Full Throttle Remastered - Picked it up for $5 on sale and got about halfway through playing one evening. Fond memories, but I'm trying to play less of my old favorites and more new titles or ones I never got around to.

Resident Evil 7 - Pretty cool, albeit small-scale, reinvention of the series that doesn't stray too far from its roots. Reminds me of Gone Home but with people and monsters in the house. It's no RE4, but along with it and RE2 this is definitely one of the few anyone should try whether they're fans of the franchise or not.

Super Mario 3D World - Never finished it, so I played a few worlds with my visiting sis in law and should wrap it up sooner or later.

Thimbleweed Park - Very authentic old school adventure game experience I was enjoying until the authentic experience of getting stuck.

Doom 2016 - Still fun as Hell!

Hollow Knight - Very stylish, fun, challenging and addictive game. Looking forward to more.

Zelda: Twilight Princess HD - Got it as a gift and so am playing it for the umpteenth time. For as frustratingly drawn out and derivative as it can be, I've also found it eminently playable. Fortunately, it's also been long enough since I played BotW that I'm not trying to climb everything and being disappointed.

Been going through my backlog this past week.

- Finished Metro 2033, which was Ok but didn't feel too original or particularly memorable. Nevertheless I'll get Last Light next time it's on sale.
- Barrelled through Strider, a nice little action/exploration sidescroller based on the classic Arcade game by Capcom. Was neat but somewhat lacking in charm.
- Currently playing The Mage's Tale by inXile Entertainment, a VR dungeon crawler set in the Bard's Tale universe. Having a blast with it, it's easily one of the best VR games out there.

Zelda, BotW DLC 1. My "hero's path" was pretty comprehensive. There weren't too many spots on the map that I completely overlooked, but I'm combing through them now. Boy, that desert section sure is ... barren. As much as this game utterly devoured my life when I was initially playing it, my mind hasn't returned to it ever since I put it down, which is very strange. I'm hoping the extra quests in the DLC will spur me to rediscover my love for the game. We'll see!

Nier: Automata. I just finished my first playthrough (Ending A of like, 26). Really not impressed. I've heard I have to experience at least two more endings before I GET IT. So uh, I guess I'll do that? Seems like a very poorly constructed game, to me.

Sounds cool! BTW, did you ever try Resident Evil 7 VR? I know you were concerned they just tacked it on so it wouldn't be a worthwhile experience (unless you're bulimic).

For what it's worth I spent 120 hours in that game the first month it was out... and less than two hours total since. I don't know why that is exactly. I think my interest plummetted when I started focusing exclusively on completing shrines. I could do a few at a time, but I'd still quickly get bored and lose interest, wheras if I was just fucking around on the surface with horses and shit the fun never stops. I think the problem is that the world is very stimulating in the moment and therefore hard to put down (like going to bed at 6am hard to put down), but once you complete the story and get to the bottom of it, there isn't anything much deeper there, something intellectually stimulating, to draw you back to revisit and make you get caught up in it again.

I'm glad to hear that, not that you had a bad time of it, but because everything I see of that game leaves me cold despite the rave reviews.

I wasn't impressed with it either when I completed Ending A. But people aren't lying when they say it takes the scenarios after that (to call them playthroughs is a bit of a misnomer) for the story to click. Of course, if the gameplay is leaving you cold, well, I can't say that's going to get better.

I think I'll be starting a round of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines soon. Always did want to try out a Tremere.

Picked up Gears of War 4 on sale a few months ago and just got around to playing it now. I've started to adopt the "patient gamer" mentality, waiting ~6+ months after a games release before buying it. Let the hype die down and look at a game for what it is, get it cheaper and sometimes with the DLC included.

I didn't think Nier: Automata was all too great and I got all the story endings. I thought parts of the world and some of the characters were interesting but I didn't like the gameplay itself, especially the combat. Some of the side quests were pretty silly, which was nice.

On the last tiny stretch of Fatal Frame 2. Been procrastinating on this game because the ending was so fucking depressing bleh. I'm having a hard time wanting to see it again but alas I will make it through.

Still taking a break from Persona 5 for a bit.

God of War binge continues... beat God of War 1. Forgot how much I loved this game. Used to feel a tad tedious to me but this time around really enjoyed it. Will probably start up Ghost of Sparta later today ~

Nope, I didn't play it yet precisely because I'm waiting to see if the VR mode comes to PC. Sony bought itself the exclusivity of that mode for PS4 and it was hinted to me at the time that it'd be for a year. If there's no news by March 2018 I'll just do it the normal way. And yeah actually the early reports were pretty critical of the VR implementation, but the actual mode is pretty great according to the reviews. Takes the game from pretty scary to shit-your-pants terrifying apparently.

I am greatly enjoying Hollow Knight. One of the best entries in the genre since the classics.
It's even got a little Berserk (and Dark Souls) reference, which is apparently courtesy of a Kickstarter backer for the game.

I have been going hard on bloodborne for the hundredth time. This time around I'm rocking a strength build. I got the whirligig saw super early and have been sawing fools in half with great joy.

^^ I too have been going hard on Bloodborne.

Just finished all the main story and DLC for the 4th time.

I have 4 more chalice dungeons to get through. I wanted to get through them last time but I burnt myself out and it was on my friends PS4 so I said fuck it. But holy shit I love this game more every time I play it. Headphones make it so much more amazing as well.

Still taking a break on Persona 5. I'll be going back to it soon but I binged way too much of it and reallly don't want the game to end.

Beat Fatal Frame 2 again. Going for the good ending again because the normal ending just kills me.

God of War binge continues.... end of Ghost of Sparta right now. The PSP God of War games are incredible for being on a handheld.

I've been playing through Dragon quest 8 on my 3ds, it's pretty good. I got the ability to fly now so the world has really opened up. So i'm basically at the point where I've really got to start farming more hardcore. Really close to 90 minimedals, got the casino running again, and running back through the other towns doing sidequests basically.

Finished up Horizon: Zero Dawn today. Absolutely loved the story and gameplay.

Started Bloodborne, and already have died about 100 times.

Taking a short break from Bloodborne. I'm doing all the chalice dungeons, which for the most part I really enjoy (they're a lot more fun when you split them up during the story instead of attempting to do them all). I beat all the main story bosses and the DLC. But I'm on the fucking defiled chalice and stuck on Amygdala. Which kinda pisses me off because I did beat her last time I did the defiled chalice.

For the most part I don't find Amygdala to be <that> cheap. But on the defiled she has so many goddamn ways to one shot me out of nowhere (especially that leaping move) that it just feels infuriating and cheap. The amount of times I almost killed her just for a sudden one shot death has been ridiculous. I don't think I had this much trouble with any of the bosses in Dark Souls 1 or Demon's Souls. When I feel less Bloodborned-out I will murder the shit out of her.

So I went back to Persona 5 and beat the fifth palace dungeon. Shit's getting real in this game now (yay).

Also finished off God of War: Ghost of Sparta and started God of War 2.

Ah, you're like me and you play the GoW games in chronological order every time you play 'em, hehe. Also! As for Amygdala, you can pretty easily bait her leaping move by sticking next to her legs. And while her legs and tail have some ridiculous armor, you can eventually wound them just like any other body part on the large bosses.
