do you think we'll get the conversation with Griffith and Rickert in this episode?

I've been wondering that too. I'm all for seeing more of the day to day life of what's going on inside Falconia as it's fascinating, but I'm really hoping for a good long conversation between the two, not just a few passing words.

Thanks for the sneak peak, it looks amazing! I love the shot of the black dome, and the arena seems interesting, I wonder how they will play more into the future..

I'm glad to hear this as well. It amazes me how many people I talk to online that still find it hard to believe I purchase anime DVDs and manga graphic  novels, and they just download everything for free. I don't understand these fans who wont support the series they love.

Interesting choice for the cover, also not a huge fan of it, but it's not terrible. I wonder if it will be licensed by Dark Horse and released here in the states.

Got my friend Chrono Trigger for the Super Nintendo this week for a birthday present. We were both playing it all day, such a blast!

Very interesting. :) volume 27 on the right is pretty neat, volume 13 scares me.  :magni:

Which is riddled with inaccuracies...

Ugh, this is why I don't like talking to most anime / manga fans. Besides the article having incorrect information, people on the forums there feel that they deserve the episodes quicker, and are obligated for them in a timely manner, or how when Miura does want to take a break because he is a human being, it's assumed he has quit Berserk. I realize sometimes it is hard with the longer stretches with no new material up, but it  makes me cringe when I see this or others scoffing at actually paying for manga.

(sorry my rants done, just so glad we have a website like Skullknight and am thankful for it).

You guys... Shovel Knight. It's fantastic.

It's also getting solid reviews:
Polygon: 9/10
Giant Bomb: 4/5
Nintendolife: 90/100

Aaz and I were Kickstarter backers, so I got my copy for 3DS a few days ago. I'm about 1.5 hours in, and having a blast--way more than I expected. It's a cut above all the other nostalgia-grab games I've played, because the game, art and execution stand alone as a great concept. Its retro look, sound, feel and the homages to several of the best NES games are just the icing on the cake.

Highly recommended for anyone who grew up on NES games, or are just looking for a solid platformer.

That's great to hear, I am really looking forward to purchasing it and trying it out. I love older games like Mega Man, Duck Tales, etc so this looks like it's right up my alley. I'm conflicted on what system to buy it for, or to get it on Steam.

Do you guys think that Guts and Casca will get the brand removed in some way later in the story? The elf king would be a good start, but we don't really know what all his powers are at the moment, or if he can do that sort of thing. I'm wondering if the series can still end on a positive note but with both of them still having that.

The podcast was amazing and I think this is a great idea to have!  :ubik: It's always nice to hear more opinions on the subject of Berserk and I always learn something new from other fans. It would be fun to join in sometime if there is a opportunity.

(also I apologize about my last post, I think it came off as kind of rude, I didn't mean it like that. Sometimes I'm bad with words, I didn't realize it until I read it back to myself).

Buying / Selling / Re: Sellers Warning
« on: June 11, 2014, 06:24:53 AM »
I'm sorry to hear that, it must be frustrating. I'm actually in the process of selling some of my items on Ebay, and after doing some research on all the policies that have changed over the last few years, it does seem like the buyer is now more protected then the seller. I'm getting rid of a lot of video game collectables that are worth a good amount (like Little Samson for the NES), but I've been trying to cover myself as much as possible with: delivery confirmation, signature confirmation, exact details of the item descriptions, lots of pictures and using Paypal. Even with all of that I'm a bit wary as I read all these horror stories for sellers who have their merchandise returned in pieces while the buyer gets a full return on their money, but I guess you just have to take the chance.

Just watched the conference, I also love the big open world they plan on making, it looks beautiful. Link looks like a cross between Wind Waker and the Skyward Sword versions.

Congrats Griffith on the wedding, very exciting!

Right before the episode came out I also assumed it would lead right into the conversation with the two, but I think my expectations were a little too high. I still loved what we got and it's always interesting to see more of Falconia. I can't imagine how much time Miura has put into each drawing lately, but the attention to detail on the architecture is impressive, with all the different ways he has implemented the sign of the falcon somewhere.  :iva:

With how massive and intimating this place is, I still wonder how Guts and co are going to be able to get in. I'm thinking that someone from the inside is going to end up helping them, whether its Rickert, Luca, or another old friend.

Great podcast!

For some reason I get this feeling that Griffith isn't going to raid Elfhelm or anything like that; I feel like Guts, Casca, and group are going to have a decision to make to seek him out this time or head back there when the time is right. Whether it's for revenge, the Moonlight Boy or however the story progresses.

I can't wait to see the new Planet of the Apes movie coming out this summer. I love the originals from the 70's and enjoyed the new one. I know some people weren't too big on the CGI but I didn't really mind it, I thought it was well made and a little more realistic. The trailer for Dawn looks good from what I've seen; I hope they have the little easter eggs and tributes to the first series like they did with Rise.

I think it may very well be that the God Hand is bypassing the natural order of things by somehow isolating the population of Falconia from the "great ocean of souls" that exists down at the very bottow of the Astral World. Maybe they're sending them all directly to the "evil" part of that ocean (the Vortex of Souls), or maybe they're storing them in that huge sphere we've seen in Falconia, but either way I don't think we're being shown that power of Griffith just for the sake of it.

Now that's a scary thought, but could be the case.  :magni: I wonder if down the line we will see Rickert stumble across something that fills us in on what might be really happening behind the scenes.

Very interesting. It makes sense though, seeing as how we see Griffith do something similar in volume 23 so it's cool to see Miura going back to this but in more detail. Curious to hear what Rickert is thinking about all of this.

Yes I'm excited for next year, I believe UMASS still has an anime club, although when I asked them if I could attend a number of years ago they told me if I wasn't a student they wouldn't let me. I'm going to try to get the weekend off next year to attend anime Boston since that's the closest, but it all depends on what week it lands on. I never thought of checking for meet ups on the forums of the conventions, I'll check that out. :) Thanks!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I never really thought of card shops, I know we do have a local one here in our town and I enjoy games like Magic so maybe I should look into that. I am taking college classes to become a nurse right now, but I have thought about the option of moving when I'm finished, for other reasons too. Unfortunately my current school doesn't have Japanese courses offered, but I'll be going to UMASS next year which does. :) You are all very helpful I appreciate it.

Shootin' the Breeze / Any tips for meeting anime fans?
« on: May 16, 2014, 02:46:55 AM »
I feel kind of silly asking this but it's something that has frustrated me over the years, so I figured maybe I could get some advice from others on here:

I've been a fan of Japanese anime and manga for over 10 years, and I've had an incredibly difficult time trying to meet other fans or people who have similar interests. I only have a few close friends who I grew up with in high school, but they don't really care for a lot of my hobbies anymore. I know this will sound kind of pathetic but I've only met like two people in the last 8 or so years who even knew what anime was, and they both moved. One solution that seems simple is to just go to anime conventions, but my job requires me to work on the weekends and unfortunately almost all conventions I've ever checked out online for scheduling lands on some of our busiest days during the year, and I'm the only person in my position on the weekend at my job so I can't take it off. I live in Western MA and I've tried looking for clubs around the area but it's a dead zone out here. I've been told there are a ton in Boston but that's about three hours away.

I looked into online services for meet up groups, and I've only found a few and from the people I've talked to online they are rather sketchy guys so I didn't really feel comfortable. Anyway, hopefully this isn't a dumb question, I just wanted to get some suggestions and any tips would be really helpful. :)
