Speculation Nation / Re:The Bastard Son of Fate
« on: September 10, 2003, 01:28:09 AM »
Your theory has some good points, but in some parts you are just cramming squares into circular holes. The fact that Serpico is beat up by some bullies and is lying in the snow is not quite the same as when Guts is lying under the full moon after having killed the only father he ever knew, and being hunted down by the men he has gone to battle with, and being on the brink of death after plunging down a huge cliff. The point about the rabbit being like the ecclipse is WAY too much of an over analyzation. Its just a stuffed animal, even if it meant something to her. More than anything the rabbit is a representation of the relationship she wanted with her father. When he asks her to burn it, it is merely a confirmation of the truth, that they don't really have a relationship. "Stay away or I'll burn you is not equivalent to when Griffith thinks "Don't touch me" prior to the Ecclipse; the degree of emotion between those two is astounding. The fact that Griffith and Farnese have the same kind of hair is not evidence of anything. By the same standards Zodd in many ways is like Guts, they have huge swords, and black spiky hair. The first time Zodd is introduced he is doing what Guts always does, holding back an army on his own. MAYBE THEY ARE BROTHERS?????! Many of the characters in Berserk parrallel each other. But I do not see Serpico and Farnese as a direct reflection of Griffith and Guts' relationship. The argument can be made that there are things in common, there are, but I do not feel that Miura has presented their relationship in such a way that you are supposed to instantly think "Oh its Griffith and Guts." The argument can easily be made that their relationship is like Casca and Guts, or even Griffith and Casca. Their relationship in itself is its own relationship. One thing to note, I can only think of one time when Miura has done this, but I can also only think of one time when Miura has CLEARLY tried to parralell a relationship between characters. When Guts is preparing to assasinate Yurius, and he sees Adonis and Yurius training. Guts flashed back to his training with Gambino. And after he kills Yurius and is injured in the sewer, he dreams about a monster killing Gambino and then himself, and the monster bearing his face. At that point it is clear that Yurius is like Gambino, and Adonis like Guts as a child. And in both instances Guts has been the killer.

It looks like parts of Grunbeld aren't covered by the crystals, parts of his arms, etc. I think the best place to aim for is the inside of his mouth. Right up into that brain.

Speculation Nation / Re:Who do you think Zodd sacrificed?
« on: September 07, 2003, 03:29:57 AM »
As far as his origins go, I feel like he is Kushan in decendance, with the sword and all? It must be a weapon he was familiar with. Zodd puts such an emphasis on finding stronger opponents, I could see a scenario where Zodd found himself sacrificing his opponent. Perhaps an enemy/friend that he had great respect for as a fighter. I'm not sure what would have happened to make him so desperate to attain such power, Perhaps Zodd was severely injured and could no longer continue fighting, like Griffith, or he was defeated by the hands of this guy and he couldn't take it, or something like that. It is speculatin of course.

Speculation Nation / Re:What if Guts is alrdy an apostle?

Guts' Beherit changing was the result of Slann's presence. I guess her demonic presense was powerful enough to cause the Beherit to change. Or I was thinking the following. Everytime you see a Godhand, a Beherit is involved. And the Beherit must call out to the Godhands for them to come, maybe if they show up on their own, the Beherit changes anyways. Something like you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, and if you get an omelette the egg is going to break somewhere. That is a really really dumb analogy, but its all I could think of.

I think if Farnese pulled on Serpico what she did to Guts when she was all possessed, you know getting all naked, getting cozy with the DS. Serpico would throw the fact that he is her brother out the window. I think Farnese is gonna tempt Guts again sometime. Maybe watching Guts with another girl will snap Casca back to her senses.

I feel like Skull knight could be easily worked in, they'd have to cut out the part where Guts meets him for the first time, and maybe consolidate it into the Ecclipse. They'd have to write in Puck in some other situation. I feel a good way to start a Second Series would be with the Snail-Count, parralleling the first series with the Snake-baron. And then when they are in the Escher dimension, you know where the God-hand hangs out, Guts could flash back to the Ecclipse, and how he got rescued. The second series would have to be longer than the first, maybe twice as long. And honestly, what cutoff point for a second series is there in the manga up til now.

Listen people, I used the colours that I thought looked preferable. Reds and the like did not do this piece justice. Of course, it's a fair bet I got the colours wrong, hell, we all thought Schierke had brown hair once upon a time! I just used contrasting colours that worked and would pull of the right effect. Having a one-tone creature would look shite anyway. If you dislike my choice of colours, then create something of your own and I'll be the judge of whether you were right or not.

I e-mailed Art of War today too. It's unlikely they'll get back to me, but the Japanese seem to love the English, which might increase my luck! Kind of hard filling out an e-mail form to Japanese too... :-\

End Note: Lady Griffith, what are the chances they'll release Grunbeld?

I was thinking that he needs another color besides red, possibly gold?

( (you can find all the action figures  with images)

At the Art of War Site, on the product list, towards the bottom, who is that guy with the fan? That isnt a Berserk character is it?

Isn't a Ballista a giant catapault or something? Irvine's bow reminds me of a scorpion for some reason. Maybe a scorpion that shoots stuff?

if rhakshas is an apostle he seems very snakelike. I know there was that snake-baron already, but he was a glorified Cobra Commander. I could see him being a giant snake. I still don't think Locus is an apostle.

Shootin' the Breeze / Re:Which anime would you like to be adapted?

I don't think a Berserk live action movie would turn out very good, thats just me though. They'd trash the anime more than the anime trashed the manga.

I gotta ask how was Guts able to crack something almost as hard as diamond with an iron sword? I mean, it's been covered that the sword has some enchanted properties, but it still chips and cracks like a regular sword, or has it transcended the physical world completetly?

Maybe you can chalk it up to the fact that Guts exists inbetween the Astral world and the Physical world? Maybe that physical property of Grunbeld's crystal hide isn't as significant in the Astral realm.

Have any of you seen a movie called Requiem for a Dream? There is this one song on that soundtrack that would be awesome for Berserk, in my opinion, its called Summer Overture by the Kronos Quartet. It was recently used in a trailer for the Two Towers DVD. There is a remixed version by Delirium called Deluxed. Maybe I'll work on that.

You should get a smack for that.... Comeon, Vin Diesel cant even act, if there ever was a Berserk live action movie (something Ive contemplated writing even) the person playing Guts would have to have some degre of acting ability, let alone have the sature (granted Vin does have that.. but THATS IT)

Sorry I was ranting....

He was being sarcastic

Anyone ever listen to the Trigun OST? I thought a lot of songs from there were amazing. I just saw Radiohead live, and they are amazing. I like nearly everything. But Creed is god awful.

if you want help ripping dvds, go to

in response to Walter, now I remember why I thought Skullknight was potentially an apostle. When Guts and company are rescueing Griffith, way back in I forget what volume, Charlotte is talking about Gaiseric and how the tower underground is the ruins of the past. And they show a bunch of skulls with brands on them. In retrospect this is why I have the notion that Skullknight is or was an apostle, and based on the sheer number of bones, a Godhand? Based on the more recent chapters I can see how those sacrificial bones could be one of the other Godhands' sacrifices'. Still if the Eclipse happens every 200 something years, and assuming a Godhand is born every time, I feel like there should have been more than 4 Godhands before Femto came along. And when Guts first meets Skullknight, he mentions how it is the same feeling as when he met Zodd? Maybe this should go in the speculation section.

Well, I've only read it through once, seems I missed something?
