It was also just like how the demon child used to protect Casca from anything evil that was out to get her. Interesting.

Though I don't think it's very likely, I would really like it if he did turn out to be some aspect of the kid.  Or at least an ocean-wish manifestation based on him.

It's been quite a while in Berserk, since something cute like him turned out to be vile.  I really don't think he's going to turn out to be flat-out malevolent, at a wild baseless guess I think he'll just be..  complicated.  Some good things about him but he complicates the situation by needing rescue/treatment for some wierd things wrong with/after him.

And if he is taken away or disappears, is not Casca going to completely freak?

An outside possiblity that I didn't notice suggested yet is that he is bait sent by Griff to lure Casca and therefore Guts to him, or to their doom or whatever.

And this may be the wrong place to post this, but I colored a page from this chapter:

I intend to color a page from each new chapter so when the next one comes out, everyone message me which one you'd like to see colored ;)

Nice work, Dragon Slayer!  You've inspired me to try...  here's the finished version of the page I was working on, of Isidro fighting, from the current story!

I think it came out pretty badass...

Nice work!!  It really does look like  oldschool American graphic novel style colors.  Very badass.

I got excited about all the colored in pages in Creation Station lately and tried it myself.    Have a look!

It's Isidro fighting, from chapter 239.  I would love to get some advice on colors!!  Since the fight is in moonlight but I didn't know how to get that effect besides a blue cast to the colors.  Plus I don't know the colors of all Isidro's stuff!  If anyone would like to use the image to make avatars or whatever, please feel free.

Lithrael. I need 3 probably.

No prob.  I have plenty.  Much as I don't want to undercut Chris, if you're having them shipped to Holland, it will save you around $15 shipping if you get all four from me and have them sent together..  I'll also discount the Beherits a little extra to offset your shipping costs.  But whatever :)  Just instant message me (click over on the left there) and let me know.

Anyone that misses out on this deal for closed Beherits, I have a ton that will continue to be available for board members here for at least a year or two.

Kijo, Yvan, I haven't forgotten about you, I'm just a slow bastard!!  *chuckle* If by the time I send your Beherits you don't need them anymore then they're yours free.

Wow.  That kicks ass.  Thank you for going to such trouble!  I'd been curious to know more about him but I'm not so good about sifting through mushy babelfished info pages.

Also, I do still have dormant (sleeping) Beherits for sale for $10 shipped in the USA, if you miss getting one from Explosion.

*chuckle* I didn't get them to put on Ebay, I got them for this board, so that nobody here would have to pay $18 for one on Ebay..  Though nobody's actually asked for one yet.  So they'll all be living in my closet lookin all evil and creepy and scaring the cat till such time as someone wants one and like, emails me and stuff.  Maybe later, once there's not so many on Ebay, my offer will actually be useful.

I also (finally) got mine and I have around 10 extra sleeping Beherits for anyone here who missed getting one from Explosion.  I'm gonna try to do them for $10 including shipping in the US.  I'm prolly gonna paint a few grey/green like the one Guts was carrying around for so long..  gotta find pictures of that one.

Anyway, throw me an email or a msg if you still needs yer becchis!  I'll help out everyone I can.

Heheheh.  I'm picturing some sort of Clamp's 'X - The Destiny War' style flick, introducing and killing cool apostle after cool apostle with badass animation and a scrap of plot holding them together - all of which only the fans of the comics will particularly understand.

Forget trying to actually do the manga as an anime but I must admit I'd check in for an hour and a half of really expensive animation that was just Guts and his lil crew versus a couple of apostles.

Of course...  any desire I have for some new badass animation will probably be completely satisfied by the cutscenes of that upcoming PS2 game.

Last I heard, Toycom is trying hard to get all the delays straightened out and ship the stuff all the US retailers have been waiting for.  I'll drop another note as soon as I know they are shipping.

It was just plain poorly done.  It's a fine start, but after you've gone through the manga, it's trash.
Well, the first ep was nicer to look at than Volume 1, though.  Apart from the absence of Puck...
I did (and still do) enjoy the anime quite a lot..  the quality is uneven, yes, but there are plenty of scenes that *do* look great.
But yeah, the manga = HOLY SHIT pretty much all of the time...

