Parents now have another reason not to buy their screaming children an iPod. A recent "study" shows that teens who listen to "raunchy" music are more likely to experience porking than teens who listen to say... christian pop.

And with last year's introduction of the VIDEO iPods, it's clearly only a matter of time before porn is available on iTunes. AM I RITE?

Sadly, it's the poor, uneducated people that are responsible for all this procreating. So people who watch and listen to explicit and degrading things will rub off on them to a degree, big surprise. They make it sound so one dimentional though, saying music is the single major factor.

It's made out to sound like the bullet theory, where viewers (or listeners) of these kind of things had no control but to be subconsciously driven to do such things. Sounds alot more like it reinforces values and ideals they already surround themselves with through many other mediums in their lives.
In this case young people who have sex early probably lacked moral qualities to begin with for other reasons, and likely hang around people who do also.

I didn't listen to "sexually degrading" music as a kid, and I was raised with strong moral principles, but I would have had sex at 12 if the occasion had presented itself (sadly, it didn't). And I'm pretty sure it's the same for 99% of males everywhere in the world. Basically it sounds like bullshit to me (not even starting with the fact their study is retarded and the way it was conducted probably is too), or else it should only apply to girls.

And on the topic, don't be to quick to rip into a study without having actually read it. Studies such as this are often made to sound more dramatic than they are. I've read numerous journals of Psychology and Sociology; the research itself may be completely valid. Or it could be a pseudo study funded by a private interest. But just because a study points out a corelation doesn't mean they are claiming a causal relationship.

But seriously, this just another story about 'the media made me do it' syndrome.  In other words it's just an excuse for poor parenting and overall lack of morals, since it's easier to blame something else than for a parent or person to admit it's their fault.  Personally I know that I'm sick of hearing things about how violent songs, movies, tv shows, and video games make kids go on shooting sprees and the like.

Why don't they spend this research money... on helping the poor, or on scholarships for students that can't afford schooling/college. But I guess that would be completely stupid, because we need to know that out of the people they studied the ones listening to sexy songs on Ipods... were more likely to have sex. Man, what a great way to spend money
