I thought that was Tommy Chong at first lol.

The $1, and the lesser larceny charge that came with it, was a nice touch. People said I was crazy when I'd tell them this idea for "free" health care, well who looks crazy now!?

Certainly not this guy (photo aside). Looks like it all went according to his plan. Dude is like the Joker of healthcare.

And even that's understandable since, despite being according to plan, it's still appropriate to have a "WTF, is this really happening?" look in such a surreal situation.

I'm bummed I didn't do it first when I had the chance. :judo:

I'm not sure if this has been confirmed or not, but I heard it was DWI-related. Plus he was going 110 before they crashed, turning the car into a heap of Mecha-Godzilla defecation. If the DWI bit is true, I really have no remorse for this clown.

I know that people are saying "He had it coming"..

but still, people who grew up watching Jackass have the right to be sad for that man! He gave us good laughs and fond memories. If there was one thing to be mad about, it's that he took someone with him. So I guess these are definitely conflicting emotions coming from me :|

Indeed (sadly enough it seems most people don't care about that guy), and aside from that, his behavior was dangerous and would have eventually resulted in a tragedy. That's what people are condemning. If a drunk moron slammed his Porsche into your mom's car at 140 mph, instantly killing her and whoever she was driving with, how'd you feel? That's why some people say he had it coming.

New Cigarette Labels...

I heard about this last week. I don't think it'll change too many minds. After all, most people who smoke cigarettes know what they can do to you. It can't hurt, but I don't anticipate it helping that much, either.

It's kind of extreme, but somehow I have a hard time feeling sorry for cigarette companies...

Yeah, I don't feel bad for them either, it's still lip service and window dressing compared to the hold of a powerfully addictive and wholly destructive substance, which they're still making money off of even though it should be illegal by all rights if it wasn't grandfathered in by tradition and bribe money of varying legality.

Anyway, the Supreme Court rejected that violent video game ban, now we can play Kane & Lynch games forever!

Also, some of the quotes from this trial, the first time the Supreme court has addressed gaming, are fantastic:

'Singing penis' sets noise record for water insect

A tiny water boatman is the loudest animal on Earth relative to its body size, a study has revealed.

Scientists from France and Scotland recorded the aquatic animal "singing" at up to 99.2 decibels, the equivalent of listening to a loud orchestra play while sitting in the front row. The insect makes the sound by rubbing its penis against its abdomen in a process known as "stridulation".

Researchers say the song is a courtship display performed to attract a mate.

RIP Hightower

Bubba Smith, probably best known as Hightower in the Police Academy movies, died yesterday in his home at the age of 66. No cause of death has yet been named, but the results of his autopsy should be known late today or tomorrow.

When asked to comment Michael Winslow just made the Pac-Man dying noise. :(

"NASA researchers have found the building blocks of DNA, the genetic molecule that is essential to all life forms, in meteorites, pieces of space rock that have fallen to Earth. The discovery suggests that similar meteorites and comets may have impacted Earth and assisted in life formation here."

Great stuff. More clues as to how life began. It's also interesting how they found components on those meteorites that are very rare in biology (are only found in a virus).

A DISTRAUGHT mother listened on a mobile phone as her teenage daughter was eaten alive by a brown bear and its three cubs.

Olga Moskalyova, 19, gave an horrific hour-long running commentary on her own death in three separate calls as the wild animals killed her.

She screamed: “Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it’s such agony. Mum, help!’”

Her mother Tatiana said that at first thought she was joking. “But then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga’s voice, and the sounds of a bear growling and chewing.”

She added: “I could have died then and there from shock.”
....my god.

Thanks for ruining my nice dinner.

I genuinely feel bad for the mother.

It's believable in the context of the article; mother bear immobilizes the girl, leaves to to get her cubs and eat the girl's father over a lengthy attack/feeding, and the girl had her phone. It's not like she was attacked by bears and decided to liveblog it instead of fighting back or something.

That might actually be why he felt so strongly about it, though at the end of the video even he didn't seem that hardline about the policy (at the end of the day, he's going to sell the sandwiches).

Really? Who was he on the cycle, the new Hitler? The Cheesesteak Nazi? :ganishka:

I think the cycle of hatred's standards are going way down as we make progress (and subsequently become whinier, especially in this country where we just go insane over this shit). I can't believe this is a story, let alone that people think this guy was a hero or villain.

So, I guess his cheesesteak sandwiches were pretty good?
