Marvel vs Capcom 3

I always thought a tier system like they had in Capcom vs. SNK, only character specific, would be perfect for the MVC franchise. Godlike characters like Thor or Dormammu could be on a much higher tier than "mortal" characters who could inhabit the first few.

I was always a HUGE fan of the MVC series as it is, though. This definitely looks great!

I don't get it. They had Frank West's silhouette at the very beginning. What the hell's taking them so long to show him off?

And DLC characters have been confirmed. Going with the SE version of MvC3 nets you Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. Jill appears to be in her battle gear from RE5.:

Excited about Storm. I think they have like 8 more characters to reveal? Plus DLC? This game is nuts. Holding out for Pheonix Wright and Haggar. I'll buy two if either of them make it in.

Phoenix Wright's been deconfirmed quite a bit. They struggled with his concept in TvC. He would have fit very well in that but most devs agreed his moveset was problematic (Briefcase attack+objection?....) so more than likely combined with the deconfirm, PW just isn't much of a fighter.

Haggar is pretty much all but confirmed. Screen leaked with him and a bit of a blue "helmet" in the background (perhaps Megaman)

There's a leaked roster that so far has been accurate (She Hulk, C. Viper, Zero, and Frank West is almost certainly confirmed). Haggar and classic mega are among them.

what makes the list speculative, Howard the Duck.

I'm a bit disappointed with this roster of characters. Call me nostalgic, but I'd still like to see some of the old cast (Stryder for instance). Someone here even mentioned Onimusha characters. I guess, I was expecting a wider variety on both sides. But I'm still hoping.

Apparently one particular leak list has been correct so far, which means the last two characters will be Sentinel and Hisen Ko with Galactus as the final boss.

I'm pretty excited about the starting roster for Carpel Tunnel Syndrome 3. I also hope we get some good dlc ala stryder, Ken/M.Bison, captain commando, Juggernaut, cyclops/gambit, and venom/blackheart.

Agreed. Perhaps it's nostalgia, but I want to see the old crew from MvC 2 included on this one. Doesn't seem like they are keeping any characters "secret" for the release as it's been mentioned in the internet... Or interviews for that matter.

I really want Strider in the game as well, but i think that roster has made it clear that they don't want any clone characters. Strider and Dante are too alike, that goes as well for Ken/Ryu, Jaggernaut/Hulk and Blackheart/Dormmamu.

Perpaps I need to go back and look at Dormmamu again, I didn't think he looked to play like blackheart at all.

Out of all those Character I think that perhaps Ken, is the biggest clone which is why I put a /M.Bison next to him. Bison had a pretty unique moveset in MVC2 although he might actually be a lot like phoenix in some of his supers and projectiles..

I definately think Strider can be made unique enough to exist, but in the mean time Dante will probably fill his role. Also, I think they can come up with another Marvel Heavy (aka Juggernaut, who isn't a complete hulk clone)... but then again I'm no game designer.

Also I can't forget that Sentinel is 99% likely to be announced in the next 2 weeks, and he might be the Marvel heavy I am asking for.

Hardly, Dante has so much more going for him than any character in the game from a moveset perspective. Clone characters in fighting games are called clones because they share moves and or animations with different parameters/properties. Dante and Strider do not fit into this category. Now if you said Akuma and Ryu then you'd be standing on stronger ground. Though from videos it would apppear that Akuma appears to be a beast compared to Ryu, though to balance that Akuma probably takes damage like a little girl like in all SF games.

Yes, I was thinking about this some more and I think if anything, deadpool is probably the closest to strider while still not being a clone of strider.

My biggest beef with this game is the fact that the devs complain about all the time it takes to create and balance characters (this is from a purely objective standpoint), but in theory most of the design was taken care of for them in the 2nd game. The characters and their movesets exist, they just have to be translated into the next generation. I understand if some characters don't make it, but roughly 30 is inexcusable, especially when most of the new ones are from relatively new IPs. I don't know what happened to this game, but I dont think Ryota Niitsuma and his TvC crew were the right choice to bring this franchise back to life.

Hell yeah! Sentinel is badass. I hope they release Venom as DLC at some point. Excitement for this + Portal 2 at max.

I personally love the characters they've chosen (for the most part) I think it's a really fun roster.

Yeah, I agree. Between MVC 2 and MVC 3 there is a great varity of characters, and the DLC character is a huge plus. They can add anyone at anytime. Just having that possibility is huge. :void:
