Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: Psychotic
« on: August 30, 2012, 07:08:34 AM »
I'm not sure exactly how to interpret this. I have always had respect for whatever opinion or criticism I have heard on these forums.  So I suppose I want to reform my question.

I guess I can first explain that "sickening" was my immediate reaction to the description only. My reaction to the book (having only read it once over a 6 hour period, late at night after finding it in my email) was one of sympathy toward the author. Again, I'm not sure I know exactly how to feel. There definitely (?) aren't any legitimate "prophecies" here. But I am most concerned with the conclusions I can draw about the author of this text.

I have never been a committed religious person. I have gravitated more toward reason and realism, though I probably shouldn't use such specific terms to identify with; they may be associated with a specific sect of religion, haha.

If nothing else, I would like to know why no one was interested in the book. Anything at all. After reading the preview, was the topic just outdated or overly anti religious? Does it seem to be nothing but a memoir full of angst? If you were compelled to  buy the full version, was it too scattered in its message?

Someone very close to me (who I haven't seen in a few years) published this book through Amazon.  I recall reading some interesting debates about religion on these forums, and I thought maybe some of you would have a reason to read it.  That isn't to say I recommend it, but I would be obliged to hear any opinions at all, considering I have not been able to formulate one myself.  It is definitely sickening.

Video Games / Re: What Are You Playing?

I'm also playing Red Dead Redemption.  It is entertaining so far, but it plays too much like an old GTA game, which makes me figure I'll tire of it before long.  Rockstar games get great reviews, but I'm not impressed with their repetitive format.

No not those.  This was an official AOW job...  I figured you were looking for the V3 because you mentioned such a high price, and these statues are rare.  You see the statues weighed about a kilo and were imported from Colombia.  AOW made sure the material was 100% pure grade A Colombian rock, my mang.  They only produced 700 and the retail price was 5k (mad cheap).  The thing is, they sold quickly and due to the destructive nature of the consumers, it is rumored that there may be none left.

It was released a year or so after the original. It was insanely popular, especially among people in underdeveloped areas who don't know what Berserk is.

I think you're looking for the V3 crack rock edition that came out.

Prof Aaz is such a hardass!  His test was impossible, and he didn't even tell us it was coming so we couldn't study!  I should have stayed awake during his lecture-posts... :azan:

That just makes my point.  What nerve.  The quality of their releases isn't worth a dollar more, and then they decide to "experiment" only to say "Duhh, never mind, bad idea" on the first volume with the new price.  What incompetent shitwits.  Way to justify the raise in price.

I can't believe they raised the price.  What nerve.

They look boss. :griffnotevil:

If this is a new animation it looks like shit.   Wow, I'm so excited.

Created by Kentarou Miura, Berserk is a neck wringing manga rape debacle that has a shlew of devotees ready to suck its cock on a dime.  A butcher's knife wielding tornado, it takes no prisoners.   Make way, puny do-gooders, this one goes for the jugular, and it ain't jokin'!

I never thought police brutality could be this funny.

Don't knock it till you rock it... Really, I was sceptical at first, since I hated Encore and thought little of The Eminem Show, but this is much better. There are some great tracks.

and so far it just seems like more of the same from him after his fake retirement

Yeah, you're right, considering the theme of Encore... What a joke that album was...  I would assume, though, that he did plan to retire.
He spent the last few years being all kinds of messed up, which gives this album a fresh vibe.

Other than that, I imagine the album will be rounded out with more songs about his mother, ex-wife and girlfriends, Proof's death, real and imagined feuds, absurd humor tracks, and one about how he really loves his daughter. So, in a sense, I've already heard it too.

There is talk about his mom, his ex-wife isn't mentioned, Proof isn't mentioned (except on line, where he blames his drug addiction on his death, only to say it's just an excuse, if I remember correctly. I thought that would be the focus of the album), very little humor and not much about his daughter.

I'm jammin' to it. :badbone:

Anyone else looking forward to Eminem's Relapse?  I'll be buying it May 19th. Of course I already heard the whole thing. :void:  I like it, more "Slim Shady" style. Rolling Stone gave it a 4/5.

That is very cool.

Ha, Grove will be getting all kinds of angry calls from the school about her daughter's new vocab.

Rhombaad, how dare you corrupt the mind of a child.  You should be ashamed.
