I have a sort of "why do this?" feeling for this. I think the original series is a kinda miracle that can't happen twice. It was 110 episode OVA + a few twenty-something episode long gaiden OVA series and some movies that were made over the course of a decade and it maintained a very solid style with perfect voice actors. The only things I think need improvement are the art consistency, animation, and the depth of the space battles. I'm scared that even if it is better in those regards, it won't go anywhere near the heights of the original series. I'm also not sure about the accuracy when it comes to the old adaptation, but either way it told the story extremely well.

I'll wait for good news on the studio, director, and voice actors, but I'm not holding my breath.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Vote for ANN to interview Miura

Voted, What voice actor did everyone pick?
Didn't pick any since I don't watch English dubs often enough to care. I did vote for Togashi, Urasawa, Fukumoto, Araki, Rumiko, and of course Miura for mangaka. Voted for Ikuhara, Leiji Matsumoto, and ABe for anime staffers. As much as I'd like Miura to get interviewed, I feel like only could ask the types of questions I'd be interested in and haven't been answered a million times. Still, it'd be interesting either way. Good luck ANN, I guess.

I'll Break You Bad.
Let me tell you about Heisenchu, the Electric Methhog Pokemon! :ganishka:

I'm glad that was one of Chris-chan's less cringeworthy/disgusting videos.

I learned through tweets today that EpicNameBro, a pretty okay Dark Souls youtube guy, got to not only play through and beat Dark Souls 2 already, but also got to work on the strategy guide for the game. It's pretty awesome that they're willing to hire people that got big in the fan community to do stuff like that.

He had very high praises for the game too, which is good. I hope I agree with him.

Oh yeah, it was the trailer. Didn't expect it to be taken down since it seemed to be through Game Informer's official youtube page... in any case, I share your sentiments Walter.

So much to see here that I don't even know where to start, but I can say that I"m hyped for March.

I like the political chess/leverage gauging, the snappy dialogue, and the uncertainty over who will live and who will die. But the pacing is frustrating. Are there any stories out there that have the charm of Game of Thrones but without the excessive teasing?
Read the book? Also Legend of the Galactic Heroes is great for political chess and snappy dialogue, better than GoT I'd say.

Where the fuck is that from?

Food of the Gods 2

Or if you want to watch an entire collection of clips like this including really nasty/awkward porn clips, The Whore Church vol 1. It has a lot of awkward/weird clips from tv, movies, and whatnot. Very depraved stuff.

Same. That demo sold me on the full game. I played it all last night.
I spent way more time in it than I really should have, I decided to get all the jobs maxed out on each character and was grinding in a non-optimal area for a long while. Even then, the game's battle system is perfect, it's fast, simple, and relies on the player having fun figuring out good combos of skills. Did you get all the bonuses? I think the only one I'm missing is the completion of the town.

Been playing quite a bit after a few months of only a bit of Dark Souls here and there. I finally fully beat Demon's Souls over the past few weeks, I got a 3DS for Christmas so I've been playing and loving Fire Emblem and Zelda. I got La Mulana on Steam, which is a really great "Metroidvania" style game full of crazy puzzles. I also downloaded the Bravely Default demo on 3DS yesterday and I've been having a blast with it,  I can't wait for the full game next month. The 3DS has got me so much more into games again, I'm looking forward to buying and playing Phoenix Wright 5, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, and SMT 4 along with many other titles.

When I saw "Aazealh,..." from the front page since it didn't show the full name of the thread I thought maybe you died or were stepping down, this is good too though. I mean much better.  :iva:

I got a 3DS for Christmas! A Zelda XL one, which comes with the game. Awesome as that is, the eShop has been down all day, so I haven't been able to download it yet. I haven't spoiled myself too much on it, so for better or worse I'm pretty excited to play it.

Speaking of Delos adding "su" to the end of random words, I've seen it a few times before in anime. The most recent of which is the main character of the new Gatchaman anime, Hajime. Another example is Zushi in Hunter x Hunter.

I really like these videos about the Fallout series, one about how how much better the immersion in NV is:
and one about choice and consequences in games overall:

I too got really bored of Fallout 3. It was basically Oblivion with guns and some really boring fake choices sprinkled throughout. It felt like they paid more for Liam Neeson than they did for anything else in the game. Exploring was sometimes fun, but generally unrewarding as hell. I feel like Bethesda's games these day are all about the illusion of exploration. They have a lot to do and are really really time consuming, but overall are very shallow and disappointing. It always feels weird to say how little fun I had in games like FO3 and Skyrim after I spent 30-100 hours in them, but they're just the types of games that you can get into for that long and still feel disappointed afterwards.

I didn't get into NV at all because of how FO3 was so boring to me, but I want to give it a try due to the issues I've heard were fixed in it. Even then, the engine holds the game back more than anything else. Speaking of which, I saw that FO 1, 2, and Tactics were free on GoG, but I already have them on steam. Go grab them if they're still up.

I've liked all of Lynch's films that I've watched so far. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should try The Straight Story, the weirdest thing he's done. :troll:

Right Stuff is having a 12 day Holiday sale with Berserk volumes 50% off.  I believe they are selling them in bundles.  Thought you guys might like to know.

Ah damn, I could use that last bundle, I don't have 34-37 in English yet, although I have 34 and 37 in Japanese.

I'll get it on PS3 when it first comes out and then PC later. It won't be too bad if you get a PS3 now Walter, they're not too expensive and you can play Demon's Souls on it. MGS4 too if you still have any interest in that. Also, Last Guar- HAHAHAHAHA

Finished Final Fantasy VIII tonight. Now, on to Final Fantasy IX! :guts:

How'd you like 8? I haven't played it in a very long time, but I did enjoy it when I played it. People over-exaggerate Squall's "emo" personality, but I can still see where the complaints come from. I really liked Rinoa at the time for some reason, not sure how I'd feel now if I went back to play it. FF9 is my favorite behind FF6, so I hope you enjoy that. It goes back to the roots of steam technology mixed with fantasy setting rather than FF7 and FF8's weirdly futuristic settings mixed with fantasy stuff.

Anybody that can translate Miura's comment? Apparently it's something simple like "This isn't keeping me from working on Berserk" but I'm not sure.

The "creatures" at the beginning seem to be giant war machines spewing out poison gas from the elephant tusks, I wonder how high tech the Empire is going to be.

Very nice! I like the main character, a kinda chubbybuff silly guy is a nice change from Guts. The city reminds me of some of the cities in Morrowind.
Confirmed for taking place in Slan's private dimension??? :slan:

Got access to the 3 hour network test for DS2. Anyone else from here participating?
Yep, I'll be playing tomorrow. I was ready to do it during the last network test but it messed up for NA sadly. Hopefully this one goes smoother.

Played the beta and had a good deal of fun. I'm sad that it was so short though! I can't wait til March now. Enemies are a lot smarter now in how they hit you. If something does a running attack at you, he's not going to hit at nothing and then just sit there, he'll run until he's right at you and then hit, leaving a much smaller window to dodge. Enemies do combo attacks now and dodge at the end of them so you can't just take advantage of them petering out and sitting there for a second. A nice surprise came during the last 30 min where they said they were testing HARD MODE. It seems there will either be difficulty settings, they were testing NG+ style enemies, or they'll have similar things to Demon's Souls where the world is affected by some events that can make enemies much harder or easier.