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re:Dark Horse Manga info please post here

The only comments I really have about it so far are negative..   the typos (on what, like the second page?  Geez..)  the bad registration on the cutting of the pages (images going off the edge of the book, with too much white space in the middle..  not a big deal, no)  and the bad reproduction of the cover image.  Side by side, it's glaringly obvious.  Even a color xerox of the old cover looks WAY better than this reproduction..  what's up with that?  The interior art is printed slightly darker than the original as well, so you lose some of the details when things get all cross-hatchy and zip-tone-y.

Also, to my chagrin, the book is a liiiiittle too big to put the dustjacket from the original on it.  heheh.

However, of course, it's nice to be able to read Berserk!  I'll be buying them as long as they keep putting them out.

That version is the one I have and there is no English dubbing.
But the DVDs were definitely not was simply the HK version.

Reeeally.  Huh.  I don't think I've *ever* seen a legit HK release sold outside of HK.  Apart from the odd kung fu movie.  Even most of those are HK pirates.  You have to look pretty hard to find a legit release from HK being sold over Ebay or in, say, the US.  I've definitely never seen a legit Berserk HK release.

A pirate DVD can be a real, pressed DVD.  You can't say for sure it's not a bootleg just because it's not an obvious burned DVD like you often run across at cons.

But if you're saying yours has unfuckedup subs and does not say '' or something similar anywhere..  well, I guess you found one.  Neat.

All I can say is be warned that Toycom has been kind of choppy with info.  ExplosionToys probably is giving out this new date because one of the Toycom folks promised the Beherit would be shipping around October.  Bear in mind that at the beginning of the year, Toycom was implying they'd be shipping in the next few weeks, all the way up till late summer, when they said December.

I (still) have a few cases on order in case anyone ends up not getting one from Explosion.  Ideally I'll receive them soon after they ship so I can give y'all a heads-up on when to start bugging Explosion about your preorders..  *chuckle*

Hmm.. neat.  I wonder how big they are.

Incidentally, I do still have a few cases of the old Art of War dormant Beherit on order for the board.  They finally got back to me with a more solid date for the US distributor's date for restock, which is now late December.  In the meantime, geez, I ought to sell my Beherit on Ebay to pay for those cases!

...hey..  just an extra tidbit here..  I just realized that Farzad Varahramyan, the absolute best ever ever ever character design guy, is working for Sammy..  So if he's helping out in any way for the final CG look of the game it will be BEAUTIFUL all the way through.

Shootin' the Breeze / Re:Berserk Manga Scanlations
« on: June 01, 2003, 10:39:34 PM »
Scanslations are one of those messy things.  I completely agree with all the negative things about them.  However, all my favorite books, Berserk and Hellsing, I own in both hardcopy and scanslation...  just because they are very, VERY hard to read from plain text translations (although I love the text translations as well!  I love them!  I huggle them!)

..Perhaps it will amuse someone to know that for some of the less dialogue-ey scenes of Berserk I've pasted in translations on teeny cut-out post-it notes so I can read them without having to boot up my computer at all...  Yes..

I'm sure there are lots of fans like me who have both, or who guiltily have scans and spend their cash on other Berserk items and plan to get the manga when they can.
..But in the end, as much as I enjoy scanslations they present problems economically for the industry and if they were not available, I would absolutely 100% be happy with my tankoubon and a big stack of text translations.
Cause it really sucks to see all these stupid kids on Ebay getting loads of free money for other people's work, including the scanslators' work..  and other stupid kids spending the money they could have spent on legit stuff, buying scanslations.
Unless someone wants to make it their crusade to instruct every Ebay bidder how to leech off IRC, scanslations definitely, observably hurt Berserk.

I have 15 Beherits on the way (at least they haven't told me yet that my order's not being filled) specifically for the denizens of this board.  I'll let you know when I have them, it'll still be a few weeks though...

Sleeping Beherits, that is.. the eyes-closed ones...

