Hahahahah!  AWESOME pics Akebobo!  Thanks for taking it side by side for us.  It's a beautiful pair.  Crazy price, but I think I'm going to have to add it to my collection.  Just waiting on bone or silver~

This is just going off google translate, but the berserk_anime twitter just tweeted 2 new things:

It seems that on 3/26 we should expect new footage!  It'll show at the NBC Universal booth at Anime Japan 2016.

Hey guys, I received my replacement statue and am glad it's fully intact and not broken.

Before I even talk about any other aspects of the product, I'm wondering with those that do have it (DirectDK, RickP), are your bases curved like mine:

See imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/pJtPf

Hey Super.  Glad to hear you got your replacement and that all is in good shape.  Must have been a nightmare being in limbo for so long.  As for the curved base, unfortunately, I packed mine back up already and put it in storage.  My current apartment just doesn't have enough display space for all the collectibles I own, let alone a giant one like this one.  Hopefully someone else can check theirs for you.

However, I don't see that as being a problem in the long run.  If anything, it may warp back to it being flat.  I don't think it'll crack if that's what you are worried about.

Hope everyone else gets their replacement soon too ~~

Duuuuuuude!!! :isidro:
That's TOO cool, where'd you get it? It's awesome.

Hahaha! Glad you like it!  I won it on YJA a while back from Summer WF2015, but didn't receive it til this week.  The maker is: http://www.velocitron.org/

They've also released Guts/Casca's demon baby.  Both are prepainted, and vinyl.

Damn... So sorry to hear sensui and Super. =(  I felt like their packaging was pretty good, but clearly it's not if there are 2 cases on here that are all messed up.  They REALLY should replace them for you.  Please keep us posted.

Also, Gecco posted pictures of some paintups. Really good stuff, I'm digging the skin on Zodd and the striping effect on the Berserker Armor.

Here's mine.  Uploaded some quick pics from my phone: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ygmccuvqmypkmzx/AABKpzO7U1ePtjtNeW-Grwj0a?dl=0

Packaging: Excellent packaging!!! The box is nice, and as seen in the pics, there is a belt around the styrofoam container so it's very easy to remove the box from the outer box.  Also, the statue comes in separate pieces, and from the way everything was padded, it seems like everything is pretty safe.  Plus it being a big scale, nothing seems super fragile.
*UPDATE: I guess I was a lucky one.  3 people here (and counting) received broken statues so maybe the packaging isn't as safe as I thought!

Assembly: Comes in 4 parts: base + lower body, upper body, right arm + sword, left arm.  All parts snap in very smoothly and tight, along with very strong magnets inside.  It was a breeze putting it together.  Great job.

Sculpt: Well, I am sorry to say that the face isn't as good as it can be.  In terms of likeness, it's no better than AOW's faces, and we have established already that AOW's faces are the part that needs the most improvement.  However, at least the face isn't ugly like some of AOW's.  It's just really the likeness that is lacking.  Everything else about the sculpt is great.  Love the pose, love the size, etc.

Paint: I can definitely say that AOW's paint jobs are much better than this one, though it can be seen more like a preference thing.  This paint job is super clean.  It's more in line with standard anime statues out there.  Clean lines, minimal weathering, etc.  If you look at his cape, it's super smooth with no detailing.  Just one solid color.  The blood work and the sword are pretty plain.  Nothing really stands out.  I tend to like really weathered, more realistic paint jobs (which AOW does quite well for prepainted statues) so I think if someone were to repaint this bad boy it could be amazing.  With such a big scale, there can be so much more detail.

So overall, I have mixed feelings.  It's an expensive piece, comparable to AOW in terms of pricing, but it lacks the AOW artisan skill.  The face isn't offensive though, and the pose is more exciting than AOW's standard stuff.  Overall, I'm glad to have this in my collection but it's not a show stopper.

What I'm really looking forward to is Max Factory's Femto.  That one is sure to be amazing.

Nice! Thanks for sharing!  Your paint skills have definitely improved!  Is that the Zodd Senma head?  How'd you come about one of those?

totally forgot this one is releasing this month i guess there is little interest for it (maybe due to price?)... just got charged for the statue anybody else?

Same here.  I saw the fully painted prototype at New York Comic Con last year.  If it's anything like that, it's gonna be epic as hell.

Price wise, it's pretty on par with AOW, but this statue is much bigger.  I'm more excited for the Femto one though.  I emailed them about it a month ago because preorders haven't gone up yet and they replied "Sorry we have no information for you at this time" lol.

