Nice!
So guys, quick question: how much of the main story and events do you think Miura is leaving to his imagination nowadays compared to, for example, ten years ago? Now that the story is so advanced in time, one would think that he's now at a big pivotal point in which not much is susceptible to change and all must be the way it's intended in his mind, plot-wise. But we're talking about Miura, so every detail could easily have come from inspiration, instead of his own previous planification of the plot throughout the years. How much would you guys say it is?

I imagine he has the general plot in mind and connects the dots as he goes. He doesn't seem like the make up as he goes along type. Given his past interviews, and his tendency to plant plot threads decades in advance.

On the bright side there are legitamate online translations of Berserk now, so DH won't get away with improvised translations.

I'm looking forward to how they retroactively justify getting Danan's gender wrong.

So here's a funny thing: this is a huge mistranslation by Dark Horse. In Japanese, that bubble only contains the hiragana "よ" (yo), a suffix that doesn't mean anything by itself. It can follow any number of words. So in English, the bubble should only contain an ellipsis.

Where do you get the japanese scans from?

I don't wanna seem like that irritating guy who screams "NOT CANON" everywhere, but I'm curious as to why you chose to acknowledge the Idea of Evil as a currently existing element in Berserk, despite Miura putting it aside, possibly not to approach it again.

Because the IOE is still referred to within the story. Void calls it the "God born of man" Flora mentions a great entity that guides the fate of the behilits, Guts feels its prescence during Griffiths rebirth, even calling it by name.

It will likely be a resolution, but not the way Guts wants it. I think Miura already mentioned the meeting will be bittersweet. Perhaps either Casca or Moon boy will die. I'll be interested to see what hapens to the world at large too, will it snap back to normal, or will mankind have live in the astral world forever.

She must be pretty rusty after not practicing for such a long time. I wonder if she still remembers how to be a soldier.
You also have to wonder what her motivation would be to pick up the sword again, because we haven't got to see what her thoughts for the future are yet. :???:
I would like for her to get back in on the action though.

She killed 3 mercenaries in her damaged state, I think she'll do fine.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Berserk: The Flame Dragon Knight novel

As for the inconsistency in this novel, it has to do with two of the sacrifices being "willing" sacrifices, along with the fact that Edvard made for a shitty sacrifice given his actions throughout the book, particularly the ending. Neither of those things pass the smell test, to me.

Forgot to mention that, yeah. Becoming a demon in Berserk is a wholly selfish act, and putting an anti hero spin on it kind of negates the whole point of "cutting away your humanity"

I haven't read it, what did he get wrong?

Apparently Edward, Benedicte and the Blonde knight get branded, and Grunbeld kills them. In every other apostle ceremony the vortex takes them.

The novel is out in germany and i have read the first 65 sites.I really hope that this is not canon. It seems that the autor dosn´t know that berserk isnt only about gore, rape and violence. In what i have read it feels like that there is far to much rape and detailed violent i really don´t like it. I regret to buy it.  :judo:

He also doesn't seem to know how sacrifices work.

It's interesting to see the return of the monster types teased at during the blast of the astral world. Since Miura likes to recycle established story elements, I wonder if we'll get to see the headless horseman or the swamp monster as well. I was wondering if they were going to use a type of elemental creature, one which couldn't be captured easily by giants, however the Hydras regeneration ability makes it more than a match for the elite aposltes. This is the first battle where the three of them worked together to take an enemy down.

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: Movies you've recently watched

One thing I dislike about the MCU movies in general, and already touched on by Griffith, is how uncreative and inconsequential their supernatural fights are, for example, there are clear distinctions of power between Berserk characters, Guts is physically stronger than Serpico, Zodd is physically stronger than Guts, Grunbeld is Physically stronger than Zodd, physical weapons cannot hurt the God Hand, Apsotles can't be harmed with superficial wounds. But with characters like Thor, and Hulk, I have no idea what their boundaries are, Thor can be knocked around by Thanos, but also tolerate the raw power of a star, Thanos can tolerate the blows of the Hulk, but can be stabbed by Gamora, Dr Strange, a character who was horribly mangled in a car wreck, survives Thanos with a few cuts and bruises, it's very confusing. That being said I enjoyed Infinity War, it was a very effective culmination of what they built up to so far.