Manga Mausoleum / Beherit apostle a sacrifice?
« on: May 12, 2003, 04:09:04 AM »
Admittedly I didn't try very hard, but I haven't figured out exactly what was going on with the Beherit apostle...  Its tongue was branded.  When did that happen?  How was it a sacrifice?

Berserk Merchandise / Re:Beherit still available!
« on: May 11, 2003, 08:48:06 PM »
Toycom, the US distributor of Art Of War stuffs, still has both types of Beherit available for stores to order, I believe.  At least they did at the beginning of the year.  I should be getting an updated purchase order list rom them pretty soon; I'll keep you updated.  I'm definitely getting a case or two of sleeping Beherit myself.  I'm sure there's one or two of you here that deserve one as a present...

Shootin' the Breeze / Re:Worst Anime you ever Bought and why
« on: May 03, 2003, 11:14:10 PM »
Hmm..  I do love Hellsing but yes..  for the style.  If it had kept on with the manga it would have been *so* nice.  I wanted to see vampires vs. nazis!  Come on!  Unfortunately we got Incognito instead, looks like they spent about five minutes on that idea.
I reccommend the first half of the Hellsing anime. After that they're mostly just making up the story.

The Hellsing manga does indeed kick ASS.  Pity there's only partial translations for a few of its volumes.  Hellsing and Berserk are the only books I've been picking up regularly, really.

Blood on the other hand I didn't enjoy at all.  It was pretty but *far* too slow and seemed to be just part of a story.  Part of an uninteresting story.  I enjoy music vids made out of its best bits though!

Berserk Merchandise / Re:Figures and others
« on: April 06, 2003, 05:46:23 AM »
Well, as luck would have it I have spiffy up-to-date knowledge for US distribuion of Berserk suff...  Toycom's the US distributor for Art Of War (they supply to Suncoast etc).  So stuff you should still be able to get in the US includes:

Action figs:  Hawks Guts and Skull Knight (Millenium Guts is already gone, and they had Femto for a bit but I guess he's gone too unless they bring in some more)

Minifig versions of the 5 older figures (these are the like.. trading figure sized versions of the figures, ~ 3 in.)

Statues:  Hawks Guts, Casca, Griffith, Nutty Casca, Millenium Griffith (the standing one, not the horsey one), Stupid Chibi Puck, Zodd (the old one w/ the open mouth and no wings), and the Beherit (sleeping (B) or hollering (A) versions).  Only they spell Beherit 'Befferit.'

Beherit come in cases of 6 from Toycom.  I'm gonna get me some!!

Cause it's gonna really suck for Guts if everyone loves Griffith and he shows up one day and lops his head off.
Kinda like it sucked when ... (snip)

Do I need to continue?

Erm.. I'm not contesting the huge number of sucky things which happen in Berserk.  Or trying to suggest that's not gonna happen just cause it'll suck...  I'm just saying, y'know, that'll suck too.

And no, I'm not annoyed that Griffith isn't all like 'hahaha, I destroy you now!!'  ..heh..  I'm just wondering if he's planning on being a good tyrant to Midland, or if he's gonna go on w/ his aloof to the world attitude and will only be nice to them so long as they're part of his plan, ie only appear to be a good tyrant...

I loved doombaby though.  I hope something really horrible happens and he crawls out Griffith's eye or something.

Character Cove / Re:Griffith the good guy
« on: April 03, 2003, 07:55:20 PM »
Sorry to swing this back on topic...

Where I'm getting lost in the story now...  Is in what in the HELL Griffith's doing.  Cause it looks, at least from the translations I read a while back (haven't read through the ones here yet so they may be different) that he's not, as yet, acting like an asshole in any way at all.  Apart from the demonic flesh-hungry troops an' all.

How likely is it (if at all) that he's going to actually do his best to kick ass and win Midland for himself?  It doesn't look like anyone who remembers the badass deeds of the band of the hawk would oppose him or even mind if he took over the place.

And then just take his demon army to start kicking down the doors of all the neighboring countries...  take over the world etc etc....

I guess it amounts to what kind of leader he wants to be?  What's he want to do with his country?  What's he really want?

  I mean WTF, Griffith?

Cause it's gonna really suck for Guts if everyone loves Griffith and he shows up one day and lops his head off.
