is really not many of them in Origins if I remember correctly.

You and Walter have me refocused on Origins now as a potential reentry point. I'll wait until it's a bargain though because I have plenty to play already.

As I already said, the scenario is not the best feature in this one, but it's not a bad one either. I think it's a cool game to play, exploring the world is really enjoyable and there are some interesting side quests. It has a more developed RPG style than the previous games, but stealth is not as important. If you think you could like it, it's worth it in my opinion.

I personally do not care the assassin's creed franchise I played bits of black flag got pretty far but got bored quit now the disc is collecting dust in some corner in my room. And then I played Assassin's creed unity oh god it was so bad I wish I could snap the disc in two but it was a digital download, and then Assassin's creed Egypt came out and then I lost hope .

As I see it, you didn't try the right ones, except for Origins which was a big renewal in the series, heavily inspired by The Witcher 3. If it's about the scenario, it wasn't the most interesting one but it's not what this game is all about, so I'm not sure to understand your loss of hope.

Assassin's Creed is the most boring, droll franchise I've played in my life. It blows my mind that you didn't like Black Flag, considering it's one of the most highly regarded installments in the series. Origins and Odyssey were just as boring, but in a bigger setting. I don't get even the small amount of acclaim they got.
Historically, Ubisoft has spat out mainline AC games once per year. But they took 2 years to make Origins, which was a step in the right direction from everything that I've heard, providing a much-needed refresh for the same old tired mechanics. Odyssey came out just 1 year later, and seems to suffer from a quantity:quality problem.

And it blows my mind too. For me, Black Flag was the most boring one, and almost made me gave up until, as Walter said, the refreshment that Origins was. There are few bad apples, but to go as far as to say it is the most boring franchise...
And again as Walter said, I'm only talking about the mainline games here. About Odyssey, it seems to be a mere copy of Origins, I probably won't buy it and wait to see what the next one will be about.

In my opinion, one of the main purpose of an Assassin's Creed game is to take you on a journey, and it does it pretty well. Of course I'm not saying it's the best franchise, that wouldn't be true, but I couldn't stand idle without defending it. If they were truly bad games, I think they wouldn't have the success they actually have. To each his taste I guess. :serpico:

Concerning Assassin's Creed, I'd say you're not really missing much. I played the second one around the time of its release, and wasn't impressed then. And since it's one of the most widely-praised in the series, that doesn't bode well for the rest.

I don't agree, Assassin's Creed games are a must-play in my opinion, except the ones from Black Flag which I didn't like, to Origins which was really good in my opinion. The second one was particularly impressive because of the enormous changes it brought compared to the first one, not only from a graphical point of view, but also thanks to all the new features and to how the story continued.

Total war looks pretty cool I might get  Rome total war. However I heard that the latest total war games weren't so good at least compared to the previous ones.

I'm not skilled and experienced enough to actually confirm it or not, but I bought the last one (Thrones of Brittania if i'm correct) and enjoyed it despite mixed reactions when it came out. Each title brings new and different functions, so some of them are less welcomed than others by long-time fans. Each opus has its own identity so it really depends on what you're looking for. But it seems that Rome II is indeed a safe bet and there is a lot of content. I didn't try all of them, but my personal favorite for now would be Shogun 2.
A bit of patience is required because it's not easy to understand how to play at first, but if you think you might like a Total War game I recommend it. Plus, they are regularly on sale on Steam.

Since nobody mentioned it yet, right now I'm personally looking forward to Total War: Three Kingdoms. I'm not really a good player despite owning a few Total War games, but I enjoy them, and the historical context of this one really appeals to me.
And currently on my "wait to see more list" there is Cyberpunk 2077, Mortal Kombat 11, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been the only thing on my mind I hope it releases 2019 maybe june or july.

If it were to be released in 2019 I think we would already be aware of it. I don't think the game is ready yet, but I wouldn't mind to be proven wrong!

It has nothing to do with Dark Horse (what?).
Oh. My bad. I'm not used to english editors and you were also speaking about translations by Dark Horse so I got them confused. Sorry. :farnese:

Anyway, Japanese people get English words wrong all the time. Look no further than "Knight of Skeleton"  :ganishka:

True haha! :serpico:

Also, "Blame!" Itself is a bad translation, since it's pretty obviously supposed to be the onomatopoeia of a gun firing: "BLAM."
I have no doubt you must know what you're talking about but are you sure? (I didn't read it yet.) In that case it's probaly not a mistake made by Dark Horse Vertical since it's exactly written "Blame!" on the japanese volumes. Or maybe that's what you meant? :???:

On the subjet of the Deluxe Berserk edition, as long as it's not something official from Miura/Miura's editors I'm not interested. They'll probably reuse the same sources files and stretch them.

There is an exhibition with a Guts statue signed by Miura. I never wanted a Berserk statue so badly.

I had actually looked at it before but I found it to be excessively goofy for my taste. It might just be another misleading introduction though.

I can understand your point of view, it's possible it was a bit goofy at the beginning indeed, I don't remember exactly to be honest.

Boichi's art style is amazing when he's serious.

I totally agree with you on that.

Besides Berserk, my favourites would be Monster, Vagabond, Slam Dunk and of course the great Hunter x Hunter.

I could add more like Vinland Saga, Real, 20th Century Boys, Dragon Ball, One Piece, but if I had to choose they wouldn't be my absolute favourites. I also recently started reading Kingdom and I feel that I'll like it a lot.

I'm at around vol 8 of Monster, but I lost interest. Seems pretty overrated to me.

Give it a second chance! :puck:

Aside from that, other titles that I'm fond of are The Breaker and The Breaker: New Waves, which is actually a Korean manhwa series. It's one of the best Karate Kid type formulas that I have encountered. Great artwork, drama, martial arts, the whole package.

Then I highly recommend you Sun-Ken Rock, a manhwa too, in the same style, but way better in all aspects in my opinion. :)

Do what I did and stop actively waiting and assume it's over... until proven otherwise. :griffnotevil:

Yeah you're right, I should do that.

I go into detail in the post below with links to Inoue's thoughts and a summary of the exhibition where he kind of wraps up everything before he gets there.

I'll take a look, thanks.
