Sum uh my comic

So I started working on this months ago, haven't had the energy to finish much else, page three is in the works, this is page one and two, last panel in two might be redone.

My contact info is on there because I printed these out and gave a few to people at come comics convention, but I don't mind if you guys steal my info and email me death threats and fake porn sites.

Wow dude! Really amazing pencil work you've created here. I'm very impressed. It sort of reminds me of Charles Vess' style, only with less fou-fou character design. Not only that, it's effective as a comic too. Hoping to see more :ubik:

Feel the funk blast
Very impressive! I can see why it would take a lot of energy, it looks like you've got tons of detail packed into just a few panels. I hope you'll be able to post the third page soon, I'm eager to see what happens. :casca:

@Walter - Thanks man! That's all actually pen, I'm avoiding using tones because even though it's in a manga style, I want to steer away from the mainstream, and I don't have enough style to rely on :)
@Grail - I'm in the middle of doing page 3 a million times over. I started this project and swore to disavow mediocrity without realizing that I am in fact relatively mediocre!

It's very very nice. Quite obvious you put a lot of effort into it, too. I would say that the style reminds me more of classic European illustrations than of manga, but I can't deny the upper right panel on page 2 has a certain Osamu Tezuka feel to it. In any case please do persevere on this project and post more pages as they come along.

@DarkLink - Hopefully you will, I'm going to be working on a few fonts to use for this project in the next few days, and then I've got to move, but once settled I hope I can get the ball rolling again.
@Aazealh - Thanks! I was hoping some of my love for Durer and Dore would seep through on this, not like I'd want to try to live up to those guys in a million years though!
@Gobolatula - I've been trying to think of a way to materialize the monster in a scene that's coming up. I hope it turns out decent.
@Proj2501 - Thanks!!

Oh, wow! That is impressive work! I absolutely love the detail and style. Just... Wow. While the people themselves are kind of plain without the same amount of detail, in this case I don't think that's a detracting factor at all. It brings them out, but not in a cruddy way.

Amazing. :)
If you don't go far with this, I will lose faith in humanity.

Awesome stuff, I like the design aspects a lot. Panel 3 on page 2 is especially effective at creating depth. I would recommend using a more professional comic font from Blambot.com though.

@HeavyWeather - haha wow I appreciate the kind words!!
@CCS - That third panel is supposed to be the same visual effect as using a camera with flash in the woods at night. I know the character doesn't have a camera with flash, but I thought it'd be fun to do and convey the depth of the forest a lot more effectively. Thanks!

@Bekul - Thumbnail > Pencil > Pen > Scan > Layout
I tried to keep it as simple as possible.
@CSS - I forgot earlier to say that I plan on making my own font. I did for another comic that I worked on for a while and it was fun!

Cool, that's the way to do it if you're being really professional. :ubik:

@Oburi - haha I'm glad someone likes the title. I've gone back and forth on a lot of ideas, and although I like Akkadia, I feel like there's a million jrpg's that I don't know about at all that already share that title.
@CCS - Heheheh I don't know about professional. I just want it to be as much MINE as I can make it.

Wow, badass! I especially like your detailed backgrounds. You should totally keep doing this, man! :guts:

I'll be honest and agree with you about the name though: it's cool but sounds... I don't know, familiar?

ALL MYSTERIES MUST BE SOLVED
This is really fantastic. I love the way you use inks, it looks great. : D very pleasing to the eye. I also agree with Az; at first glance this really reminded me of a european/romantic art style. Maybe some kind of fancy english advertisement where they hired a great illustrator to do a rendition of a normal family or somesuch. Your clothing choice also lends to this mood. Would love to see more of this! : O
