Manga Mausoleum / How is the Dragonslayer hanging on Guts' back?
« on: August 09, 2006, 09:11:47 AM »
One thing that has bothered me lately is how the Dragonslayer is actually hanging on Guts' back. I haven't yet found a drawing where this is clearly shown, and everything I found out so far is that he has this chain with a hook at its end, which I guess is used to hold the DS.
But I can't imagine how this should work since the hook is hanging so low that the DS would touch the ground when hanging on that hook. Also it must be pretty difficult to put the DS back on his back quickly after a fight.
Please enlighten me. :guts:

Wow, that are extremely nice statues. Especially the faces are very close to the original. Only Evarella looks a bit weird.
Damn, why can't AoW model faces like these. :P

I can tell you that it's not me. Even if I really wanted that statue I wouldn't pay that much for it.

That's a very nice sword. :isidro:
Getting Guts' Hawks sword made is my next goal once the DS is done - and I have money again ;)

That statue is so gorgeous, I could bang my head against a wall all day for missing it. :miura:

You can definitely be proud of this one as your first statue. :serpico:

I plan on winning  :guts:

Chiba, if you're interested in a MF, I do have one you might be interested in.

I have so many statues currently in preorder that I can't afford another one anyways, so you don't have to be afraid of me outbidding you. :judo:

AOW EMAILED ME AND SOMEONE CANCELLED SO I NOW HAVE AN ORDER FOR THIS STATUE.  THANK YOU FOR READING, HAVE A GOOD DAY!

 :guts: :guts: :guts:

That's good news! :serpico:

They emailed me yesterday too that someone cancelled his Guts on Horse order and that I'm next in line, maybe it's the same guy. :guts:

I just wonder how someone can cancel his order that late, thought that only works 2 weeks after confirming it.

Character Cove / Mozgus' beak disciple
« on: June 29, 2006, 09:11:07 PM »
So I just reached the part again, where Mozgus has his first appearance along with his disciples (http://www.skullknight.net/faq/characters/disciples.jpg). There I also saw this "beak" disciple and remembered that I already wanted to look up more information on him years ago when I first read the manga.
Well today, I stumbled across this while I was actually looking for something totally different: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_doctor.
Do you think Miura took the idea for the beak disciple from this?

If this was already brought up I'm sorry, I couldn't find anything.

This time I was there in time and got mine! I have order# 103 and I ordered it about 2 minutes after it was up. That's just crazy. :isidro:

Btw, I wonder when AoW will finally "renewal" their site, as announced. :serpico:

Lol, I'm surprised that Miura (or his representatives) obviously doesn't care at all. :serpico:

Ugh, my ability to use DK's site sucks today, I apologize. ^.^;

And yeah, I'm used to Behe.lit cause it's the german translation. Somehow they replaced every r in a name with an l, weird.
On the box AoW printed "Befferit" is that the way it's pronounced in Japan?

Berserk Merchandise / Beherit statue?
« on: June 22, 2006, 07:43:28 PM »
So I got this today (http://alieneye.net/pub/Beherit.jpg)
It's from AoW, but I can find it neither on AoW's site nor on DK's site. Has anyone got some information about this Beherit statue?

Edit: why is this forum replacing Behe.lit with Beherit? It ruined the link! ;)

I encourage you to go check Derek's site for more information: everything you need to know is in there, every different version of every statue.

Thanks, I'll do that. :serpico:

So if the seller writes that they're rare AoW releases he's wrong, right? Cause that's what confused me about some auctions.

That's good to know.
But from what I know, a statue has eitehr a seral number or none at all, right? I've seen statues that had a plate for a serial number, but no number on it, what does that mean?

The item you saw was a bootleg resin kit of Grif on horse and is NOT an AOW item. Art of War did release an unpainted Grif on Horse kit but there were a very limited number and are very expensive. Ask Derek, he is lucky enough to actually own one!

As long as the price is ridiculously low and it comes from a suspicious country it's not hard to identify a bootleg, but I wouldnt know it if someone sold it for a more common price and that's what I'm afraid of.

How do you guys know that this statue is an original AoW statue?
I've seen Griffith Horse Riding statues on eBay with a buyout of 35$ and they were all from Taiwan, so whenever I see that country as item location it rings an alarm bell in my head.
I'd really like to know so I don't buy a fake statue one day. :miura:

Vagabond / Re: Vagabond Returns.
« on: June 20, 2006, 04:44:24 PM »
I'm also a big fan of Vagabond, I read volume 21 a few weeks ago. As with Berserk, I guess I'll have to re-read it one day, cause I notice with every new volume that I already forgot a lot of the previous story.
The art is gorgeous (not quite as good as Berserk, but still ;)) and I really like the way Inoue tells the story.

Wow, this looks extremely well in my opinion. I must have this statue. :guts:

Just curious: who is this Masato, and where does he get the pics from? Is he an AoW employee?

You're gettin your own personal Dragon Slayer forged?!?! Now all you need is someone to start on your own personal Berserk Armor... :chomp:
Too bad you couldn't arrange to video tape the process. That would be sweet, How to Forge A Dragon Slayer...tonight on the Discovery Channel. :guts:

Well, it's not really forged like a normal sword (read the details above). That would be too expensive and as many people already said, I doubt there is a forge large enough to fit the Dragonslayer. :guts:
