Shootin' the Breeze / I just got hired at Media Blasters (Berserk)!!!
« on: June 29, 2007, 05:05:57 PM »
For those that don't know, Media Blasters is the company that licensed and released Berserk on DVD in the US, as well as other big animes like Rurouni Kenshin, and Ah My Goddess.  I got hired as a video editor so I'm quite excited =).

Funny thing though, when I went in for my interviews, the waiting room has two giant glass display cases of random collectibles of anime they have licensed, and I saw their Berserk stuff... tsk tsk... and it needs some work. =P  They had a lot of the mini figs, a few Puck statues, and some 1/10 scale PVCs, but maybe I can bring some of my statues/kits and put them in the cases temporarily to spice things up a bit. :guts:

Berserk Merchandise / AOW - Guts vs Zodd Diorama - PREORDER! =)
« on: June 27, 2007, 04:21:38 AM »
Art of War definitely is going the diorama route, as we have recently seen with the 100 Man Fight.  I just got this email from them:

As a special project simultaneous with the re-televising of the Berserk anime by ANIMAX (Japan), ART OF WAR has decided to release an item recreating the strained scene when the Black Swordsman & human Zodd fought each other on snow. While please note that this item won’t be released if the number of pre-orders within the entry period is under 2,000. Pre-ordering is accepted at ANIMAX online shop. (Please refer to the product page for more details.)

Entry Period:
29 June~ 30 July (Japanese time) on ANIMAX’s online-shop →

Can't really tell too much from this picture, but PLEASE PREORDER =))))).

PS Also, I know this has been discussed countless times before... but what is this "re-televising" thing?  Is it they are showing the series on tv again?  Or could it be they are making another anime?

Very interesting!  T.J GrosNet is releasing an exclusive AOW statue of Zodd III.  It's produced by AOW, but you can't buy it on their website.  From what it seems, it looks like we will have to go through a 3rd party to buy this (ie: Masato), but not sure yet.  If anyone finds out any more info that would be awesome.  Here are 4 links that AOW gave me:

Here are the stats (I think):
Size: 400mm tall, 520mm wide
Limitation: 500
Release Date: 2007 August

Note: Given the pose of the statue, if it's 400 mm (40 cm) tall, then the scale seems quite large.  The 2nd Zodd Apostle form is 370 mm, and Zodd is standing straight up.  Not sure what to think if this new one is taller than the 2nd Zodd and he's leaning forward.  Also, with a arm-span of 520 mm???  Seems pretty big.  Possibly a 1/10 scale, or is it just wishful thinking?

And here are some pics:

Berserk Merchandise / The Lost Episode on YJ!
« on: April 02, 2007, 07:12:03 AM »

Cool collector's piece, although not something on my priority list as of now.  I don't recall seeing this on YJ before.  Has anyone else?  I'm curious to know how much it will end up selling for...

Berserk Merchandise / Wonder Festival 07 Kits
« on: February 27, 2007, 02:26:58 PM »
Hello all!

As some of you might know, WF07 just passed (it was on Feb 25th, in Japan).  Wonder Festival happens twice a year (once in Winter, once in Summer), and it's the biggest garage kit convention of Japan.  There is also World Hobby Festival (WHF), which happens more frequently, but it's not as big.

Anyways, I recently won (as in 20 minutes ago), a brand new Guts kit that was released by Heavy Gauge.  Here is what it looks like:

Although this pose (sword over shoulder) has been done so many times, I personally think this is the best/most dynamic one.  I could be a little biased though, because Heavy Gauge is one of my FAVORITE kit manufacturers.  When I found out that they released a Guts kit, I was going nuts!!!  I REALLY hope they release a few more.  In the past, they have often released a small line of kits for one series (ie, Street Fighter, Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure, etc).

Here is a link to their website:

Basically, you want to click on the links under "Topics" and "Contents".  For those that are curious, here are the kits that I own from them (non-Berserk):
Jubei (Ninja Scroll):
Haohmaru (Samurai Spirits):
Akuma (SF):
Ryu/Ken (SF):

Anyways, getting back on topic, I think they could make an awesome Berserk line.  I sure hope they do!

And with regards to other "new" Berserk kits, these kits did not debut at WF07, but they are still relatively new:

Headlong: Count Apostle (

If you go to his blog, you can see a cool event photo pic.

