Mass Effect 3 [Spoilers]

Aphasia

ALL MYSTERIES MUST BE SOLVED
Damn...I really need to play this series so I don't miss out! Gah! Why are there so many good games? I still need to play fallout, too.

Well, I'll need something to hold me over until I get my hands on TES V. :slan:

Mass Effect just got bumped up to #1 on my backlog of games. No really. I just ordered it for the box. Yay!

So I just finished my third playthrough of both games. This time I was a Femshep and tried to complete everything possible, including the DLC I'd never done before. (Overloard was AMAZING :ubik:)

Something's starting to really worry me about this series though: ME2 seemed to be a bit too human-centric. After all the epic-ness of saving the galaxy in ME1, suddenly our species is the most important one. And what worries me most of all is:
The Reapers seem to agree. I hate to admit it, but I really, really don't like the direction the antagonists are taking. They've gone from the cold and calculating machines they're supposed to be, to a typical villain with a grudge. I understand the rationale that Shepard has drawn their attention and so Harbinger believes it necessary to take care of Earth first. I still don't like it. I do enjoy Mass Effect 2; I'm just worried it started a plot trend that ME3 will take even further.

I'm installing Mass Effect right now, but just know that...

fuck Fallout

...now my mind has been poisoned against it and I'm going to be judging it by ridiculously harsh, unfair standards. :griffnotevil:

BTW, that video wasn't so impressive. :azan:

That's better, though it's depressing that Fallout 3 is now the definition of what the "Fallout" series is. Damn you, Bethesda!

Do you do much work for other outlets like computer games? Mike Patton, for example, has most recently voiced The Darkness.

Clint Mansell: I'm doing a video game this year actually. Mass Effect 3.

Whoa!

No shit. Nice find Eluvei! Honestly I don't know what to think. As much as I love this guy's soundtracks (and I do) the first thing I think is "what about the other guy"? You know Jack Wall, the composer who is already established in the Mass Effect world of music.
On the other hand, the one thing that has always stuck out in an Aronofsky film is the brilliant music. Very atmospheric. The thought of playing Mass Effect with the soundtrack to the Fountain gives me goosebumps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihF_aXi-Huk).

I've never been more on the fence about something. Unless they are working together?

Edit- nevermind, Jack Wall is gone I guess.

It seems Jack Wall is not working on ME3. He posted in BioWare's forum about it, and another ME2 composer that also posts there confirmed it's him: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/5987442/

Dear People Who Love Mass Effect -
So...maybe it's time to actually say something?

Working on the Mass Effect series was epic. It was mind-bending, soul-coughing, astral-plane traveling delicious loveliness - all the way. The games themselves are works of art. I wouldn't change one note of it that myself, Sam, David, Richard or Jimmy wrote. As you may have noticed by now, I am not returning to score the final game. The reasons are much too complicated to explain here, but suffice to say that the people at BioWare and I are still friends and we all really still like each other a lot. More importantly, the score for ME3 will be great and even more important than that, the game will liikely be (being BioWare and all) super duper fantastic.
Clint Mansell is cool. Enjoy.
Oh and thanks to everyone for the kind words here and over the years. For those of you who didn't say nice things, that's cool too. I'm still searching for the perfect chord. If you guys see it laying around, let me know, ok?
See you in another game in another crazy universe!

-Jack

Moon's soundtrack is great as well. I'm just hoping he can work with synth sounds and such to make ME3 sound like Mass Effect.

Really digging this :guts:

This is fantastic news as far as I'm concerned. I absolutely loved what Jack Wall did with Mass Effect's music. He grounded the series from the beginning, and helped achieve that thematic quality. But it sounds like BioWare is going all out in ME3 by hiring Clint Mansell. His music made The Fountain memorable in spite of all the other shit in that movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91GcPnjrGdE&t=6m38s I also loved what he did with the Pi soundtrack.

This has the potential to be something truly awesome.

Not excited about this. I'm sure Clint Mansell will do a good job, but like Eluvei I'm preoccupied about "music continuity".

There's no doubt in my mind that ME3 will carry over some of the themes from the earlier games. Upon reflection, there is a tinge of regret to how I feel over all this, because it seems a little unfair to Wall. After having worked so hard on the previous two games, he's just pushed out the door for the climactic conclusion to the series he helped popularize.

PS: Kind of how I'd like to push Kaidan out the airlock of the Normandy one day.

I really wish they had gone for making a collaboration between both of the artists, instead of just blowing off Wall.

This is how I felt about all three of the love interests in the first game. :azan:

Yo dude, I don't want any trouble. :isidro:
Hey no worries. But before you leave, I wanted to see if you could check out the cargo bay in the Normandy. Yeah we've been having some troubles with the air compressor in there. ... Yeah you're real close. Just a little more to the left. ... Little more. Now, if you could cross your arms for me- that's great. Great!

Pfff, "musical continuity?" That's not why, you know the real reason why...

I already have, but with a quartet of Krogan balls attached:

A surprisingly similar progression in there, actually. I see, Mansell steals Wall's music, then steals his job! :carcus:

Random MA3 speculation. Does anyone think they will explain in detail why the reapers do what they do or how they were created? I'm curious, but at the same time I like the mystery and kinda sorta don't want Bioware to explain the reapers at great length in MA3.

Yeah, I had enough of that in ME2 and didn't like what they had to say; less is more, especially if there really isn't more.

BTW, what's with "MA"? Are you playing the Infinitive Edition? :carcus:

What the hell is wrong with me. No seriously, I always switch letters for no reason.

Anyway I was pissed after I replayed Mass effect 1 only to find that my mass effect 2 disc was unreadable. Thing is, it's not even scratched up, I read that it was possibly because of a corrupt save. I knew something like this was going to happen to me. Any advice?
