Games to look forward to!

I've been mulling over the idea of starting this thread for a while. Same as the movie thread only this time games we are anticipating to play!

Medal of Honor - http://www.medalofhonor.com/
Looking forward to this reboot of the series. I'm interested in what they're going to do with this game. From the looks of the trailers, the Ranger section of the game is going to have more direct fighting in it than the Tier 1, which is looking like it may be more stealth oriented. Hopefully this game plays out better then COD: Modern Warfare 2 which was a let down in the single player department.

Fallout New Vegas - http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/home/home.php
Loved Fallout 3 and looking forward to what they can do with this game. I don't know much about it, but easily this is the game I've been looking forward the most for the past few years. I'm liking how everything is being revamped because of the location move, new robots, new mutants and new enemies. I do hope they raise the level cap, anything higher then 50 would be nice.

Try to keep this spoiler free guys.

Hard Corps: Uprising

http://blogs.popzara.com/index.php/item/1539

Developed by Arc System Works, the way characters look and move about is more reminiscent of BlazBlue than of Contra. You can see that there are dashes, air-dashes and even a reversal of sorts! I must say it is fortunate that Konami decided to do a prequel for Hard Corps as it is one of the best and most overlooked titles in the series! In fact, Contra: Hard Corps for the Genesis is probably the best run'n'gun game ever made, rivaled only by Metal Slug 3!

Anyway, it looks beautiful and the life bar is, fortunately, not forced on the player (really now, a Contra game without a one-hit-kill :ganishka:) so that's my pick for the most anticipated!

Oh, and will keep an eye on Fallout: New Vegas too! I really liked New Reno from F2 and that location seems to be the main inspiration for this title. Hope they'll manage too make something that lives up to it!

But I'm also finally coming around to be willing to play a FPS again (I got tired of the overabundance of them a long time ago), and I'm willing to look into suggestions... particularly in the horror genre.

I'm probably stretching it a bit, but Fallout (has it's moments), F.E.A.R or S.T.A.L.K.E.R could be worth trying.

I'm guessing the main game it's self will have that, but I'm pretty sure hard mode will have have one hit kills back. Looks like it'll be fun!

I hope so too. From what they've said of the story so far, it'll be interesting to see. Also I really want to explore New Vegas. :troll:

Here's one I'm looking forward to, even though it probably fits more into the adventure genre: Amnesia: The Dark Descent

I guess Fall Out New Vegas is slated to come out October 19 (US) and October 22nd (UK) according to IGN. I look forward to returning to the wasteland. :carcus:

Watching the MS conference live feed, and well after having seen the new MGS: Rising trailer I have to say I'm definitely looking forward to it. Thing's pretty much a Skull Knight simulator. *SLICE* *CUT* *SLASH* :SK:

I'm sure it's all a joke and that footage consists of the first hour of the game. We'll be introduced to Gas Snake and play another rehash of MGS.

Here's some new Gears of War 3 footage

Hopefully the get the MP right this time. Third time's a charm?

MGS: Rising

My god. Who would've thought back when MGS2 was released that Raiden would get his own game? Ninja-MGS. (I remember saying when I was alot younger how cool a game would've been starring a Grey Fox like character.) Gore hounds rejoice. I wonder what a MGS game will be like without Kojima? You'll still have the ability to use firearms I hope. But I'll be damned if that sword action doesn't look cool. Alas...I'm more worried about a MGS game without Uncle Solid around. :(

I doubt this will be as 'bloated' a game as MGS4 was. By bloated I just mean the overall sheer length of in-game cinematics. Well, Kojima's producing and I hope his oversight means the retention of MGS style gameplay stays intact.

Oh, and I hope Harry Gregson Williams scores this one too. :azan:

Persona 5

Well, since i'm a huge fan (collector) of everything that's even remotely related to the SMT franchise i'm honestly shaking with anticipation for that one. Especially since i'm having major withdrawel issues after finishing Devil Survivor and Strange Journey a couple of weeks ago. I need my fix!^^

Starcraft 2

Hell, it's about time. So true.

Final Fantasy XIV

This game has been killing me for the last year.

The alpha for FF14 has already started, and gone public. I have a friend playing it on PC every couple of nights through Steam.

I don't personally see what's so exciting about another FF MMO, myself. Unless you were a die-hard FF11 fan.

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition comes out next week. I still don't dig the new art style, but this time you can switch to the old graphics while keeping the voice acting and orchestral music. One of the best SCUMM adventures.

Man, look at those graphics.

I'm totally into this. I absolutely adored Trine. That seems so far away, though. :judo: Judo is sad.
The graphics were so lush and detailed, a real beauty of a game...I can't imagine what the second one has in store.

I only hope it's a lot longer, and perhaps a little bit harder.
That was my only complaint about the last one.

Yeah, they're actually about to open up the beta.

As for what's exciting about it... yeah I'm a die-hard FF fan in general and FF11 kept me busy for about 6 years. That said, if they don't change some of the major problems with 11, I probably won't get too in to 14 (I just don't have the time I used to, something a little more casual or with more solo/low man content would be very welcome). One of the biggest draws for me with 11 was the job system and I look forward to seeing square's new implementation here. I always hated how other MMO's forced you in to one role and then you would have to make an entirely new character just to do something else.

At the moment it's:
Deus Ex 3 (after finally finding some early gameplay footage to watch, I'm even more excited for it :guts:)

Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joou
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEsJpRpn4Pg
It's like Tales of/Dark Chronicle/Ghibli film/game it's looking really good

Portal 2, even though portal will be hard to top some of the new abilities will make for some crazy puzzling

Brink as it looks like it's taken the first person free-running from mirrors edge and expanded upon it, though i don't know about the story but we shall see

Talking of story mafia 2 is looking really good too, loving that retro vibe

Scott Pilgrim a (four player) 2D side-scrolling beat 'em up! There's not enough local co-op these days and this one looks really good (plus scott pilgrim is awesome)

Even though it's waaay off I'm looking forward to Diablo 3 too, hopefully between then and now I'll get myself a PC that'll be able to run it! :puck:

In the trailer doesn't raiden have a gun on his back?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtM3PGyiQUc#t=1m17s

Even if there is gunplay I doubt many people are going to use it much, although you'll probably have to for a couple of boss fights or something

Also here's hoping for a unlockable Gray Fox costume :guts:

It comes out next week?! I've been looking all over for a solid release date, I'd better stock back up on XBL points :ganishka:

I saw that after my post. The gun play in MGS4 was fun, I hope Rising is just as enjoyable. I'm trying to imagine a story for Rising...I have 0 clue where they will go with this. That one picture of Boss or Snake is worrying.

I don't think you should be worrying about this franchise's story at this point. :iva:

I'm worried they're not going to live up to the beautiful storytelling tradition of MGS2.

Don't forget classical situation comedy at its finest, like slipping on seagull droppings or running around the enemy base buck naked.

That reminds me how Kojima stated that he wanted to break some long standing taboos for this project and now it seems like he was only refering to the slick slice'n'dice gameplay..or was he?

Yeah, that guard must have had a large stash of good beverages hidden away somewhere.

Also, let's not forget recurring easter eggs with posters and photos. Can't have a game without them.