Engraver: Mozgus Disciple (last one of this guy's collection I believe) (

Sorry it's such a lame photo.  I've seen a painted one before (the one up above is just a work-in-progress), but I don't seem to know where it is right now.

Anyways, I'm sure there were some more Berserk kit debuts at this past WF07, but I've been a little under the radar as of late.  Hopefully, I (or someone else, Aaz?) can add some more to this thread.

PS. I'm sorry whoever I outbid for the Guts kit.  I know it was another Masato customer, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a SK member.  To be honest, though, I'm pretty sure it'll pop up again on YJ considering the kit was JUST released a few days ago.  However, one thing to note, is that Heavy Gauge kits are pretty rare, and sometimes only release kits one time at a single convention.  So if you see it again, don't hold back!

Berserk Merchandise / AOW - Guts & Zodd: "Desperate Attack"
« on: February 21, 2007, 03:33:19 AM »
Just got an email from AOW with a new product on the horizon:

Originated in the Berserk Comics Vol. 277, the unbelievable scene of Guts riding on Zodd is recreated by ART OF WAR.

Facing Ganishka, Guts & Zodd are ready for making a desperate attack together.

Open for order at 11:00 a.m. 24 February (Japanese time)

If this is going to be 1/10 scale, it's gonna KICK ASSSSSSSSS.  I'm pretty tired of seeing another Guts and Zodd statue, but seriously... can't complain about this!!!

UPDATE: most likely 1/15 scale, judging by the new pictures below (Guts' face is pretty small).  Also, the price is 38,000 yen, direct from AOW.  Sorry I confused people previously with Masato's quote.

This is pretty damn amazing.  I'm not a huge supporter of recasts, but I thought I'd post this up here anyways for those that don't mind.  Hobbyfan is basically a huge recast company in America that scouts all the Hobby Shows in Japan and make high quality recasts of the kits they find.  They virtually try to get all the kits they can.

Anyways, they also sometimes sell prepainted recasts (Hobbyfan has their own artists), and look at their latest release!  It's a preorder for the 1/10 Griffith on Horse.  It's a pretty sweet deal.

These recasts are MUCH MUCH better than thai recasts, so have no fear about them being brittle or rough.  I've seen Hobbyfan's work in person (their headquarters is in Emeryville, CA, 10 mins from where I live) and their painted work is very clean.

$341.... not a bad price for such a beautiful piece, even if it isn't original.

Berserk Merchandise / AOW - Armored Berserk & Fire Dragon
« on: June 16, 2006, 05:42:45 AM »
WOOooHOOO!!!  New annoucement from AOW:

"Armored Berserk & Fire Dragon will be open for order at 11:00 am (Japan time: 24 June).

Originated in the book cover of Berserk Comics Vol. 28, pose of Armored Berserk sitting on rock is succeeded in developing by ART OF WAR. Exclusive version which features complementary of Gurunberd is limited manufacture to unit of 300 only. Unit price per each is 25,000 JAPANESE YEN."

Yeah, it's ANOTHER Guts, but this one should be freaking AWESOME.  I'm excited =)

Dayaaamm, it's GORGEOUS!!!  (Pics courtesy of Masato,

I love it.  Man, with that rock there, it must be freaking TALL.  AWESOME.

So, I have this thing on my berserkstatues website that shows when people link to my website, and today I saw this:

Dunno who he/she is, but $75 is a pretty damn good price, even if it is broken.  It says he attached pictures, but I don't see them.  Anyways, just thought I'd throw it out there if anyone is looking for this piece since it's out of print.

Berserk Merchandise / Wow... check out this painted up kit on YJ
« on: March 14, 2006, 05:04:35 PM »

I have to say... that's one AWESOME finished kit.  I wonder where he got those wings from?  They look very Spawn-ish.  Anyone have any clue?  This paint up gave me an idea to do something similar when I get mine done.

Berserk Merchandise / Headlong Berserk kits on sale, good prices...
« on: December 31, 2005, 09:20:15 AM »
Hello fellow Berserk collectors,

I got an email from a collector in Italy who offered some Headlong kits to me for a good price.  However, as you all know, I have them already so I figured I'd pass along the deal to you.

