Berserk Merchandise / Re: Upcoming Griffith Figma
« on: February 12, 2012, 07:33:47 PM »
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand SOLD!! Ordinarily, I wouldn't shell out the cash for Griffith merchandise (I'm not a big enough fan of the character, nor do I like any of the sculpts that I've seen), but I'm really impressed with this bad boy! I really hope his helmet's visor isn't static--it'd be nice if we could have the option to open or close it for display.

Now, if only my Guts Figma would arrive here faster...:judo:

I managed to get the poster in Japan for $31.00 USD. (Comes with Bandana/Banner as well.) I feel pretty damn lucky considering the other poster prices are going for around $70.00 USD. Will also hopefully be subscribing to YA in a few weeks when I get more Berserk funds.

Nice catch!! How large is the flag? I'd imagine the length wouldn't be as large as the poster's. Time to go hit ebay..

Oh, man! 326 was delicious! I can't wait to see how Guts will get outta this cluster fuck! :beast:

Video Games / Re: Freakishly similar looking protagonists

I'm not complaining--for the most part, anyway. Snake and Jensen are pretty hot (it's a shame, too..I couldn't get into Deus Ex). :slan:

As for similarities? Yeah, I see it. You could say the same thing for the more recent JRPG male protagonists. Or most male JRPG characters in general. Yes, there are a few exceptions, but does anyone remember Kuja from Final Fantasy 9? Up until the end of the third disc or so, I swore up and down that dude was a chick, and was just the victim of a major translation error!  :magni:

Juuuuust finished taking Lost Odyssey out to dinner!  I'm currently playing Saint's Row the Third.  I've only played about two hours or so, but something about this one makes me want to go back and play the second installment, rather than this one.

Like Clara hinted at before, one of the CMs will show off the waterfall scene. Very nice!

HNNNGYAHHHHHHH! THE SCREEN SHOT AND COVER TO VOLUME 36 MAKES ME FEEL SPECIAL! :badbone: (Seriously, that would make one sweet poster).

My God, I am stoked for this!

I'm about to bust out some Guin Saga.  I finished the anime recently (apparently, it only adapted books 1-16)with mixed feelings, and some fans told me that I really needed to go back read the manga, as the anime condenses or leaves out some events for the sake of brevity.  I'll admit, I had to slog through the series up until the last 10 or 12 episodes or so until I hit pay dirt, but it was worth it in the long run. :beast:  I could definitely see where Miura may have been influenced with certain characters, and certain scenes! I just hope more than five volumes are published Stateside! ;_;

I'm also attempting to read further into my copy of Sun Tzu's Art of War that I've owned for eight years...not working out so well.  That book is so damned dry, when I open it up, sand and bleached cow skulls pour into my lap!

Berserk Anime / Re: Voice Acting in Berserk Animation
« on: July 28, 2011, 05:30:00 PM »
You can't be serious. His delivery is so stiff and awkward, it's like he's reading the script to himself in an effort to memorize it. Hopefully given the size of this project we'll get some quality folks on it.

Hold me in your arms, Aaz! :slan: I wasn't a fan of the Berserk dub choices myself.  I could tolerate Guts's actor somewhat, but Griffith's? Reminded me waaaaaay too much of Yuri Lowenthal.

I'd be happy with an English dub of the movie, provided the actors chosen aren't mediocre.

I don't know, I think this trailer actually looks promising. Not nearly as bad as what I expected.

I'm with you on this Aazealh! I was none too pleased when I read the synopsis, which is once again, deviating from Howard's original mythos :femto:, but this trailer looks like this movie will be a lot of fun! The actor also looks more faithful to the original character, compared to Ahhhhnold (Hollywood. Seriously?) from those terrible (yeah, I said it) Conan movies from the 80s.  It boggles my mind that Hollywood won't adapt one of Howard's Conan tales to the big screen, specifically "Black Colossus", "People of the Black Circle", or "Red Nails"!  I'd love to see an adaptation of "The Snout in the Dark"!

I don't know your budget, but if you have $300+ bucks, I highly recommend purchasing yourself one of BerserkBerserk's statues. The guy is our resident Berserk Michelangelo! :guts: I've done business with him recently (I bought one of his painted 1:6 scale "100 Man Killer" statue), and I can vouch for honesty and craftsmanship. Personally, I think his sculpts are superior to a lot of Art of War's releases. The pictures posted in the "1:6 Scale 100 Man Killer" thread fail to do his statues justice; they're truly remarkable to behold in person.  For a friggin' statue of a manga character, Guts looks like he's poised to rise from his seated position at any moment!

I'm currently playing Saints Row 2! The missions are goofy and irreverent, and dare I say I like game more than Grand Theft Auto! I just wish that the game offered more music choices for the radio, and perhaps a "talk show" similar to Chatterbox in GTA III.  I have also ceased calling Wendy's "Wendy's". It is now known as "Freckle Bitch's" :troll: (it's an in-game parody).

