Anime Asylum / Re: 2016 Berserk TV series: Episode 4
« on: July 22, 2016, 07:52:21 PM »
Wow, this episode totally redeemed last. I was so happy to see  :beast: make an appearance. Plus all of the panel-by-panel shots were awesome. This episode has proven to me they are stepping in the right direction and following the story somewhat close to the original  :ubik:

My worst fear has come to bear fruit. They made :casca: sound like a retard.
Isn't she supposed to sound like that? I mean yeah, her voice did sound a little young. But keep in mind this is a Japanese anime. Be prepared for the voices of a female to stab your ear drums, especially someone who has the mentality of a vegetable.

It would have been better if they just played the credits during that scene instead of during the first brief encounter Guts and Serpico.

You can see where they were struggling to keep all this information crammed in a single 20min episode. The credits rolling over that whole scene with Guts and Serpico? Very distracting, though the scene in general was close to a panel-by-panel shot from the manga, which is nice I guess.

One of the few redeeming feature I saw in this episode was at the very end with King's death and their introduction to the Kushan invasion. But holy crap it was so fast paced. This show is definitely not for people new to the series.

My two main concerns for the next episode is if we will get to see Zodd's vision of the White Hawk, and if we will be introduced to the Beast of Darkness when Guts is resting in the cave by Godo's. I don't have any high hopes, but I'm crossing my fingers .

The horse rape scene was laughable. The animation was so scattered and complete garbage. I'm starting to think i prefer the half CGI half drawn technique more. Where did they find these animators? In a kindergarten class? :mozgus:

I'd give this episode a neutral grade; not too bad, but also not too good. Couldn't help but notice straight from the start of the episode that Casca decided to go full Michael Jackson on us :???:. Not sure what the whole idea was on the color director for okaying that...

Otherwise I'd say this episode really brought great details straight from the manga. Was not expecting as much focus on Azan at all. Thought they'd go with the whole 'Blah blah blah, we're here to capture you because you're evil blah blah blah. Only focused on Farnese' route. I was pleasantly surprised with how much more they added to the Holy Iron Chain Knights conflict with Guts.

Also I really wish they would change those Dragon Slayer 'pots and pans' sound effects they are using. When Guts swings his massive sword with all his muscles tensing and his clenching teeth, I'd expect more of a satisfying deep and heavy rumble from the swing and a bone crunching splatter sound on impact, not TWANG PING TWANG.

Team Schnoz all the way!!  :schnoz:

Speculation Nation / Re: How do you think Berserk will end?
« on: July 08, 2016, 02:22:38 AM »
I wish some of these speculations came true... but most of these are too cheesy and way too predictable. There are just too many unexplained things to unravel some sort of true ending for the series. All I want is some point in the series is for Femto to get cannonballed in the face by Guts  :guts:

Also I would want at least Zodd the Immortal to die some point in the series. But on that whole topic of him being "immortal," I feel sorry for the poor bastard who would try to bring him down  Don't really know what that would bring to the table story wise, but just imagining what Zodd's dying words would be, peak my interest. Also to see his true body when he dies would be cool, like Wyald.

Well, that's some reassurance  :ganishka:

This didn't make much sense. This game looks like it'll be pretty different from the PS2 game aside from, you know, being a Berserk game. Also, you just said that something is "most likely" and then that it's "probably not going to happen" in the same sentence.

All I'm saying is I'm bummed they aren't making any further progress in the story and they're stopping around the same point as the PS2 game did.  It's cool they're adding previous arcs into the game, but to stop at the Millennium Arc again? It's disappointing to me.

Still gonna buy it and play the crap out of it either way.

This game is looking like its turning into an upgraded replica of the Japanese PS2 Berserk game. The game ended right after obtaining the Berserk armor and fighting Grunbeld and Zodd. Most likely we will be forced to buy some sort of season pass for new areas months after the initial release, but that's probably not going to happen. Most Musou games I've seen are what you get.

Speculation Nation / Just out of curiosity...

Do we have any speculations or answers as to why the Skull Knight decided to come to Guts to warn him of the Eclipse event in volume 9? And why he cares about Guts' survival? I know this most likely all falls in the rules of causality in this universe, but I can't help think what the Skull Knight truly intends (if that is the correct word) for Guts. It can be confusing at times for me to think about the whole causality thing and the meaning of freewill in this series. I've read the series before (in the middle of reading it thoroughly again), and I recently came across this meeting between the two, but I don't recall there being a reason for the Skull Knight to show himself to Guts to explain a thing Zodd had already told him.

Most likely I'm probably missing something entirely and not piecing facts and plot events together. :badbone:  :guts:

Vinland Saga. Hands down one of the best mangas to read if you're looking for something close to the Berserk series. Vikings have always interested me and as a Viking themed manga, it can be intense, full of blood and drama.

Anime Asylum / Re: New Berserk Anime for 2016
« on: June 16, 2016, 12:54:46 AM »
If they decide not to pursue animating the Beast of Darkness in this series, then they are dooming a large chunk of the story and character plots to the toilet. How can they cut such an important part of the main character in a story? The Beast of Darkness is suppose to drive Guts forward because of his hate for Griffith, but also push him to control it to save his new companions at the same time.

Guts' Berserker armor would serve no purpose other than a visual upgrade. If there is no Beast of Darkness, there is no Guts going berserk (other than some strange alternative version the anime decides to follow)

Schierke's story and relationship with Guts will suffer as well because their won't be that struggle against the Beast and Guts' persona when it comes to using the Berserker armor to its potential.

Cutting the :beast: out will do this anime a huge dishonor and lose so much more potential than they have already lost.

I'm pleased that it's this month and that it will be resuming a monthly release!  :ubik:

Crossing fingers that it lasts more than 3 months in a row..

It has been ages, but that's because the episodes you reference have been in Vol 37 since 2013  :ganishka:

LOL. Grabbed my copy of 37 and literally face palmed. Guess I'm just rusty :farnese:

Awesome! Can't wait to reread the death of the Sea God and to see Chicchi again.

It's been ages, Miura, seriously.  :judo:

They did a great job I think with the One Piece Kaizoku Musou games. I wonder if each character will have an array of different skills and attacks, just like they did with the Strawhats and other pirates.

This will definitely be an interesting take on a Berserk game. I can imagine playing Zodd and transforming in his apostle form whenever I please to smash in skulls  :zodd:

:schnoz: Long time stalker of this forum, 2nd post ever...

It's a shame about the animation direction they decided to go with. But really what matters with me (and what should ultimately matter) is how well this studio can adapt this series well enough, that people who haven't read the actual series can get a comprehensive idea of what's going on in the manga storyline.
Really wish the Count and Rochine's story would be a part of this anime, but I can understand if they need to cut things out in order progress the anime in the direction they want.
I just hope they stay at least somewhat true to the story and not screw up important story plots and character relation (which is 75% possible). I gotta say though, I'm pumped to see Puck :puck:, Farnese :farnese:, Isidro :isidro:, and Serpico :serpico: animated and hope the studio can accurately portray their character relations and actions from the manga as best as they can. Craving a good Berserk animated show. Hoping this one is it.

I'm hyped to see them all in Guts' party. :guts:
