The guy must have appeared to be suffering from narcolepsy after he cast a few Lv. 1 spells as well. "Gotta rest for the night, so I can reuse Chill Touch!"

:ganishka: True story:

Back in 2009, I played a (normal, not videogame) D&D session with some strangers... friends of friends mostly. We had just cleared a gnoll encampment, when I stumbled upon a cool piece of armor.

"Hold", said a guy named John, who was so into roleplaying that he wouldn't speak a word out of character, and wouldn't respond to any of us if we didn't call him Eldebryn. "I can enchant that for you, Brandis." (Brandis was my character's name)

"Thanks!" I replied. He then proceeded to describe the enchanting ritual in excruciating detail for a couple of minutes, and then suddenly he stopped talking.
We waited for a while in awkward silence; then I asked "Is it over?"

He gave me a look like I had insulted him in the most horrific way, and said naturally "Um... This ritual lasts for an hour". We all looked at him. "So?"
"So", he said, "we have to wait a full hour". Long story short, I haven't played D&D in 3 years now. :guts:

Yeah, there are some players and DMs who completely ruin the game. I’m a bit surprised your DM allowed that. You just have to kick them out and move on. It sucks but sometimes you have to be a bit heartless and get rid of somebody or else they can ruin the experience for everyone.

There are some personalities that make D&D unbearable. The player who wants to intentionally ruin the fun for the other players and/or DM. The DM who wants to railroad the game, refusing to let the players do anything except what he already predetermined would happen. The DM who also plays a player character and makes the game all about that character, turning the other players into nothing more than props. My personal boogeyman is the people who take the game or story so seriously that the game feel less like entertainment and more like work.

But if you get a creative, laidback DM with a good group of players a game of D&D can be one of the best experiences out there.

Hahhah, well that's something I certainly see him doing. All in all, he was a pretty memorable guy.

Exactly. The funny thing is that even the Player's Handbook itself warns about these kinds of players that you speak of. It even catalogues them in pretty similar categories as you did :guts: As for the group, they eventually grew tired of him too, not long after I had left. I learned afterwards that the DM made up some ridiculous excuse to kick him out of the game - something along the lines of conjuring up a cow which fell from the sky and squashed him, killing him... and just like that, Eldebryn was no more. He was so mad he quit the group after that. A memorable guy indeed!

D&D surrealism aside, there is a very promising new indie project in the making called Xenonauts which is a re-imagining of the old UFO: Enemy Unknown and X-COM: Terror from the Deep games. I've spent hundreds of hours playing those two back in the day (still do, actually..played some TFTD yesterday), so to those of you who are interested I'm telling you... these guys are the real deal. The game is still in alpha stage but it's already pretty awesome. Its community is growing quickly and it's handled very professionally. Heck, they even have a guy on board to write a novella to enrich the story. You can check it out here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/69341191/xenonauts and here http://www.xenonauts.com/ if you like.

Looks much better that the "official" new, almost cartoony IMHO, X-COM: Enemy Unknown that is coming out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uHHmTSDCvA

I've got to agree, it's all about who you're playing with.

Gotta post the JoJo game here too of course, it's coming out "sometime next year." :guts:

Can't wait to import this because having characters/abilities named after copyrighted music doesn't usually sit well over here. At least the PS3 is region-free. I hope some of you guys try this game out though, even if you don't like the series the Capcom fighter was really good and this looks like it'll be really fun.

I have some great memories of the Capcom game for Dreamcast. That was a great system when it came to fighters... my arcade sticks were worth every penny. Looking forward to this new JoJo, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

That's pretty great news, Branded. I love those earlier VS. games. It got too crazy for me later in the series... :magni:

Not surprising at all : Resident Evil Revelations Unveiled Edition for PS3/360/WiiU/PC (24.5.2013).
And now, the only game I still want to play on 3DS is Castlevania : MoF.

Looking good. I still need to play more of the first Xenoblade though... Started it but didn't go very far. Too many games, too little time!

Yeah, same thing happened to me. I really liked the look of the game and it seemed like I'd enjoy it a lot but I didn't play too far. The trailer for the second one renewed my interest in it though. Also there's a new Fire Emblem title that's a cross over with Shin Megami Tensei:

I'm interested in seeing how this turns out since I really like the Persona series, Devil Summoner, and SMT: Nocturne.

Ditto. I will say this though; I've listened to the soundtrack probably 15 times. For a game I've only played a few hours of, the music is freakin' fantastic.