I wouldn't put much thought on the sound effects or the music they used in the teaser.  Many times teasers/trailers are done before assets like that have been created or finalized.  Typically just placeholder stuff.

Anyways, my friend sent me this today.  Kinda cool that Berserk is getting some promotion from Stan Lee (though very likely it is his "team" that posted this).

And his official blog: http://therealstanlee.com/Guts-Is-Coming-Back-In-2016

I would really like to see more people exposed to Berserk.  Hopefully, this 2016 anime encourages more people to check it out and read the manga!

On a side note, this past weekend, my coworker and his fiance saw the first Berserk movie show up on their Netflix, and without knowing what it was, watched it, then immediately watched movies 2 and 3, and now my coworker is watching the 97 anime, while his fiance is reading the manga!  So even if this anime tanks (which I hope it doesn't, I'm actually super stoked for it as some of you probably know), some good can come out of it regardless!

Well, I am excited!!!  The only bad news about this is the manga hiatus.  I know the general consensus here is death to Studio 4C, but who knows, maybe this time they will stay truer to the source material for the Lost Children arc, especially if it's a longer format (crossing fingers for OVA).  It's been many years since the trilogy, so the team, animation style, and director might very well be different.  So as of right now, I'm excited to see what's to unfold in the next few weeks.

This brings me back to the excitement the first time around when the Anime Saga was announced.  It was around the holidays as well.  GOOD TIMES!

And finally, if all goes well, this means we might get a new Berserk Hirasawa song down the line.  JUST SAYING!  :ubik:

I'm late to the party, but I got mine a few weeks ago and displayed it instantly.  It's absolutely gorgeous and exceeded my expectations.  The stock photos don't do this statue justice.  Easily one of my favorite Berserk purchases in years.  GOOD JOB HEADLONG AND GECCO! :ubik: :ubik: :ubik:

Tough call.  I like how big the statue is (I would love to see how it looks next to the 20th anniversary Guts), I'd prefer a different color scheme.  It's too bad they also used the same pose as before, but the size difference is pretty astronomical.  On the fence here...

Berserk Merchandise / Re: mildew stains
« on: September 16, 2015, 02:16:29 PM »
hi i need advise if there is a way to clean mildew stains, i had an unpleasant surprise when i saw  those stains on some of my statues , i cleaned most of them with just a damp cloth , but to of my figures are still stained, is there a better way to clean those mildew stains?

Hi Hubalo.  So sorry to hear about your statues. =(  How were these statues stored when you discovered the stains?  Were they in the boxes, in a glass case, or out in the open?  I remember back in the day I received some AOW statues and when I opened it it was wet / damp inside.  So I had to make sure to air them out before storage.  I sent a complaint to AOW about it way back when...  This was around 7 years ago or so~

Threezero's facebook just posted this:

It's beautiful.  I love the Medicom RAH figures also, but Medicom definitely went for the more anime / trilogy look.  This Red MARK design is more like the manga, so it's refreshing in its own way.  And, it's rare to find a good manga Guts face, so I have to say I'm really interested in this piece and whatever else Red MARK has to offer!!!

And with the Threezero figures coming out soon... tons of 1/6 figures to choose from nowadays!

Annnnnnd here it is!

http://www.mamegyorai.co.jp/net/main/item_detail/item_detail.aspx?item=405478

My initial impressions...

1) MANNNN the same ol' pose again!!!  C'mon give me something new!!!
2) Some of the angles it looks great (like the profile view), but some of the front angles I feel like the face is a bit too wide.  I think I may actually prefer the alternate face.  But hard to tell with the pictures they gave us.
3) I think my favorite thing about this piece is the pouch with Puck!  Hahaha!

Other details is it's PVC, roughly 35,800 - 39,800 yen, 1/6 scale (38 cm), and due in September 2015.

Overall, I think Headlong could definitely have done better... But I think I'll be getting one still.  That's just me, though...

PS One thing to note.  That MGS statue posted up above is also 1/6 (32 cm) and retailed for 20,400 yen.  This Guts figure is almost twice the price...  Berserk inflation again???

Thinkgeek will likely be carrying it, and they frequently publish discount codes for 30% off orders over $150 and up.  Up to 40% on occasion.  No preorder guarantee though.

Next time I see a 40 I'll finally spring for the Golden Age RAH http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/189a/

I love ThinkGeek, and I use that 30% coupon on A TON of stuff from them (namely Game of Thrones stuff, haha), but I have a friend who works there and he said they won't be carrying the Black Swordsman one because the Golden Age RAH sold very poorly for them =(.
