Anime Asylum / Re: 2016 Berserk TV series: Episode 2

@hearTes About Farneseīs knowledge. She saw the Falconīs in the 2nd film during during the victory ball, i guess. The show should acknowledge the film continuity though, for that to work. Not that they will. (The public knowledge that Guts is the Black Swordsman will rip more holes in the continuity later too, not that we will get that far.)
Ah right, completely forgot about that, thanks.

1. 2D animation was good for the most part. :guts:
2. Good pacing and it was nice to see that they didn't skip the minor interactions between the characters.  :ubik:
3. CGI and facial expressions don't go hand in hand in this adaptation.
4. Guts gets knocked out by a couple of wounds, a piece of log to the leg and a stab to the shoulder!?  :schierke:
5. No explanation for the Beherit. Farnese apparently knows that the corpses in the Red Lake were the Band of the Hawk and that Guts was a member of the group!?   :???:
6. Terrible OST.  :magni:
7. Please tell me we will get to see the legendary Rape Horse in the next episode.

Overall, it was better than the first episode but still has problems that take a lot away from the experience.

Anime Asylum / Re: What does Berserk really mean to you?

I understand what you're trying to say, though I don't think we have ridiculed any new members for liking the anime, just the anime itself. We have made efforts to point out positive things(scarce as they are) about the new series. I suppose we do need to focus on clearing any and all inconsistencies that the anime brings in the episode threads.

As for the new fans, I think everybody can agree that we need to direct them to the manga more than anything else.

Now that I think about it, they really put some good effort into the background throughout the episode, but at what cost?

Well, at least the forum is livelier eh? The only positive thing this anime has done so far.  :ganishka:

For someone unfamiliar with the books the films and series will seem like the greatest thing ever but for everyone else not so much. With that said have fun everyone.

 :judo:
I seriously doubt that.   :troll::ganishka:

The entire cart sequence (excluding the nightmare and the ensuing battle) was rather good in terms of animation. The score was cringe inducing.
The camera shifts in particular bothered me a bit too much, I couldn't stand the cheesy direction.

The score is unbelievably bad.

Rochine and Jill's names are conspicuously absent from the cast list, and the only thing in the PV from Lost Children is the possessed tree, so I think it's safe to say it's being skipped, which is extremely disappointing. I can't stand the animation style, either. How hard is it to get an anime adaptation of Berserk right?

Unfathomably hard apparently  :puck:

Someone posted this on Reddit.  Thought I'd share.

Guts Character Design:

Looks good overall, though the thighs seem a bit confusing, is that supposed to be leather? and why are lines running around it?

I'm not a science guy so I can't really say anything about the formulas or the logic , though I agree with the evidence for the numbers, but doesn't 58 TONS of TNT sound a bit ridiculous for our Struggler  :ganishka:

38
So Guts is a walking nuke eh?   :ganishka: :troll:

Oh, you forgot one thing, the Berserker armor was not active when he plunged the DS into the ground, therefore 58 tons on tnt is probably a modest figure  :guts: xD

The character models are looking good, but the first PV keeps haunting me.  :magni:

It seems that only the armor is CG, their actual bodies look like traditional hand-drawn 2D.

Incredible interpretation.
Could you do something similar for Void?:void: Miura once gave us a hint while talking about the God Hand's plan in an interview and I believe it was 'Void', although I'm not sure whether he was referring to the character.

I know its maybe too mainstream but just think the first segment were Casca's thoughts pre-eclipse and from the chorus were Guts post eclipse.
I've heard this song many times before, never got to know the name until now. Thanks!
Also, does post-eclipse mean his sprint? The song feels too light to fit it but maybe that's just me.

Personally I wonder how Schierke would be if she became a mother. Would she raise her child as a witch or wizard? :ganishka:

This makes you think about how Farnese would raise her child. Would she teach her child magic or not?

I often think about "Berserk Dads".

We all love Gambino don't we?  :ganishka:

I want to add Ganishka's mother to the list, who tried to kill him to put his brother on the throne.

Parenting in Berserk leaves err.... a lot to be desired :troll:

Speculation Nation / Re: What if Skullknight and Zodd.....
« on: May 11, 2015, 10:42:17 AM »
There are a few things wrong with this retelling. First, to be clear, it was Gaiseric that imprisoned the wiseman/sage. Second, the wiseman "proclaimed the sins of the king to god," while enduring countless tortures. The difference being that the wiseman wasn't begging god to punish the king. Third, it was only one "angel" that was sent.

Ah yes, I referred to the online translations instead of the official ones.

Err, no it doesn't...? Unless you're just saying it was another time when "angels" appeared during Gaiseric's reign. Otherwise there's nothing linking those two events.

Yes. Though since the official translations in volume 18 state that only 1 angel appeared, I don't think we can forge a strong link between the 2 said events.

I don't know about that. While I agree that the OP's theory is likely incorrect, there are still many possibilities open about Zodd's origins, and SK could have played a role in his past, making him more than "a simple rival". For one, Zodd knew about SK being the former wearer of the Berserk Armor. That's quite an enigmatic piece of information.

One thing we've discussed on our podcast a few times: SK groomed Guts to become who he is today. What if he did the same with Zodd, but it went badly, and he ended up choosing the path of apostles?

If I was SK and I did indeed groom Zodd, only for him to become Griffith's "chauffeur".... I 'd be very pissed  :femto:

ahhh ok ya that makes a lot of sense.. thank you and ya i've just always felt that SK was a sacrifice that escaped..

Indeed. Flora kinda confirms that SK suffers/used to suffer from the same curse in Volume 24.
