Do you have any closer pics of this kit?
I would love to know how the face looks.

Nope, didn't look around for the maker's website. As far as I can tell the face seems mostly faithful to what Miura's style was at the time.

I have this kit actually. I believe it's quite old.

Doesn't surprise me given the style. But this begs the question of why you never got it painted. Just so you know, the only acceptable excuse is that you're waiting for an appropriately huge Slug Count kit to go with it.

Hahah, well, I guess it's just a matter of time really. I try not to have too many Guts kits painted in a row because John gets a little tired of doing too many Guts in one year. I still have over a dozen Guts kits needing to be painted. :beast:

You are my friend and I feel guilty that I am wishing physical harm upon you.

New Irvine kit by Tonboya (in his apostle form). It's pretty much the same pose than AOW's statue, but it looks a lot better to me. Height is 25 cm, length is 30 cm (including the tail). Priced at ¥15800.

And here's an auction for one, ending in 19 hours: http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g88160694

Tonboya did an excellent work with this one and I have to agree with you, it looks way better than the AOW version, not to mention the bigger scale.

Why is he better? Those shots are pretty wide. Are there more pics available somewhere else? I'd like to make a comparison before buying a second similar piece.

Just look at the auction pictures and compare it with the one from AOW, you will clearly see the difference.
His fur and the rest is more detailed, you may say that it's normal since it's a bigger scale but he is better, no doubt about it.

Just check Tonboya's website or the auction and compare, like The Beast of Darkness said. I think a lot of the details look better: the face (did I even need to say it?), the fur, the paws, the paint job, etc.

It's a happy time for Berserk kits these days. I am also a fan of the Tonboya Irvine Kit. So far, he's released 3 Berserk kits (Zodd Apostle, Guts, and now this Irvine). I actually had my contact go to WF2010 this past weekend and I specifically asked him to get this Irvine kit, as I have been following Tonboya's blog, but my contact said that Tonboya sold out of his Irvine stock quite fast. I was totally bummed. It was sold for 16,000 yen at the convention, but seems to be going for over 30,000 yen on YJA. I'm tempted to bid on them on YJA, but I should be patient and wait til the next convention. Be strong, Derek!

Aside from that one, Resin Range (Renji) released a new Locus Kit, that's pretty nice. Here's one auction for it: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m79752021

This is actually a step up from his previous works, in my opinion. Well, I liked his Birdman Torture Executioner kit, but I think this is his best one. He seems to be pretty tall too. I managed to pick one up of this one, but haven't received it on hand just yet.

Headlong's gotta some new kits coming out soon too! I can't divulge that information just yet, but I'm pretty stoked!

Hooray for kits!!! :guts:

I was hoping for more detailed shots.

Talking about the paint doesn't make much sense though since this is a kit.

Did you enlarge those on the official site? They show a good deal.

Right, though anything would be better than what AOW did on its Irvine.

YO! WF 2011 is right around the corner. Check out these cool new kits!!!

Headlong's Guts Bust. This is the BEST likeness of Guts in my opinion. Headlong is THE MAN.

And Tonboya with a new Slan kit (although I can't tell if it will be done by WF).
