Shootin' the Breeze / Any pool players here?
« on: February 20, 2004, 09:32:35 PM »
Last night I ended up playing my best friend in the final game of a single elimination tournament. Unfortunatly for me, I tried a bank when I should have double banked and he won by default (he's way better than me anyway, my teacher actually, but last night I should have had the bastard =). Either way, it shouldn't have ended like that. I much rather he just run out the table on me. But, it was still lots of fun, we showed up looking to dominant and we acomplished that.

Anyway, I'm just curious if anybody else out there is a pool junkie?

P.S. My new cue is coming today according to UPS! Here's hoping it's not a dud.

Shootin' the Breeze / Ban Xechnao?
« on: January 30, 2004, 07:19:14 PM »
I thought this should be handled in some sort of democratic fashion. Lots of people hate Xech, and he is causing disturbances all over the board. So, it's simple, if people here really can't get enough Xechnao, he'll stay and continue to brighten our lives. If he's nothing more than an annoying twerp you can't believe hasn't been banned already, than he's GONE, FINETO, OUTENZY!

Remember, the power is YOURS!

Shootin' the Breeze / THE SPACE PRESIDENT!

Someone brought up Bush and his wacky moon base in another thread about lame movies based on overrated cartoons. I just wanted to see what we all think around here on the subject of a moon base and a manned mission to Mars, as this is quite the diversified and opinioned group. ;)

For me, it basically sealed the deal that this nut needs to get re-elected just so he can do these crazy things other people don't have the vision (or lack of common sense) to do. I was pretty apathetic about politics after Arnold got elected, but now I have a new champion in the person I least suspected; Uncle Dubya, PRESIDENT OF SPACE! Fuck the welfare state I say! Let social Darwinisim rule on Earth while mankind takes to the stars! We're talking about REAL human progress here people! 8)

Shootin' the Breeze / Banned of the Hawks
« on: September 24, 2003, 06:27:23 AM »
Well, it finally happened, I have been exiled from the Band of the Hawks forum.

I was an agitator; a political terrorist, a threat that had to be crushed before my volatile cry of reform caused an uprising that threatened to destabilize their entire community. Faced with their worst fear, myself, and lacking the means or the mettle to engage me openly, they had no recourse but to erase my existence like the cowards they are.

Governor Schwarzenegger’s Time Is At Hand!

I’m officially endorsing and even campaigning for Arnold Schwarzenegger, future Governor of my beloved Golden State. Fellow California citizens...
With the World’s 5th largest economy and King Schwarzenegger on the throne, California will make the Roman Empire look like… well, not as good as we’re going to look when Arnold’s in charge! I predict that within six months of Arnold getting elected, California will leave the Union and become it’s own World Super Power (so long, Dubya)! Within two years after that, Arnold will conquer America. Then, within the next decade, Arnold will rule the World itself! Human civilization is at the threshold of its zenith!

Hasta la vista, Gray-E!

While searching for pictutres of Spidey in his symbiote costume (harder to find than one would think considering it's fucking Spider Man) and stumbled on this:

I can't say I disapprove (clever way of showing us Oc without showing him too). Other opinions?

Current Episodes / Episode 224
« on: July 13, 2003, 10:17:49 PM »
So we have a fresh thread when the chapter arrives.

Basic summary: Guts vs Grunbeld; Guts isn't doing too good. Schierke and Isidro and Serpico are getting Guts' his new armor. Apostles advance on the mansion. Skully tries intercept them and is in turn intercepted by Zoddo; Skully vs. Zoddo.

Wow, it sounds awesome even in that rather humble recap.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Flesh + Blood
« on: April 14, 2003, 02:22:12 AM »
Check it out, this movie partially influenced Berserk:

Miura: “I wasn't really thinking of anybody at the time I created Guts. But if you're only talking about his looks and not about his personality then I guess Rutger Hauer was the model. I saw him playing a mercenary in a medieval movie, "Flesh & Blood" and I really liked him in that movie.”

Just by looking at the cover, the parallel to Berserk is obvious. I managed to find a copy of it that was taped off of HBO, so I’m going to watch it tonight (if this old tape actually works). It’ll be interesting to see the similarities between it and the series.

P.S. Told you Guts was Dutch. ;)

Site & Forum News / New Shizznittle People, AND A CONTEST, OH MY!
« on: March 20, 2003, 10:39:43 AM »
Okay, if you haven't noticed, the sites going under a makeover. Just check out the news page to see the awesome new flash logo. This thing rocks, hours of fun for the whole family. And here's the "contest" part of it, first one to correctly guess who all the Berserk characters are supposed to be will get a secret prize.

