It's an incredibly difficult portion of the story to speculate about. We're in dreamland here, so there are many possibilities. The queen has already said that things may not be what they seem.

Tell me about it; my head is spinning just based off of some sketches! I'm also curious to see what the rules are for casca, and what role the queen may have in all of this beyond what she is already doing (not to make light of what she is already doing: this isn't something that could have been done without her).

Well, like I said in the post you quoted originally, the text does give us an indication of what it is: "the thing in the Abyss of Casca". It's vague, sure, but still is a significant hint. One could guess that it is the core of Casca's ego, something that has retreated to the deepest parts of her mind and therefore broken her. Or maybe it is her fear/pain/trauma that she's secreted away, and again that could be the key to her condition. Or it could indeed be a representation of her son (who is obviously very important to her) and serve as a hint or a part of the puzzle to get her back.

Oh man, totally didn't register that! That is extremely interesting. I wonder if after all this time it has taken shape to contain parts of all that you have mentioned? On the other hand, there is also the figure in the coffin to consider, in regards to her fear/pain/trauma, perhaps? Or maybe the two are somehow connected? With this being within her mind it's going to be fascinating to see how this unfolds.

Hey Chaos. I don't think it's the "Boy in the Moonlight" because the text Miura wrote on his sketch says it's something else. Also because this takes place inside Casca's psyche and relates to her specifically. Even if the boy were to appear in her dream, it wouldn't really be him, but a representation of him in her mind. Just like with other people (e.g. Guts).

Yes it is. This takes place inside Casca's mind. It's not a place people can enter in their "body of light". That's why the group traveled all the way to Elfhelm instead of having Flora do it back at her place.

Well that answers that question, Miura himself stated so!  Very cool that this info was include in the sketch.

And in regards to the second part of your response: absolutely makes sense. I was just thinking out loud, mainly due to the fact that we don't know the full extent of what the boy is capable of. Having said that, for him to be able to either project his astral form from afar and somehow join the ritual, or inexplicably be within the vicinity of the Sovereign of the flower storm and work his way into the ritual without undergoing the same process as Farnese and schierke and remain undetected all the while are both, admittedly, rather absurd thoughts. All I can say is the idea of him showing up to help casca got the better of me.  :farnese:

Hopefully, when it is revealed what the childlike figure is/represents, it will not be detrimental in restoring casca!

... Also very intrigued by that child-like figure. It's not the boy, it's yet another representation of Casca, and I think it's one that's hiding itself. It's "the thing in the Abyss of Casca", as the text says.

Hey Aaz! I haven't seen this discussed since this particular mention, but I wanted to discuss this idea further. Specifically, why you don't think it's the moonlight child.

Before I continue, I think the child being a representation of casca makes the most sense. But just for discussions sake: looking at the sketches, with the way the chatacter is shown, it reminds me a lot of past instances when the moonlight child kind of just "shows up"/appears/whatever the correct term is. Also, we have seen the child come to guts' aid when he was in trouble, in astral form; is it a farfetched idea that he would show up to help casca, too?

Having this discussion/asking this question of you based off of sketches alone is more than likely moot, especially (as you've stated) with this being casca's deep conscious, the childlike figure being her makes the most sense. If it is the moonlight child, however, I think that would definitely add another element to this moment (not like it needs it  :ganishka:)

Love the coloration! Very clean. Could use some highlight/shadow work, though, but still really nice!

It's actually been out for months, but was so terrible that we collectively chose to forget about it.

I (rather bitterly, to be honest) laughed a little harder at this than I wanted to.

Hopefully time is being invested to fix some of the problems (I mean, all would be great, but let's not get crazy here) presented in the golden age trilogy.

What are your expectations for that giant, mysterious dome that's in the palace region?

Of course, we first saw it back in 307, and thanks to some cleverly placed clouds, I'm pretty sure it's actually translucent as I explained in this post from 2009.

Since it's presumably in the palace area, where Griffith likely makes his throne room, I think it'd be exciting if the dome actually IS the shell of his throne room. Consider, it's the highest and most visible point in the city, and to look up at any time and know that Griffith is in there, watching over everything LIKE A FALCON, would be quite cool and eerie. Plus, imagine the view he'd (and potentially we'd) have of the great city from that perspective.

All will be answered soon, so no need to go too hardcore. What do you guys think is inside that huge thing?

I think it's like you said, it's probably the throne room, or at the very least houses the throne room/his royal chamber/what-have you. To piggy back off of this topic, I'm curious as to exactly WHAT that dome actually is. What is it made of? Does it serve as more than an amazing look-out for Griffith? Does it maybe have supernatural properties to it, similar to Flora's Mansion?

And I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but what I'm hoping for once we make it to where Griffith is, is to see the god-hand members in human form with him. I'm not sure if that's likely, but that doesn't change the fact that I'd love to see it  :guts:

Damnit. That page near the end of the sixth episode with Delos thanking Pome.... :azan:
This mini series was such a cool treat. Granted, I still cannot wait to get Berserk back, but this was so awesome and I really hope Miura does come back to visit this someday.