He has:

1/10 Zodd: Human Form, $80
1/35 Zodd: Apostle, $80
pending payment - 1/10 Guts: Berserker, $70
pending payment - 4 Kuri Puck Set, $30 (this is an awesome deal, it comes with the flying puck, doraemon puck, sergeant puck, and yoda puck... at least that is what I assume, you might want to double check with him).

Anyhow, according to him, he bought all these kits from Masato (m-world-service), and if you are interested, PM me, and I'll give you his email address.  His name is Max.

Berserk Merchandise / Displaying Berserk Art & Merchandise
« on: October 29, 2005, 06:46:26 AM »
It's not a big deal really, but I just thought I'd share.  Maybe give other people some ideas.

I purchased this "Kalender 2005" last year and I never used it.  I liked it because it had manga art (instead of anime art) and I thought one day I would cut it up and display just the pictures, something I've done before with other calendars...  I also have the 1998 Berserk calendar released in Japan, but I didn't feel daring enough to cut that one up just quite yet :schierke:.

Anyhow, I got these two frames from Aaron Brothers ($30 total because it was actually 2 for the price of 1 so I lucked out) and then I went to an arts/crafts store called Michaels and bought some pre-cut mattes (sp?).  Anyways, mattes always seem to make a big difference when displaying something (double mattes are even better!), but I didn't want to pay $100+ to get custom matting for the frames... so pre-cuts were an easy solution.  In the end, they cost me less than $15.

So yah, here's what I came up with.  A pretty nice display set, for really little money.  At least, I think it's nice.

(sorry pictures suck)

What do ya'll think?  Has anyone done anything similar?  I know Aaz got one of his trading card pics blown up and printed it on a SUPER NICE glossy medium, and I know JIN did something similar but instead printed it on a canvas medium (both are awesome), so I'm curious to know what everyone else has!

This guy has one awesome collection, and he's selling ALL OF IT (he's even selling his display case).  I think this was a bad move on his part.  I think it's more effective to sell a few statues at a time, rather than all at once.  I have a feeling that there will be a lot of cheap end-prices for these statues.

Plus, there are 2 other guys that are selling a good amount of AOW Berserk stuff too (which usually ends up lowering the end-prices for everyone).

If any of you collectors have been saving up money to buy some rare AOW stuff, now's the chance.

Berserk Merchandise / Headlong - Locus and Mozgus kits!
« on: October 14, 2005, 07:04:30 AM »
No pictures on the site yet, but Headlong is releasing a Count, Locus, and Mozgus kit around winter time (so most likely at winter wf06).  The scale will be as small as the Zodd/Wyald scale (1/35) which is NOT BIG ENOUGH, but at least they will be all relatively in scale with each other!

Oh, BTW, all 3 kits will be in APOSTLE FORM!  :troll: :troll: :troll:

Happy news for those that wanted a Locus figure.  It's not a prepainted AOW statue of course, but it's still good news!  :guts:

Berserk Merchandise / Damn, expensive, but really cool autograph pic...

Of course, what it'd be even cooler if Miura were to sign and draw something for me personally...  :judo:

Berserk Merchandise / Some rare berserk stuff for sale
« on: September 22, 2005, 04:29:29 AM »
Well, first of all, I'm selling on behalf of a fellow collector.  He's totally trustworthy and all of his stuff is new to mint condition.  All his stuff is here in the US also, so no need to worry about overseas shipping and high delivery costs.

He has several rare stuff to sell, which I'll post later, but as of right now, he has an Exclusive II Grunbeld statue.  It's limited to 100 pieces, and it comes with the green demon soldier.  Here are pics of it from my site (though you probably already know what it looks like):

If you are interested in this piece, please PM me, and I'll give you a price quote.

Also, he has tons of Berserk trading cards for sale, all singles, from Volumes 1-5.  If you have a specific request for a certain card, PM me a list and I'll see if he has it.

Keep checking back at this thread, because they'll be more stuff for sale.

Berserk Merchandise / AOW: Another Puck (Wood)
« on: August 12, 2005, 04:52:28 AM »
We all love Puck (well at least I think we do), but ANOTHER ONE???

Anyways, AOW just opened up a new item for pre-order on their site:

It's the same pose as the first Puck they released several years ago.  This one is limited to 300 pieces and costs 6,000 yen.