This prize could possibly be totally badass, or it might be totally shit. It honestly don't know. It depends on how quickly you can guess the characters.

Have at it, and enjoy the new eye candy.

P.S. Walt, you forgot to put 'Ro at the bottom.

Shootin' the Breeze / Dream Diary
« on: February 05, 2003, 08:14:34 PM »
Okay, weird dream last night, check it out…

BTW, these are just notes I took after waking up. It's not supposed to be written well, I haven't proff-read or even read it myself yet. I finished typing it moments ago from whatever I could desperatly remember. Enjoy the charm of that. ;)

First off, I’m Japanese; not a usual thing for me. It starts with me climbing up this cliff with three buddies. We’re right at the top, but getting over is a pain and I don’t have a good grip, I’m practically falling. So I chill and let them climb over so I can have their help (I even think I’m real clever for it, what an ass). But, before that can happen, this uppity, pug-faced Samurai shows up and tells us to get out of there. Naturally, I don’t give a shit, I’m trying to get on top of the cliff. So, step and fetch goes and gets his master, greeeeat. So then his pug-faced master shows up (great, their family), coming out of this large hut about 15 feet from the cliff. When this guy shows up and starts throwing big blue clubs at me, I manage to climb over the top of the cliff instantly. And I shit you not; the guy was throwing big, blue, Flintstone’s style clubs at me. So now I’m deflecting clubs while my cowardly buddies scurry about elsewhere, I guess they’re keeping the other guy busy. Anyway, now that I’ve climbed the cliff, there’s this bamboo bridge/platform behind me. What the fuck!? Well, I pick up a club and start running from this guy while he continues to launch heavy shit in my direction. The clubs are sharp at the end of the handle and double as spears. I figure I’ll nail him with that. Before I can bust a Matrix-move, though, I fall through the fucking platform. Instead of falling to my death though, I land on grass about 7 feet below…okay. I never did technically look down while I was climbing the top of the “cliff”, but I had envisioned a beautiful tropical jungle miles below. Anyway, knowing he thinks it’s still a cliff (I don’t know why he should, sine he lives there), I run around to the other side and ambush him from below. Now, The View is on… yes, the duel ends where The View begins. All the horrible woman of the view are there, and they’re interviewing Heidi Fleiss about becoming a hooker/Madam. Naturally they keep interrupting her story to cast judgment on her and whatnot. And for some reason, Heidi Fleiss is Julianne Moore, I just don’t know why. She’s desperately trying to talk about being a hooker while the View women YAK YAK YAK! Anyway, the segment eventually ends and guess what! Now I’m inside the hut with the Samurai and it’s a brothel!! Neato, my dream has clever segues like a sassy independent film. Or a big budget movie trying to look independent. So, naturally, me and my buds want to screw the hookers. But the Samurai don’t want that, they’re guarding the hookers for some reason. There’s other Samurai, but their faceless dudes, no real purpose in the dream other then to give the place a little showing of numbers. So, me and my friends start to get into their armor. I find a giant empty room with a horse in it, and some awesome armor sitting on top of it. But I’m thrown out before anything can be done. Anyway, I manage to screw on e of the girls, a hot blonde that acts kinda retarded (imagine that). Well, the Samurai get all bent out of shape about it and decide to commit seppuku. This was the funniest part of the dream watching these guys awkwardly ram their swords through themselves. They did not look cool, or horrifying at all, it was just pure comedy. Anyway, Im’ trying to get into the super armor again, when the Samurai that just killed themselves show up alive! The master is angry at his pug-faced son for disgracing the family, he stabs him through the stomach, then slices down! YIKES! I ran out of the room slightly horrified, slightly amused (I never liked the jerk). So, then this hooker that I don’t think is that hot is supposedly taking me to the prize of the place. The room is like a closet, and the girl is under a pile of fluffy clothes and stuff animals and shit. And OH MY GOD is she cute! Total dream female. No girl could be this big and this small at the same time if you know what I mean. Red hair and big brown eyes, perfect skin, long legs...well, I better focus oin writing this... She’s also totally innocent, to the point where she seems retarded too…VERY RETARDED. =) Well, I attack her and her mammoth mammeries while she just giggles like a goof and says things like “Weee” and “I want it”. Anyway, I’m pretty sure this makes me a pig. =) But, then, suddenly, she starts oozing this black stuff and it’s getting everywhere, I’m grossed out and jump back. The stuff is like the symbiote from Spider-Man. The other hooker (who was watching me and the other one the whole time, I think she told me to be gentle promting the “I want it” from the giggle whore) says that it’s some strange disease. Well, everyone’s getting infected with this shit. So it’s time for me to leave, yo.  I run to that room with the horse and armor, avoiding sloppy zombies along the way. I clib on board and ride on out of dreamland. THE END

