Shootin' the Breeze / Roger Waters: The Wall tour 2010
« on: October 08, 2010, 03:40:46 AM »
So I grew up listening to Pink Floyd because my parents love the band. My dad introduced the band to Mom and he'd make mix tapes of albums from em, etc. etc. while he was courting her. For me, their music is personal, reminding me of my childhood and a bunch of memories. When I heard Waters was playing The Wall, I had to watch ... come what may. I was reeeaaally tempted to pick up the 1+K ticket but settled for 460-480$ and a decent seat as you'll see below. This was at Madison Square Garden, my first concert at the venue. I don't have a lot of pictures because I was holding my camera in my right hand recording songs, I'd switch a few times just to take a snap or two ... so here goes

The Intermission Message

The pig with huge fans to give help make it float versus being suspended from the top with wires

This is easily the biggest concert I've been to, and I don't think anything will top it, unless Gilmour gets touring! Knowing all the songs, singing along, I couldn't stop smiling and pinching myself I was experiencing it. I called home inspite of the time differential and woke my bro, dad, mom to listen to Waters. I didn't tell them I was going, or that there was such a concert even, so it sorta caught em offguard, breaking down (in tears) over the phone. That for me was priceless.

Is anyone else going? Check his tour dates and book!

EDIT: Here're a few pictures off my BBerry as I took videos with my other camera.

Shootin' the Breeze / Frozen & Ready to Eat foodz
« on: October 04, 2010, 02:44:41 AM »
I was at a friends place for dinner, and I love to cook my food from scratch using spices, vegetables, meats, etc. My friend who invited me for dinner used to be a sushi chef, and she shares the same passion for cooking. I was surprised to eat a couple of dishes at her place last night off ready to eat (microwavable) packs. And funnily enough, I loved what I ate! I had a garlic~y potato dish, took some Humus on the side to eat with chips and borrowed some spring onions to go with. There was this microwavable corn dish, salmon dish, and a pre-marinated full chicken that she grilled for 40 minutes.

What're some of your favorite frozen or ready to eat foods? Do you guys usually go to a certain place to buy em so it's inexpensive like a Superwalmart/ Costco/ Freshdirect etc.?

p.s. I did a search for a similar topic and couldn't find one, but if there is, I request you to please merge this and apologize in advance.

Berserk Merchandise / Houma Grunberd

This came in today as well, along with Irvine, in a huge carton. It wasn't too heavy, but I didn't want to risk taking it in the subway, so I caught a cab from downtown, all the way to Queens, a good break from the subway at least! Here are some pictures ...

I LOVE this statue. The colors are so rich, it feels slithery with it's metallic shimmer, the detail of everything ... from his face, teeth, claws, skin tone is pretty darn good.

It came in this morning at my work place, and I couldn't wait to get home ... here's a few pictures to take you through the unboxing ...

It's small in it's appearance, but you can notice the level of detail when you click photographs with the Flash 'on'. If this was 2 times as big, it would be incredible.

Character Cove / Skull Knight's missing spike
« on: August 24, 2010, 01:54:16 PM »
I spotted something a while ago, and on a random re-read, I saw that he was missing the front left big horn (Volume 26, page 67 when he appears before Slan and Guts), and it looks like it was cut/ broken/ damaged in battle. Later on, we see it's fixed or regenerated to the original form. What're your theories on who he may have fought for that to have happened? I don't know if there was a reference for it. Also, notice how the art in the beginning showed his lower big thorns a lot shorter than they currently appear. Does that mean his suit is somewhat evolving or is it a simple way to show he's older or is it just the art that's improved?

Movies, TV, Books & Music / The Horror Movie Thread
« on: August 11, 2010, 03:31:50 PM »
I looked around and couldn't find one, so voila ^_^ ... the topic on The Descent sort of fueled my interest because there were a lot of good comments on there.

To be honest, I prefer psychological horrors or intelligent ghost/ supernatural stories over mindless zombie/ gore movies. I mean, the latter are fun, but can get boring for me these days, except a few like FIDO!! I'm a big fan of Asian horror movies too. Some movies I like ...

Pet Semetery.
The Thing (Carpenter).
Event Horizon.
Ringu (Original).
Dark Water (Original).
Ju-On (Original).
A Tale Of Two Sisters (Original).
Noroi.
Sakebi.
Kairo aka Pulse (Original).
Rofotu.
Korei.
Cure.
Inside.
The Things (Original).
REC.
Quarantine.
The House.
Hell-Raiser I and II.
Alien and Aliens. Alien III had immense potential, but lacked a better script or storyteller of a director.
The Shining.
The Night Flier.
In The Mouth Of Madness.
Splinter.
The Exorcist.
The Exorcism Of Emily Rose.
The Changeling.
IT.
Poltergeist cos it's a cool classic, decent fun.
The Silence Of The Lambs.
Jaws.
Pans Labyrinth for it's story telling.
Audition (Original).
Hansel & Gretel.
Night Of The Living Dead.
Dawn Of The Dead.
Saw.
The Descent.
The Orphanage.
Ginger Snaps.
Frailty.
The Fog.
Dog Soldiers.
The Crazies (Original).
Anti-Christ.
Event Horizon ... cos it's fun!

And, The Human Centipede was a disappointing bore >_<'

My brain just broke ... can't think of any more titles at this moment :zodd:

Post em in here! I'm not sure if there is another topic for the same thing.

I need to get myself a show-case or something like DirectDK, and I've got these currently on a glass table.

Admiral Smoker

Sir Crocodile

Luffy (Strong World version)

Tashigi

Nico Robin

Usopp (is pretty playful with the kind of accessories he comes with)

Kuma joins in ... he's massive!

That's him doing his move of compressing air in the series ...

And ...

I thought the movie deserved it's own topic! I mean, let's face it ... it looks epic.

I'm a fan of the original movie, watched it numerous times growing up cos dad had a VHS of it. The chicks in Legacy look HOT.

Shootin' the Breeze / Insomnia
« on: July 17, 2010, 12:26:41 PM »
Not the movie!

Uhhmm do any of you have problems sleeping??

For me, I can't sleep before 1 or 2 am, and I think it's part fault of my body clock conditioned to sleep at around then (from the time I passed 10th grade and was allowed to have the intahnetz), and part fault of either being on the laptop or in front of the TV. I wake up at around 6 like clockwork everyday and I'm a fairly heavy sleeper - you can kick me, and I won't wake up haha! But, I'm sure it's unhealthy to sleep for lesser hours than the usual 8, I presume.

What's your experience been?

I have a lot of left over/ backup or unused sleep hours that it takes me literally 5-10 seconds to go to sleep if I decide to or simply close my eyes. I did notice last month that when I'd overate, I'd fall asleep so easily so early that it got rid of my dark circles :guts:. Only down side to that was putting on 18 pounds in 6 weeks :rawr:

Shootin' the Breeze / Meow~ (uhhmm Hi)
« on: July 16, 2010, 03:43:23 PM »
Hello there ^_^

I lurked the board for about a few seconds before realizing that I had to Register, and voila, I'm here thanks to the granted admission of the Moderators.

I guess I'm your usual bloke who digs music, anime, manga, movies, some games here and there (though not a lot to be honest, more old school games on NES, SNES, the works). I grew up listening to a lot of Brit Classic Rock, and it sort of progressed to Death/ Black/ Doom/ Viking/ Grind within metal. I goof around on the guitar from time to time, but whatever *has no talent hahaha* >_>'. When it comes to anime or manga, I'm extremely picky and am drawn to depressing series somehow *that's because you're singlesinglesingle, duh, no-brainer*. I came to the US about 3 and a half years ago, and so far so good. NYC is expensive, and I have no savings, but it's something I plan to work on *dicey ...* ... *checks credit card statement in disgust* uhhmm yeah. I work at a law firm here specializing in US Immigration, and want to study a little further than the MBA I have.

Uhhmmm what else what else ... *taps fingers* oh yeah, speaking of Berserk, this being a Berserk forum and all ... I watched the series about 5-6 years ago, and loved it. The whole 'betrayal' between Grif and Guts drew me in to the story a lot more. I then looked for the manga, and began picking them up one by one, slowly, I couldn't afford the shipping, and there'd always be theft with packages in general, like I had to order my set of volumes 9, 10, 11 again because it never got to me! I'm upto to 30 now, and will check if anything more than that is available.

I keep up with One Piece, Claymore, Drifters, Hajime No Ippo, Hunter X Hunter, and a few other series on frequent basis.

Otakon happened for me about 2 years ago for the first time, and in 2 weeks it'll be my 3rd outing there. My friends kid around by calling me pRon (which sounds close to my name) cos I'm their walking-talking guru when it comes to H stuff X'D. Oh well : p ... that's a bit about me.

I admit being late with the whole buying Berserk figures or any figures of the sort, but I guess now was the right time for whatever reasons. I didn't know of Art Of War till fairly recently, and also stumbled on this site as a result of it. So, I picked up my first Berserk figure off another website, and it cost me 30-40$s cheaper just on the figure alone, and another 30-40 on shipping. Was lucky I guess :p

Here're some pictures:

I'm just a little disappointed that I didn't pick this up off Art Of War because of the extra blood coupons, maan, that's a cool concept! But, yeah, the blood on the sword is not exactly red-red, and I wish there were a little more. What would you recommend I do?

Comes out tomorrow night (midnight), and I have a feeling it'll be pretty good. Nolan's good at what he does, and the cast is amazing, hell, the plot too. I hope it does well! I'm gonna probably watch it with a close pal next week when he gets paid, damnit :puck:.

Anyone else going to see it this weekend?
