Threezero's facebook just posted this:

It's beautiful.  I love the Medicom RAH figures also, but Medicom definitely went for the more anime / trilogy look.  This Red MARK design is more like the manga, so it's refreshing in its own way.  And, it's rare to find a good manga Guts face, so I have to say I'm really interested in this piece and whatever else Red MARK has to offer!!!

And with the Threezero figures coming out soon... tons of 1/6 figures to choose from nowadays!

Annnnnnd here it is!

http://www.mamegyorai.co.jp/net/main/item_detail/item_detail.aspx?item=405478

My initial impressions...

1) MANNNN the same ol' pose again!!!  C'mon give me something new!!!
2) Some of the angles it looks great (like the profile view), but some of the front angles I feel like the face is a bit too wide.  I think I may actually prefer the alternate face.  But hard to tell with the pictures they gave us.
3) I think my favorite thing about this piece is the pouch with Puck!  Hahaha!

Other details is it's PVC, roughly 35,800 - 39,800 yen, 1/6 scale (38 cm), and due in September 2015.

Overall, I think Headlong could definitely have done better... But I think I'll be getting one still.  That's just me, though...

PS One thing to note.  That MGS statue posted up above is also 1/6 (32 cm) and retailed for 20,400 yen.  This Guts figure is almost twice the price...  Berserk inflation again???

Thinkgeek will likely be carrying it, and they frequently publish discount codes for 30% off orders over $150 and up.  Up to 40% on occasion.  No preorder guarantee though.

Next time I see a 40 I'll finally spring for the Golden Age RAH http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/189a/

I love ThinkGeek, and I use that 30% coupon on A TON of stuff from them (namely Game of Thrones stuff, haha), but I have a friend who works there and he said they won't be carrying the Black Swordsman one because the Golden Age RAH sold very poorly for them =(.

What's a good retailer to pre order this from

I've also noticed that Medicom sells their RAH on amazon.com for pretty cheap if the figure doesn't sell out.  For example their first Guts RAH is still available on amazon for quite cheap (cheaper than for what I paid for initially) with prime shipping too.  So you could take your chances if you don't want to order through any of the Japanese sites.

Just that face....hrmmm. It's not the 'helmet' portion. Its definitely the inner face that's a bit off.

I agree.  I gave it a A++++ before the 2nd picture was added.  I have to say the inner face (the eyes) are a tad awkward.  I need to see more pics to really say for sure!  Either way, I'm still very excited for this piece.

Wow, I have to say the price is more than I thought.  I remember asking the booth when I saw them at SDCC and NYCC and they projected around $800.  But I guess those staff members working the cons don't really make the calls, now do they, lol.  Anyhow, still... a part of me feels like they priced it so high because AOW prices their statues so high, and then based their range on that thinking Berserk fans are used to seeing such high price tags.  I mean, the statue is 1/6 and monstrous but the positioning of the sword has a lot to do with the height.  So even though the statue is pretty awesome, I think it's overpriced.

Now for the FEMTO... THAT one has got me excited!

I was just about to post this!  THIS IS AMAZING NEWS.  Threezero is one of the best!!!  THE BEST!  And their prices are very reasonable.  Their Game of Thrones Tyrion was only $130, and their Ned was $160.  I have their Tyrion figure, and look at the likeness of this bad boy:

Also, here are more pictures of that Tyrion figure: http://thetoychronicle.com/news/demand-trial-by-combat-with-threezeros-tyrion-lannister/

WOW, Takeya sculpted that Colossal Titan statue?!?!  It would be an absolute dream come true if Takeya sculpted for Berserk.  Makes me wonder who is sculpting these Guts & Femto statues at Max Factory.  Takeya is a legend!!!

And though the price for the Titan may be up there, it's still cheaper than AOW.  Good to hear it has a higher chance of being polystone since this Titan one is.  Although, looking at their "Wonderful Hobby Selection" which is what I assume the Berserk figures will be labeled as, the other figure listed, the "Yamato: Heavy Armament Ver." is a PVC figure.  So I guess it's still up for debate!