I found Thanos' motivation a little generic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5Qo6Y1cyhI, though it was portrayed very effectively, Thanos doesn't commit atrocities out of malice or hatred of all life, but because he honestly believes it's the right thing to do, he treats his opponents with reverance and respect that reminds of Ken Oh from Fist of the North Star. Not only that but he has to make personal sacrifices in order to reach his goal, it's a desire he must commit to absolutely, and in that respect he is a lot like  :griffnotevil: , speaking of which there is a moment in the film that bares an uncanny resemblance to a certain iconic scene in Berserk, which I am 90% sure they lifted from the Berserk movie.

Though it's expected that the outcome would turn out this way, I'm glad they had the courage to let the villain win, ultimately the events of this film are going to be reversed, but it at least gives IW an effective cliffhanger for part 2, I hope to see Thanos fighting the most powerful celestial beings in the MCU in the sequel, however his gauntlet has been damaged after weilding the full power of the stones, he may not have the power left to fight against literal space gods.

Astral creatures are created by the mass subconsciousness of humanity, it's explained in 24-26. I assume, from what we've seen of the ogres and trolls, and told directly by Slan, that astral beings are formed of dead spirits, it's not a stretch considering spiritual beings such as apostles and the God Hand are literaly formed from the vortex. We even see the spirits of hell forming Femto's body in the IOE episode. Perhaps there is a domain similar to the abyss and nexus where light sided magical creatures are formed of positive spirits.

What concerns me is the consequence of the transition, if Miura switched to Griffith's POV, then that may mean he's shown all he needs to show when it comes to Casca's healing, which means, at this time, what we've been presented with may be as far as their relationship goes.

Bigger question, Griffith and his apostles are on a crusade against such creatures. But what would go down if they came across Ubik's merry men? Or Conrad's skeleton krew?

Are they even in the current world layer?

Episode 357: In a death defying duel between Griffith and the Giant leader, Griffith suddenly transforms into the Moonlight Boy and teleports to Fantasia where we return to the POV of Guts' crew :ganishka:

At least we have an answer to where Zodd and Grunbeld have been, It's expected that Griffith's shock troops would be at the front lines. It's also interesting to see creatures introduced to us in volume 34, oddly these creatures seem more intelligent than the astral monsters we've seen so far, they form flags, suits of DIY armour, and crude weapons. I wonder what the overall point of this battle is, are the Falcons simply defending their borders? is this a form of expansion of Falconia's territory? or does Griffith want to recruit the giants? Either way this will provide some well needed context of the state of Fantasia, since the last Griffith POV episode focused mainly on Rickert, I hope this time we will see the next steps in Griffith's plan.

The attention to detail, I guess it's more easy to have air tight continuity in your series when there's only one person in charge of it. However I cannot think of any internal inconsistencies in Berserk, in fact there are always details in the story that I miss. One example I can think of is Guts second fight with Zodd, throughout the fight Rickert doesn't recognise Zodd until he transforms, because he's never seen him in his humanoid form, it didn't even occur to me.

I think the only plausible candidate for using the Beherit is Serpico. Casca can't use the Beherit when Guts has already been sacrificed, and Griffith is a God Hand member. I doubt the God Hand would trade one of their own for a commom type of demon.

Does anyone think that Casca will have any guilt associated with having her troops killed during the eclipse? Something along the lines of survivor guilt or the guilt a commander losing their troops. I think it would be interesting if the group was attacked or was about to go to battle and then Casca takes lead instinctively, but in the back of Casca's mind she is reminded of the time during the Eclipse when Apostles surrounded the Band of the Falcon. It would be even more badass if Casca fights through any self doubt and leads like the baddest woman in the history of Midland.

I exoect so since, Rickert and Guts beasr similar guilt. I also think guilt over Griffith's downfall is probably going to be a factor too.

I'm curious what you think makes that a strong case. I can't say I've ever considered the idea, but it doesn't seem to me any more or less likely than other scenarios, and it sounds like a cliché setup for the final confrontation (not to mention disempowering Casca from an active role). That is to say, it doesn't sound like Miura.

I agree, it sounds cliche for a series like Berserk and it's not what I or I hope Miura would choose. I think it's likely because Griffith eliminates the possibility of Guts exploiting his weakness. Namely the demon baby taking control of his body. If he has Casca locked up in a room in Pandemonium, it may prevent the Moonlight boy from visitng Guts and company.

If assuming Griffith can't harm Casca directly, his only option to protect his secret is to capture her, it may also be that he is the only demonic being powerful enough to enter Elfhelm, but now I'm getting ahead of myself.

It also gives Guts an incentive to leave the safety of Elfhelm and go after Griffith. Now he is entirely morally justified in pursuing him.
