Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: How did you find out Berserk?
« on: April 30, 2014, 02:34:02 PM »
Welcome to the forum and great question!
I was first introduced to Berserk through my boyfriend back in high school (we are still together), and he sat me down and made me watch the anime after countless weeks trying to convince me. I simply didn't want to get into it, because the surface appeal of Berserk just didn't resonate well with me. (Oh, a big tough guy with a ginormous sword, how typical.)

Little did I know, that Berserk would soon become a huge part of my life, and my all time favourite story.  :guts:

Apologies if I stirred up the wrong kind of news, I just felt it appropriate to post  'findings' so we could sort it out just like this. I had a strong feeling it was fake the moment I saw it, but I had to make sure.
I have no idea how to find out its legitimacy myself, so I handed i over to the professionals.

Thank you for clearing it up!  :guts:

I figured nothing was going to come out of it to begin with, I just wanted the forums opinion on it to find out what it was about.

As I said, don't mind me! Continue the discussion!  :casca:

Don't mind me -- I just wanted to post something that I found on Tumblr.

I don't know what to think of it, or if it's in any way reliable -- I just found it 5 minuets ago.
Any thoughts on this? I just figured I would bring everyone's attention to it.

Thank you! I would love to do a picture of the God Hand!  :ubik:
However, University first!  :void:

And yes, I am a big Hellraiser fan. I actually watched Hellraiser before I was introduced to Berserk, and as soon as I saw the God Hand (specifically Void) I instantly knew it was a reference to Hellraiser! I must say, that it made my day.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments! I'm glad you like it!
I had a lot of fun working on it, but painting armor truly is a big pain in the ass, if I do say so myself.
I also forgot to post the companion piece to it!

I hope you all don't mind if I share some of my non-Berserk related pieces. (There are a number of photos in this post)
I started out specializing in Pencil:

And recently I mainly specialize working with an Airbrush on T-Shirts:

And as you have seen, I do a lot of Acrylic Paintings as well.

And here is my most recent painting of the Joker.

Let me know what you think!

Very nice work! I especially love your use of layering colours in the flesh tones. Your style would lend itself wonderfully to Oil painting!
And I agree with you on the eyes. They're my favourite part of the painting to work on!

Here's a new Berserk painting that I finished up last week!

(And yes, I did just figure out how to add images onto here.  :guts:
You can view it at my deviantART page here:
This is acrylic on 12"x16" canvas.

I would love to!

Scratch board is honestly a very simple process.
The sheet itself is coated with black ink, which is then removed using a scratching tool. They come in many different variates, some removing large areas, and others that are no thicker than a needle.

I usually start with a primary drawing (such as artwork from Berserk, or another reference) and I draw an outline of it on the sheet of scratch board.
I do this by taking a sheet of paper placing it on top of the scratch board, and begin drawing on it with a ballpoint pen so that the sheet has the indent of the image.

Then I begin! Scratch boards usually take me no longer than 3-4 hours, but it depends on the complexity of the image.
I find it very relaxing, and a great way to spend my time if I don't want to pull out my paints.

Speaking of paints, however, I will have a new Berserk painting coming up soon, so keep a sharp eye out for that!
I hope this answers your question! If you have anymore, please let me know!

Both are scratch boards (like the first piece of Artwork I posted on here)

I agree, I'm interested to hear those views. I'm actually somewhat envious of those who classify the film as excellent and can't see or don't care about the flaws.
I am one of the two people who voted excellent, however in saying that; I am completely aware of all of the flaws that this movie has, both technically and accuracy wise. I am just as disappointed with the cuts and minor changes that they made, (especially the Bonfire of Dreams scene) however I watched this film for what it was and I loved every second of it.
Yes, the CGI and animation were weak at times, but rarely did it distract me from the story; and the same goes for the cuts made. Yes, they changed a few things, but I believe that those changes add to the cinematic quality of the film. No, its not EXACTLY like the manga, but this is not a manga; this is a movie adaption, and so changes to the fight sequences and the removal of certain scenes did not take away from the film as a whole, nor did it dampen the impact of the story line within this particular segment of the arc.
I loved the scale of this film much better than the first, (though this particular portion of this Arc is generally a lot more interesting than the first third) and I loved the cinematic direction that the film took; it looked much better than the first film by far.
My favorite thing about this film though (and this goes for the first movie as well) is how they portray and animate the characters emotion. The body language and facial expressions that's animated is truly something else. The smallest gesture of the hand, the subtle changes in expression and posture, each characters fighting style; its remarkable how accurately they captured the emotion and action from the manga to the film. (Even if the CG models are a bit flat as far as expression goes) the hand drawn characters are beautifully done.(And to add to that, the music in this film was also MUCH better. I've lost count of how many times that I've listened to the soundtrack on its own; but while watching the movie it was like I was hearing all of the songs again for the first time.)
I admit there are flaws in this movie, both on its own and especially when compared to the manga; however all in all I really did enjoy it for what it was. I thought that it was very well put together, and that its not impossible to overlook the flaws in this film when compared to the manga. I took it for what it was, and I really did love it.  :guts:

Long time no see! I'm still hanging around keeping up to date with all of the Berserk news.
I recently finished an airbrushed T-Shirt of Guts for my boyfriend, you can see it here:
It's a bit of a bad picture as it was thrown over the back of my chair, and I never got a better photo of it after I sent it off. But you get the idea.

Let me know what you think!

Buying / Selling / Re: Sell Berserk statues
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:12:15 PM »
Greetings! I am very interested in your Armored Berserk Bust Up Statue: Wolf - AOW item number 127
I would very much like to purchase it as a birthday present for my Boyfriend who I know would simply love this.
However, currently I do not have the money, but I will get most of it within this month (May) as I am making Custom Airbrushed T-Shirts for Commission and a lot of people have already said they will buy one off of me.
Is it possible for you to put this item on hold for me? I will pay full price of the item (82.00 CAN) plus any shipping and handling fees as soon as I can -- I will let you know ASAP.

Thank you!

Berserk Merchandise / Re: Displaying Berserk Art & Merchandise

I have yet to pick up any of the more expensive statues, since I don't currently have too much room for them, but this is my current set up.

Wow, all of these collections are amazing! I don't have anything Berserk related other than my painting and a hand-made Beherit out of clay that I made in half an hour.
Does anyone happen to have a clearer image of that picture of Guts on the bottom left corner? I've never seen it before, and it looks really intriguing. (Intriguing enough to paint, methinks)

I changed the name, just for continuity's sake, but I'll still pronounce it G a t s u...that's just how I'm used to it.
And I merely painted it how I saw it:

I said in a comment below that I refered to him as G a t s u simply because that's how my boyfriend always pronounces it, and it's stuck with me since. However, if it truly bothers people THAT much I will be more than happy to change it to Guts.

Well surprisingly I found the time to paint it today! Who knows, I might get two done this week, we shall see!
Here it is:
I hope I didn't disappoint!
Also, if there's a specific image of Guts that you would like to see painted (preferably colour/one that isn't a black and white illustration) please do share it with me! I'm having one hell of a time narrowing down my favourite images of him, so I'd like to see which ones you guys like as well, that might help me out a bit.

Thank you all for your kind comments! I'm glad that you like it! As I said, it's really not all that much, and I hope to continue making more Berserk fan-art soon.
I'm going to get my painting started within the next few days here, but I'm having one hell of a time trying to pin down just ONE image of Guts that I want to paint. There are so many pictures of him that I love, it's difficult to select just one picture to paint first.
However, once I start it, I will be sure (if I remember) to update you with a WIP. I do have a few WIP's over at my deviantART page, (specifically this one with an airbrush t-shirt that I made: ) so you can check them out if you're interested in my process -- and to hold you over for a few days till I get started.
Thanks again for commenting! I can't wait to start it!

Greetings! I haven't posted that much, and what I am about to post won't amount to much either, but it is still a submission none the less!
Artwork is my passion, and naturally as soon as I read the manga I was heavily inspired to make a scratchboard of Guts.
Scratchboard lends itself wonderfully to Muria's style, and so the result was better than I anticipated. I made this as a gift for my boyfriend (the one who got me into Berserk in the first place)
I can't seem to post the image directly in this post, so here's a link to it at my deviantART page:
It's not that much, but it's better than nothing!
I hope to make a painting of Guts sometime this week, so I hope to update you with my artwork as it continues.

Greetings, fellow Berserk fans!
My name is Jackolyn, I'm from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and my boyfriend was the one who introduced me to Berserk about a year ago now.
Personally, I think he's spoiled me, as Berserk was my first manga (and the 90's anime was my first as well) and everything I have tried to read or watch since has got nothing on Berserk.
My favourite character is Guts and every time I re-read he gets more and more bad ass.
My favourite arc should come as no surprise, it's the Golden Age arc, and Eclipse. The Black Swordsman arc is also pretty damn epic, but nothing (in my opinion) can top the first major story.

I'm not sure how often I'll be posting, if anything I may just be lurking around in the background reading up on the latest news and discussions; but I am studying Fine Arts in University and so (if I ever find the time to do personal artwork again) I will be sure to post some Berserk fan-art whenever I can get around to making some.
If you would like to view my deviantART page you can find it here:
I must say, I am simply thrilled to have found an active Berserk community online, and I look forward to meeting you all!  :guts:
