BERSERK Episode 379 will be published in Young Animal #4, slated to be released on Friday, February 14.

It will feature a color page. Additionally, an "important announcement" will take place, according to the magazine preview. Considering the phrasing, it seems to be good news.

This episode is part of the new serialization of Berserk that is being done without Kentarou Miura. It's based on some of the material he left behind as well as what he had told his close ones of the story over the years. Kouji Mori, his best friend and a fellow mangaka, writes and supervises the series while his former assistants draw it under the banner of Studio Gaga.

369: The island begins to sink. The elves vanish (except for Puck and Ivalera).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: This magazine is only in Japanese? I can't read Japanese, so why should I buy it?
A:
I can't read Japanese either. But if you want to follow along with the latest Berserk releases, getting this magazine is the only legal way to do it. Berserk's episodes run in these magazines months or years before they are collected into a volume. You can read our summaries on the forum and wait for our English text-based translations of each episode, available in a week or so after release.

Q: What do I need to set up an account on Hakusensha-E?
A:
A valid email address, a Chrome browser (or another browser with a built-in Japanese language translation), and a credit card. PayPal is not accepted at this time. Follow Aazealh's guide to learn more in-depth information on setting up an account.

Q: Purchasing requires my bank to do extra stuff because it's an international purchase. What do I do?
A:
This happens to many first-time customers to shops outside your country of origin. It's your bank flagging a new kind of transaction from a new country. To ensure that this transaction is valid, you may be asked for more information to verify your identity and your bank account. Afterward, this is an automatic process. If you have further questions, you can read VISA's guide on how this process works, or contact your bank.

After the last episode, I'm not looking forward to this one even more so than usual. The announcement has me intrigued, though. Fingers crossed it's for the exhibition merch finally being available to the rest of the world (not that I have the money for it right now :void:).

Bring out the predictions!

Mine:

- Rakshas will either kill the new Emperor or Silat will save him from death, setting Silat up to be essentially the leader of Kushan forces.
- Serpico, Isidro, and Farnese will save a few civilians from the Eastern trolls. The trolls won't kill anyone important.
- Molda will get involved
- The Gurus will hardly be featured at all
- Daiba might deal with the rampaging elephants, and will essentially explain what's going on to the reader
- If we're really lucky, a Godhand will show up, but I doubt it. I think it's more likely that Griffith's forces will appear outside down to invade while all this chaos happens.
- Someone will unlock Guts, but he'll be really sad about his sword and won't rise to the occasion and fight.
- If by some miracle Guts does gear up to fight, it will be totally out of the blue and without a good reason.
- Very little progression of plot will occur.

Here's the "big announcement": volume 43 will be released August 29, and there will also be a special edition with Zodd's bust. And, of course, the most important thing: TWO consecutive color pages!
Also, new episode out the 28th.

TWO consecutive color pages!
This was to mean that one intro color in this Friday's episode on the 14th and another intro color on the 28th.

If volume 43 is to be the same length as 42 (9 episodes), it would mean 2 more episodes before the volume release in addition to the 2 we're getting now.

So they have six months to publish at least three more episodes. Does it mean we're gonna get a bimonthly schedule? Or are they going to do this two consecutive episodes thing again because it gets more attention?

Like @AndroidLB said they just need to publish two more after the two we're getting in February, assuming the volume will have nine episodes. No need for a specific schedule.

Here's my usual summary.

The episode opens up with Puck and Isidro running away from the trolls. They end up in an alley where the creatures block their way, but they get saved by Azan, and then join him in the fight.
We now switch to Rakshas and Silat. They started fighting in the previous episode, but here they're just standing still where they were before. Daiba casts a spell that allows Silat to mentally communicate with every Kushan, giving some kind of pep talk. Yes, this is basically Sonia. Erica is there, in a very small panel in a very confusing page.
We now switch to Farnese, and she's somehow summoned the magic barrier, getting rid of some of the trolls. We don't see her performing the ritual, it just happens. Maybe it's implied that she did it... I hope. The Kushan, now inspired by Silat, pick up the weapons and start fighting the creatures. Daiba takes control of the elephants again (then how did he lose control of them in the first place?), trying to squish Rakshas. Silat tries to kill him, but instead just breaks his mask even more (I guess that he forgot what Rakshas told him about the face not always being under the mask). Rakshas immediatly wears his old mask again (the one that was cut in half in vol. 38) and runs away. The episode ends with Rakshas sensing Guts' brand (Guts senses him too... didn't they already show this in ep. 377?), and going to his cell. It seems like he was looking for him. Of course, Guts just looks at him, sweating profusely.

Sounds like we waited 6 months to have a treading water episode... I haven't seen it yet but talk about underwhelming...