With such a massive advantage its becoming more unlikely that Guts can really do anything. Hell he hasn't even reached the island yet.

That's one of my favorite parts about Berserk. When has Guts ever really been in a good position? Or, maybe better phrased, when has it ever been likely that Guts could really do anything, especially in relation to the God Hand? Hasn't stopped him yet, has it? Mr. Miura hasn't let me down yet when it comes to Berserk, so I'm just gonna ride this wave to the end. Whatever that may be  :daiba:

Welp. I guess I'm gonna be broke soon.

I'd like to second this.  :judo:

This. Is. So. Rad.

Seriously. It looks like Miura is setting up something awesome with this series.

Speculation Nation / Re: Little Serpico moment in Vol. 33
« on: September 08, 2013, 02:23:07 AM »
I always kind of thought of it as an upleasant moment for serpico, for want of a better term. We already know from everything they have gone through thus far-the fight between serpico and guts in particular where we see serpicos fear of farnese dying by a berserker guts, how serpico feels about this whole journey. We've known pretty much since the get go (vol 24 jumps to mind), but you get the idea. So now here he is, over hearing this from Farnese, and I just imagine that it really isn't sitting well with him, nor is it helping his peace of mind.

Though I like the comparison you made, Walter, with him and Farnese to guts and casca. Definitely didnt think of it that way

If we stick with the Falconia side of things for a while, do you think Rickert will end up coming face-to-face with Griffith again, or do you think Miura has other plans for Rickert while he's in Falconia?

I honestly picture rickert getting a tour, similar to how mule did when he first met up with the band of the falcon, and it potentially switching perspectives as he comes into contact with Griffith in some fashion, be it a direct meeting or maybe, for example, seeing him on his throne  :femto:

Just a random post. They made a Chich Pokemon for the upcoming X and Y games. :schnoz:

It's named Flabébé (Fairy type) and here it's official description:

I thought this was amusing.

Maybe that's where he's been/what he's been busy with?

Aww. I made myself laugh, then sad.  :ganishka: :judo:

Hopefully we hear some news soon. Until then, back to re-reading the series!

I'd like to place an order for 3, please  :ubik:

His hair turned white due to the stress of the armor on his body. Try using the search feature next time, I know I've read discussions on it before.
Hope that helped!

Yes, it seems that way. No professional translator here, but Guts says something to the effect that the injuries he's sustained sure have taken a toll on him. As in, I must be seeing things.

Awesome, thanks a lot Walter!

I'm so excited to see how this tree thing develops. Among many, many, MANY other things  :guts:

I absolutely fucking LOVE how the beast is looking. Superb doesn't begin to describe it.

Question: On page 19, when Guts is looking out of the window, can he see the branches going across the moon? Obviously I can't read the text by that panel, but I don't see any question marks or anything that hints that Guts is questioning what it is he's seeing. If he can't, I'm definitely curious as to why. Any thoughts?

I think my favorite line from isidro in 36 is when isma sees guts transform and heads out to meet the sea god, and she asks if all knights are like that, to which isidro replies, "knights? The don't even make humans like that!"

Berserk Merchandise / Re: Max Factory/Berserk collaboration Limited Figma
« on: October 01, 2012, 02:56:04 AM »
It comes with 3 heads but there all the different forms of his helmet.
I like that the figma figures come with all these extra heads so u really can have it displayed anyway you like  :ubik:

Do we know what the forms are? I've seen berserker and sane, is the third like a transitional stage between the two?

Wonder how long it'll be available. I'm moving soon and I'd rather wait till September to order this, but I'm worried it might be out of stock by then...

Same exact concern...which is why I said "Fuck it" and bought this bad boy  :slan:

Vintage Heisenberg  :ganishka:

2 Episodes left, holy hell. I have to wait another year for the rest?!  :mozgus:

In all seriousness, I'm OK with it. It's gonna be bitter sweet when it's over

I'm loving it. Definitely interested in purchasing it. Anyone who could keep info on it posted here, that would be fantastic!

I feel the same way. This may be the most satisfied I've been after a three episode run before a break (mainly due to the fact that these three episodes were relatively self-contained). The last three episodes are another example (in a long line of them) of why Berserk is so great.

I can't think of another series (TV, novel, or otherwise) that has stayed this good over such a long period of time. Some might argue it's gotten better as time has gone on (I'm one of them, by the way :iva:).

I'll second that. Having this boyhood arc is's awesome, and it has me quite content until the next episode. I think what I love most is how natural it felt, not like it was something thrown in for the sake of throwing it in, you know (as if Miura would do such a thing  :troll:)
Such a great transition between the sea god and whatever happens next!

So awesome, cannot wait to get a translation, although the pictures are really quite the gift  :ganishka:

It might just be me, but isn't the sons armor reminiscent of the sea god, or maybe the statue we saw of it a few episodes back?