Welcome to the boards, GORPAUL87!!!  Great kit!  I LOVE the fact that you installed the lighting system for the eyes!!!  Man, when I get mine done, it's a necessity now!  Can't have it any other way after yours and Joa's!

Japanese member, uraken, asked me to post pictures of his collection on his behalf.  His English isn't very good, but he would like to share with you his Berserk display.  He has some pretty cool painted kits.  I see a 1/7 Griffith Dotou no Tono kit, the Getsurou Irvine, and a finished 1/10 Griffith on Horse!  Nice!

Thanks for posting this Sankari!  First impression is that the pose is really superhero-esque, but I don't mind it.  I like the fact that it's dynamic and unique to the Guts statues we've seen before.  I'm diggin the details on the base too.  The face is okay, but still better than AOW!  Any comment on the scale, Sankari?

Maybe its not even worth the effort, but I was thinking of sending AoW an email , expressing ( with all due respect) my opinion about this piece and their current practices.

Maybe if everyone did that. Their items are so limited , that if a reasonable number of people said something, they might notice that they're failing hard and change course.

We've done that before, lots of us sending them a whole barrage of emails, but it doesn't seem to have helped any.  I still encourage you to write them though, because perhaps they THINK they've improved somehow... some way...  and they need another reality check.

Special Discount:

1,000 JPY Off for Pre-orders and The First Payment Before May 31st!

HAHAHAHAH, yeah that was pretty funny.

BTW, about the likeness... they are really just being lazy.  That or they are completely incompetent without enlisting outside help.  For their Gantz line, their Katou statue had the most horrible face ever.  No likeness whatsoever.  And that statue bombed completely.  3-4 years later they still have statues in stock.  Then their next one, their Kurono statue, they enlisted the help of the manga author and the face actually looks respectable.  Doesn't seem like they'll be able to enlist Miura for his help, but my god, how hard is it for a professional sculptor to study a face and tweak it as much as possible to match?  Pathetic.

PS I have actually emailed them before that I know sculptors that could help aid them in improving the likeness of their faces... I don't quite remember their response (I'll have to look it up), but they weren't interested.

123
I'm still holding out to see more detailed shots, but I agree with most of the sentiments here, that this piece didn't turn out as well as we had hoped.  The face, from what it seems, only looks like a SLIGHT improvement from the previous 1/6 Guts, but it's not nearly good enough.  AOW just doesn't get it.  LIKENESS LIKENESS LIKENESS.  It shouldn't be that much to ask...

As for the pose, I like the idea of it, but the execution looks a little off from certain angles.  Again, I'll wait to see more pics...

Overall... all I have to say is... le sigh~~~

krzykoop/directdk, thanks for sharing.  It looks like it came out very well.  None of you got the exclusive?  Didn't see the Berserk wolf.   :guts:

Hahaha, yeah I got the exclusive.  Here are pictures of it:

The wolf is super tiny.  I can post a few comparison shots of it next to older AOW statues.  It looks like a puppy next to most of the 1/10 AOW statues.  And as you can see by the texture of my desk, the wolf is super small.

As for Guts, he is smaller than you guys might expect.  I would say he's 1/8 scale.  The base is pretty much half the height.  The statue looks FANTASTIC from the side.  But I'm not crazy about the front view.  The base just looks a bit too random/bulky from the front cuz you have no context of what Guts is standing on.  But 45 degrees / profile shot, it looks stellar.  Maybe one day, I'll have it customized and have him rotated so the pirate face is also showing forward (although it'll make it difficult since Guts's hand won't have anything to rest on.

The paint job is as good as all the recent Berserker statues.  The cape is awesome.  The eyes are painted a much brighter / solid red than before, so it pops.

Overall, I think the statue is good, but I'm still not entirely thrilled about the base.  Also, it's needlessly tall so it can't fit in most display cases (which is always troublesome).