Hi ya'll,

So a friend of mine is working on his Casca kit right now, and it's turning out AWESOME.  You all have to check it out.  You can see his step by step process here:

He did MANY subtle modifications to the kit which made ALL the difference.  When you get to the picture where it shows her new hair-cut and painted eyes, you'll know what I mean.

Simply the most accurate looking Casca figure made, in my opinion.

Berserk Merchandise / Opinions for my next kit... any suggestions?
« on: July 13, 2005, 01:37:24 AM »
Helloooo all,

So it's gonna be a while from now, but John (my painter), will be working on the following kits next.  Of course, I'm really excited about them, but I'm trying to think of a cool way to display them... like... what kind of bases should they have, or what other various mods could be added?  Any suggestions?  It doesn't HAVE to be anything super fancy, but I want to do something that's a little more exciting than just putting both busts on a plain wooden base and that's it...

Here are the kits:

I really like this kit, and it's a decent size too.  I mean, it's not LIFESIZE of course, not even close, but it's a bigger than the AOW busts and it definitely is big enough where John can add a lot of detail to the skin, scrapes, eyes, etc etc.  I'm just trying to think of what kind of base should rest under him.

SK Bust

manga pic:

I will probably want John to make some sort of crown of thorns and rose, as pictured above, but I'm trying to think of what else to do to it (or to the base).  The original sculptor displayed his like this:

It's definitely cool, but I think it'll be nicer if I actually the rose on his crown like it's supposed to be...

Any thoughts??

Berserk Merchandise / Selling some Berserk stuff...
« on: July 07, 2005, 07:51:26 AM »

I'm clearing out some stuff, trying to get some money, so I figure I might as well see if any of you are interested.  Please help me out =).

Puck Beherit Exclusive Set (300 made) **EDIT: SOLD**
- $65
Adorable set, completely sold out, Japan release only.  I have two, so might as well get rid of the double...

Griffith on Horse Kit, THAI RECAST, unassembled and unpainted **EDIT: SOLD**
- $40
So I originally got this kit a few years ago because I thought I'd never be able to get an original.  But now, as most of you know, I do have an original, so it's time to get rid of this recast.  You can find this kit on ebay all the time, for around $45-$50, but shipping costs from Thailand usually range at $40 and over, which is what I had to pay for it.
NOTE: when I received this kit, there were a few cracks on some parts of the resin (the most notable one is on the horses' mantle.  All of the damages are fixable with putty.
(picture from an ebay auction)

Puck: Doraemon Kit, Original **EDIT: SOLD**
- $35 (or both Pucks for $60)
Bonus item included in the first few batches of the Berserker Headlong kit.  VERY rare.  Requires painting and assembly.

Puck: Sergeant Kit, Original **EDIT: SOLD**
- $35 (or both Pucks for $60)
Bonus item included in the first few batches of the Skullknight Headlong kit.  VERY rare.  Requires painting and assembly.

Action Figures...
All of these are the 1/10 action figures (the big ones).  Some of them are still sealed, others have been displayed... NONE have been played with (although I can sometimes act like I kid, I promise I've never played war with them or anything!)

Guts: Black Swordsman (displayed) **EDIT: SOLD**
- $15
(diorama not included, comes with cape though)

Guts: Hawk Soldier, red cape (displayed) **EDIT: SOLD**
- $15
(diorama not included)

Griffith: Hawk Soldier (displayed)
- $15
Casca: Hawk Soldier (displayed)
- $15
(blood splatter not included)

Femto (sealed) **EDIT: SOLD**
- $30

Skullknight (sealed) **EDIT: SOLD**
- $30

Isidro (displayed) **EDIT: SOLD**
- $5
(Schierke not included)

Femto: Exclusive edition, 300 made, BLACK in color **EDIT: SOLD**
- not sure of price or whether or not I want to sell, but if you're interested PM me with a price...
I bought this for the Beherit Apostle, and opened it only for that.  I've never removed Femto from the packaging.  This figure usually sells around 10,000 yen ($100) on Japanese Auctions, but of course, the one I'm selling is not sealed, nor will I include the Beherit apostle figure...

On all prices, I'm willing to negotiate if you REALLY want to =P.  Also, if someone out there wants to buy all the action figures, and save me the trouble of having to pack multiple boxes, I'll definitely give you a discount.

Hope to hear from some of you soon!
