Current Episodes / Re: Episode 350

Four damned Seven-Elevens later, I found Young Animal. It was nice having the insert that covers the most recent episode of the anime - good for comparison.

Episode 350 moved things along nicely. Seeing that "6/23" at the end of the episode was nice. Highlights include the first-person memories, the Schierke eye-coverings and the adorable mini-Casca saying that she wants to see that person... I feel like it's Griffith, but I'm thinking Guts. Either way, my heart strings were well and truly pulled.

So, after playing the beta and the recent demo, I pre-ordered Nioh.

Pre-ordering is something I almost never do. However, the devs took feedback from the community seriously and strike me as a team that will give this franchise their full support out the game. It is definitely borrowing a lot from Dark Souls, but with a Warring States flare. It is difficult, but fair. The co-op makes the experience a lot of fun. I'm basically all in at this point.

People from the Vagabond board might recognize a few of the names of NPCs and enemies, too.

Hey guys.

So, I put together a kind of review/thoughts/impressions video of Berserk Musou ahead of the Western release. Please take a look and let me know what you think:

I apologize for my terrible recording quality. I was using the PS4 capture and the crappy iMovie record function with no microphone.

YUP. Our girl Schierke is OP as hell.  :schierke:

Hey, man, can you help me out? I beat the game and now I can only replay the levels as young Guts, I cannot choose costumes or anything. Also, how do I unlock Femto? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late response!

If you go to "Free Mode" you can choose any character, with any unlocked costume. It's quite fun rolling through some encounters with different encounters. As for Femto, you can get him for Griffith as a hidden feature by finishing the "Eclipse" challenge with Griffith. You will unlock the Millennium Falcon Griffith costume. Hit L2+R2 when you have a full Special gauge and you are in berserk/frenzy mode. This will unlock Femto for the duration of your berserk/frenzy gauge.

To be Femto permanently, I think you need to complete all the missions by doing 100 floors of the "Eclipse" challenge on every character.

This is a big time investment, and some characters (cough :???: cough) aren't especially easy to do it with. I took a break from the game, but currently trying to unlock Femto.  :femto:

So. Spent a fair amount of time with the game, and mostly played as Guts. Gotta say, the Berserk armor is incredibly fun to play as. Guts feels like a powerhouse, but his swings are easy to interrupt, so he is susceptible to damage from high level enemies. However, when you transform, oh man, it captures the power of the armor so well. The move set is very limited, but you can cut through previously challenging areas like butter.

Here is a bit of footage I captured a week or so ago.

As powerful as Guts feels, from what I've played, Serpico and Schierke might be even more broken. :beast:

Pre-orders are not worth it. It costs $15-20 more for no reason. The skins are so expensive in Japan -- I will wait for the inevitable DLC.

More boss fights

Um... did they go with my pink Grunbeld coloring from years ago?!

Just pre-ordered the game. Take a guess which DLC costume I went with... hint: it wasn't this one (this just comes with Day 1 orders)

I will probably be streaming on Twitch if you guys are interested?

These images are from the Berserk Guidebook that was recently released.

Sorry about the phone quality images. They show what appears to be a very dark vision. Inside a coffin bearing The Band of the Hawk symbol that is being dragged by a frail/dead horse we see broken doll with a brand on its chest. These images also show a child with long hair - maybe the moonlight child or an infant Casca. At the end there appears to be an image of Guys staring off into the distance.

Photos were taken on a train, sorry for the blur. Happy to provide alternatives when I have time if they're requested.

Playing them is a lot more fun than watching for sure, but if this has the same gameplay mechanics as one piece warriors 3 you'll be able to start an attack string > dash > continue the attack string, vs start the attack string > dash > start all over from the first square attack. This is a big deal as it makes the combat run a lot smoother. I also THINK you'll be able to cancel attack animations with R1 or the crossbow/cannon attacks etc.

Usually in one piece warriors, R1 was meant to be pressed after the last hit of an attack string so that you would cancel the lag animation (even tho some would look pretty cool). You would also dash after an R1 attack to close the gap between you and the enemies. Newer players won't know how implement these things so it's understandable if all they're doing is spamming square.

My Fujitora knows this R1 trick and animation cancel well. That's why his character is so broken  :beast:

I wanna respond to some of the footage we've seen so far.

Whoever was playing sure liked to mash □□□

To be fair, the games aren't super deep in terms of combat. What's more, if they were playing with a low level character they would've had a smaller move set. But man, it reminded me that watching Musou games is far less entertaining than playing them.

Also, I can't tell if the Super meter in the bottom left is supposed to be The Beast's eye motif, or a Batarang...

Character Cove / Re: Guts and Corkus's relationship/interactions

I posted something about Corkus in 2004. It was a repost of an older post I had made on another forum, so this is probably older than 12 years. Yikes.

It's awfully written, with a myriad spelling and grammatical errors, but I still feel the same about some things. Corkus was one of the only ones grounded in reality. I still find his calling Guts out on his lofty dream to be very refreshing. As I get older, the more I appreciate and enjoy Corkus' perspective.

Thanks for bringing rekindling this thred! It was fun reading over Wally's fervent defense of Corkus too.

I was waiting for official confirmation, since Twitter is...yeah.

I wonder what spirit is living in that armor!?

Spooky vision.

But whatever, more Berserk. Nobody asked for it, but we're getting it anyway. We can only hope they drastically alter it for the better, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

3:18:20 Casca gameplay
3:26:02 Scenario Select / Puck loading screen
3:26:51 Serpico gameplay

Haha, thanks was just coming back to post just this. Thanks!

Honestly, I liked what I saw. It is a Musou-ass Musou game. Nice to see Pipin riding around with Casca! I could stand a little less of the vapid, but seemingly mandatory, commentary from the voice actresses, but that's part and parcel of trade shows.

I'll be pre-ordering it. The question is.... which pre-order bonus do I go for...

There will be a Berserk Musou stream today from 16:00 JST onward.

Maybe we'll get some more info (hopefully new character), but the description for the event doesn't give me much hope.

I'm not in love with his special attack, nor the environment the fight takes place in, but still, I love how FAST Guts' possession form is:

Miura's Comment this week:

I went to the "Chica Umino's World" event. So beautiful... (*ω`*) I was also surprised at the breadth of attendees!

He is referring to this exhibition/event for the creator of March Comes In Like a Lion. You guys probably remember her various contributions to the Miura's work.

I noticed that during the video and thought it was pretty funny.

Musou tech at its best! :guts:

In all seriousness, I really like the look of this. My biggest concern is the character roster. We've got a BIG group of awesome, diverse fighters in the Berserk universe. So far, as far as I can tell, we can play as Guts, Casca, Judo, Wyald, Griffith, Zodd, Schierke, and Serpico. There are some real gems missing!

I'm curious who you guys would want to see added.

I've definitely warmed up to the show, now we're at 8 episodes.

Still, 4 episodes left and it still feels incredibly rushed with bizarre pacing.
