I think it will be/might be a cool/neat idea if we have the chance to experience a travel through the World Spiral Tree's branches with the Sea Horse floating/flying through it imbued by magic (ofc.). Maybe a little bit too far off for a fantasy and it goes into the sci-fi direction, but in terms of visual presentation it can potentially create amazing vistas (a lonely ship gracefully drifting into the night sky, while full moon illuminates the crew on the deck and thousand little stars glitter distorted by the luminescent matter of the tree's essence).

Reminds me of Peter Pan, The Silmarillion, and Final Fantasy IV, actually.

Seems this anime has finally found it's footing. I enjoyed this episode about as much as the last one. Mozgus in the torture scene was laughable though. He's much creepier in the manga. I don't know if it's the animation quality (probably) but that scene came off as goofy to me. Surprised they included the Beherit Apostle's eyes at the beginning of the refugee camp, and I was happy to see Silat and the Tapasa.

Since they excluded Conrad in Windham, I wonder if they'll show Slan at the pagan orgy in the next episode?

Also, did anyone notice that in the scenes depicting Casca in the Eclipse, that she has a tentacle jammed in her mouth? Seriously, that was just fucking excessive and unnecessary.

I didn't, but it's not without warrant

It seems the merging of the worlds has happened before, Gaeserics conquest wasn't as cut and dried as it looked, he may have followed a similar route to Griffith, with Void as his accomplice in world domination  :void:

Or the layers were one and have since been separated.

Yeah, these screenshots don't look so great. Nice to see these guys in the game though! Hopefully they aren't just in cutscenes.

Thanks so much, Aaz and Puella! This episode has me so excited.

Isidro is killing me! He has no idea how close he is :ganishka:

They go on to explain that those trees are symbolic representations that exist in different worlds, and that their role is to prevent the world tree's branches to extend to the real world. They do this by absorbing the world tree's power. And by protecting the land, they prevent the balance of the real world and astral world from tipping. They think it's their duty. They tell her that her teacher was also one of those magicians.

Am I understanding this correctly? The forest of spiritual trees aren't actually trees, it's just a phrase that describes the various seals that syphon the World Spiral Tree's power, and these seals are related to the land (the area around and including the tree house mansion?). So the apostles weren't just after Flora, but her "tree" as well (which was assumed based on the info from the previous episode).

Looks like a lot of discussion. I feel like this is going to be a really great episode! Beherits, World Spiral Tree, Falconia. I love Guts' comment on Griffith's ambition.

It always amazes me how applicable the traits of these flowers are. I find it hard to believe they are mere coincidences, especially with some of the previous topics. Regardless of their validity, it's always fun to read through your posts and wonder.

Be still, my beating heart! I mean, I didn't have any doubts that Serpico would be included, but I'm excited to finally see him (and the sylph gear)!

Finally watched the episode; not much to add. I thought this episode was really boring, and I agree that Miura's involvement seems highly questionable. The one thing I really want to say is I hated the quick-draw scene. That was the moment in the manga where I first decided Serpico was going to be a guy to watch out for. The intensity just wasn't there. And maybe that's how it's supposed to be and my experience was unique. It just didn't feel right to me. And having the credits rolling over the scene was horrible and dismissive. I hope the duel on the cliff side is better executed.

I have to say, "Demise of the Ritual" evokes a very specific emotion in me, which I don't think was represented in the video. Much of it just feels like I'm watching muted Berserk clips while I have iTunes playing in the background. In other words, I don't think the music and video play off each other particularly well, despite your best attempts to make it work. That said, the swell and God Hand reveal is very nice and the best part of the video, imo.

Yeah, the range in quality of the 2D is something to behold.

Not much to say this time. A lot of my sentiments were covered by Imperator, Aaz, and Walter in the chat, and it seems to be shared by most everyone. Anyway, less egregious than the last, but the wonky animation really ruins it. I actually liked the emotion in the tent scene where Guts tells Farnese that she's as hollow as her idol, but then the animation completely took me out of it.

I also hate all the cuts between 2D and 3D, not because it's jarring, but because it's a constant reminder of what could have been.

Sun's legendary looks a lot cooler, but I'm a big fan of the moon, so I'd definitely be going that route.

I think it's only natural if both things occur. Certain people in Falconia should be able to cast off their "sheep" mentality by the end, recognize their predicament and seize their own destinies. If it's only Guts who delivers that future to them, then I don't think it would be quite as powerful.

Ah yes, that's a good point.

I really don't like Popplio's design, but I've always chosen the water starter ever since Squirtle in Red (though I didn't play White/Black). If I get around to playing Sun/Moon, I'll probably still choose the stupid thing. Besides, it's not like I have to use him, and maybe his later evolutions are better looking.

One could imagine an industrial pseudo-apostle factory in Falconia where "volunteers" would receive "holy power" to better fight for the Falcon.

Very cool notion right there. If/when Guts and Co. return to Midland, we could see the return of the misplaced idea that Guts is the Falcon of Darkness (which would be interesting to see Farnese on the opposite side of where she started!), and the citizens of Falconia might take up arms in such a way for (another) holy war.

That said, I've always imagined the fall of Falconia being due to a more secretive resistance as opposed to another large scale campaign.

Tons of new screenshots

I spy a cannon-arm spin slash :carcus:

I think my unconfirmed "must haves" are Serpico, Isidro, Skull Knight, Grunbeld, Zodd, Irvine, Rakshas, Locus. If we got those along with the confirmed characters, I'd be completely happy. I really wonder how many Falcons they'll include. I honestly didn't expect to see Judo.

But I've got a sick feeling apostles might be saved for bosses only.

There's absolutely nothing appealing here. They need to step up these DLC skins if they want my money (but it's gonna have to be pretty good).

Watched it again with my fiance, who begrudgingly watched the Golden Age trilogy some time ago (it's the only way I can get them to experience Berserk). Thought it would be fun to share a couple comments they made while watching:

The animation looks different. I don't like it.
Everything looks like it's been scribbled on.
Ooh, those trees! I can't wait for Christmas!

Captured the essence of the experience well, I thought. Anyway, looks like I'll be the only one watching in my household from now on despite their initial commitment to following me down this shithole.