That's a pretty sweet find, guys! :isidro: Conrad was the last of the God Hand I would expect to show up; he's kind of...boring (and isn't he supposed to be reminiscent of a giant wood louse, rather than marine animal?)

This news makes my week! :judo:

I've tried a few volume covers. 27 or 28 would rule. The thing is, I seem to be having trouble cropping them so there's no text and all the key features of the art are present. I know there's a few "textless" versions of the cover art, but I'm having trouble finding them. I'm not sure where the "to go" places to get Berserk art are other than Google image search.

Gob, have you tried typing "Berserk Chronicles" into a search engine? They have a treasure trove of Berserk-related images!  :badbone:

I just beat Dead Space 2 yesterday afternoon..I was actually somewhat disappointed with it.  I preferred Dead Space's looming atmosphere, rather than Dead Space 2's fast paced bullet storm.  I was shouting all the colorful insults of the Insult Rainbow™, and "OH, YEAH!! GET SOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" most of the time. ..TREMENDOUSLY IMPRESSED. DEAD SPACE CANNOT POSSIBLY BRIDGE THE GULF BETWEEN ITSELF AND DEAD SPACE 2. DEAD SPACE 2 IS SUPERIOR IN EVERY ASPECT OF ITS PREDECESSOR! CONVERGENCE IS UPON US! ALTMAN BE PRAISED  :troll:

Griffith--

For the PS3, I recommend the Uncharted series and God of War III.

Now, one of you guys do me a favor...can any of you recommend a GOOD RPG game? I'm talking from PS3 on back, on any system except Sega Saturn, Gameboy Color, and Dreamcast (I don't own any of these systems..).  I am so sick of these "offline" MMOs that have permeated the traditional RPG market, masquerading as RPG games.

AND FOR EVERY PERSON THAT RECOMMENDS FINAL FANTASIES 12 OR 13, I WILL TORCH A COPY OF BERSERK.  :femto:

God of War: Ghost of Sparta.  So much better than Chains of Olympus.  So addicting too.  I believe I'm already on the last area.

The only problem with these prequels though is that they bring up some sizable story points that makes it not make sense to be touched upon in the later games on the time-line.

I just finished God of War: Ghost of Sparta myself. I think I'm in the minority when I say that I preferred Chains of Olympus's story to Ghost of Sparta's. What did you think of the staple "adult oriented ( :slan: )" mini game in Sparta's brothel? I normally roll my eyes at how juvenile these are in general, but I was not expecting to laugh so hard that I couldn't breathe!

I'm thinking about replaying Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals again.  That was a fun re-imagining of Lufia II (SNES) with a lot of potential, but it was ultimately wasted. I thought the story was somewhat weak, and the voice acting was bottom of the barrel BAD (fortunately, you can turn it off).  There's a patch floating around to replace the English "actors" (I use this term lightly) with their Japanese counterparts I'm thinkin' about giving a go.

It doesn't work like that. It's clearly not a binary relationship of 1 use = 1 lost sense. What SK said is that as Guts continues to use the armor, he would gradually lose "many things," including sight, color, warmth, taste, muscle control (trembling hands). Feel free to check the translation: http://www.skullknight.net/forum/index.php?topic=2905.0

All that being said, I'm dreading that it will take a heavy toll this time. The last time we saw it impact him was his vision, and that was a frightening experience for Guts. It could be even worse this time.

Wasn't his sense of taste already beginning to dull around the first encounter with the "Moonlight Boy"?  I haven't read that episode since it was first released, but I recall Guts pausing with a spoon of seafood stew in his mouth as if he was startled by its taste (or lack thereof).

I'll post just one figure for now.  For our birthday last year, I decided to be a man-child and pose Isaac cutting our cake with the ripper blades. My brother decided to alter the picture's coloration somewhat, so the figure's colors aren't quite true to form. According to IGN, Necromorphs have evolved; they can now camouflage themselves as delicious cakes from your local Publix® bakery, specifically yellow birthday cakes with butter cream frosting.  :troll:

Dead Space Isaac figure (bloody, ripper blades variant.  F.Y.E was out of the version with the plasma cutter... :judo:)

ISAAC! OH, GOD, YOU'RE ALIVE! THANK CHRIST! I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF KENDRA...LISTEN, WE DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME.  I NEED YOU TO GET TO THE BRIDGE--Yes, you'll have to fight through those again--ISAAC, NOW ISN'T THE TIME!  I NEED YOU TO GET TO THE BRIDGE WITH A STACK OF PAPER PLATES.  BUT FIRST, YOU'LL HAVE TO GO GET THEM FROM THE MESS HALL. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS...THE P-WAY LEADING TO THAT PART OF SHIP WAS OBLITERATED. YOU'LL HAVE TO CLIMB ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ISHIMURA, WHILE DODGING MICROMETEORS, ASTEROIDS, NECROMORPHS, AND GAMMA RAYS, AND SQUEEZE THROUGH A WINDOW ROUGHLY 2x2...

BZZZVRRRRrRRRrrrRRRRRRTttTtrrrTTTzztt!!!!!