Speculation Nation / What else they could be…
« on: February 03, 2003, 07:40:50 PM »
Hello. :)

If you’ve been reading “Griffith the Enchanter”, you’ve seen me arguing with Saiki about whether the main men in Griffith’s new Band of the Hawks are Apostles or not. I’m sure that’s how were supposed to see it, at least until Miura reveals otherwise. Saiki thinks we shouldn’t make up our minds yet. Well, the whole debate has me looking at Berserk at lot more sharply (why I like debating in the first place), and I got to thinking while I was lying down to go to bed; okay, if they aren’t Apostles, what else could they be? So, I thought about that, thought about Roberto’s dream observation and came up with a theory. That perhaps they are no more than they seem, “heroes”. Legends kids were told about as bedtime stories. Heroes that before only existed in the spiritual world like Trolls, Ogres and the Schnoz. That idea appealed to me, it would give us more insight into the spiritual world, explain a lot about them, and it opens up a lot of other possibilities. It could also be something inbetween I believe, look at Griffith, he’s a legend too, but to put it into “Berserk Science” he’s technically a God Hand reborn. So they could be a little bit Apostle, a little bit dream warrior. They could still be considered demons anyway. So, anyone else have a suggestion?

P.S. Oh yeah, I stand by everything I said in "Griffith the Enchanter." But a guy can think, can’t he? ;)

I just got a chance to play version 0.02 tonight. Simply put, it was awesome, even if the frame rate was 18fps (it went to 1 on number of violent occasions =)! It’s the first game that’s impressed me or that I’ve truly enjoyed playing in a long while, and it’s only a leaked alpha. The gameplay is much like Doom but with a much moodier Resident Evil subtext; very cool. The graphics are amazingly realistic; right down to light and shadows that react to one another as they would in real life. All other FPSers look like bright happy cartoons in comparison, I shit you not. It's the only game in development that I actually look forward to, or will probably buy. Other opinions?

Shootin' the Breeze / Bebop blah blah
« on: November 04, 2002, 10:05:54 PM »
I blame the ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ IT'S A CAT! people for giving guys like us a bad name.
The only anime requirement I'd put on a girl, she'd have to appreciate Bebop at least.
 Just appreciate it.
I couldn't believe Aunt Milly didn't like it, I mean, she liked Trigun.
And Bebop makes Trigun look like Sesame street.
Spike's such a good character there simply isn't anything to figure out about him I've decided.
Wow, I'm notice adverse affects on my mind

Site & Forum News / New Icons
« on: November 03, 2002, 11:48:58 AM »
Two new Farnese & Casca icons here for you today.

First up, this icon of Farnese desperatly trying to protect Casca from the attacking trolls. Behind that, in contrast, you can see Farnese as she was before joining Guts and growing as a human being. It's in letterbox format for a more cinematic experience. ;)

Next, a personal favorite of mine. =) Farnese telling Casca to get on her groove thang with that big ass of hers! I would have letterboxed this too, but it seems more like something you'd see on Showtime.

P.S. Any new icons I create I'll post in this thread from now on.

Character Cove / Kermit = Griffith
« on: October 18, 2002, 10:16:16 PM »
I was watching The Muppet Movie the other night, and believe it or not I happened to notice some similarities between it and Berserk. ;D
Particularly between Kermit and Griffith. Check out Kermit’s dream speech when he confronts himself and see what I mean. Kermit's name is in bold, his "other self" is in italics.

Kermit: I brought 'em out here in the middle of nowhere. It's all my fault.

Kermit: Still, whether you promised them something or not, you've got to remember... they wanted to come.

Kermit: But... that's because they believed in me.

Kermit: No. They believed in the dream.

Kermit: Well, so do I, but...

Kermit: You do?

Kermit: Yeah. Of course I do.

Kermit: Well, then...

Kermit: Well, then... I guess I was wrong when I said I never promised anyone. I promised me.

Definitely parallel’s Griffith and the Hawks.
