So, I've been getting back into music in a lot of different ways. I recently got a new MIDI setup.

ALSO, I've been teaching myself how to DJ. I made this one for you guys. A non-stop 30 minute Susumu Hirasawa mix. Let me know what you think:

This is perfect for when you're hanging out with your Japanese synth pop aficionado friends.

Feel the funk blast
I liked that you tossed in a few songs that weren't necessarily well-known (Or at least ones I definitely haven't heard before). I'm no music expert, but the whole thing sounded pretty smooth to me!

PS: Do you do bar mitzvahs? :guts:

This is exciting! I'm listening to it right now. I know zero about mixing. What exactly did putting this track together entail? I'm curious.

Anyways, it's pretty great so far. It's hard to go wrong with Hirasawa.

Haha, I think I can count those on one hand.

I really dig this. Weird, I was just going through my Susumu collection last week. This was a fun remix/refresher.

I use this software called DeckaDance, mainly. It's pretty nifty. Ontop of that, I got a program called MixMeister BPM Analyzer to scan all the songs en masse to detect their beats per minute.

On DeckaDance, there's 2 decks to load songs.

1. I'll start off with some random song I like
2. I'll take note of the BPM of the song
3. I'll go down the list of other songs WHILE the song is playing
4. I'll find another GOOD song that's *close to* the BPM of the first song
5. I'll sync the BPM of the second song slightly to match the first song
6. I'll wait till the first song is almost over
7. I'll push play on the second song, making sure it comes in on the right beat
8. I'll then fade the first song into the second
9. Repeat
10. ????
11. Profit
12. Spend all my money on tacos
13. Die of taco disease

Not Taco Disease! That's a terrible way to go. :judo:

That's more involved than I thought! Very interesting...Would love to see more awesome content in the future. Good work Gobs. :daiba:

I downloaded Ableton Live after watching this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTx3G6h2xyA

It's a lot of fun. I made this crappy mix as kind of a practice thing. It's hard to harmonize all these different loops. Here's what I made:
http://www.erikthejuiceman.com/closetoheadlikeamoonsongfallenangelwhatever.mp3

Samples used:
-Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole
-The Cure - Close to Me
-Cave Story OST - Moonsong
-Panty & Stocking OST - Fallen Angel

Also clips from:
-Reservoir Dogs
-Tim & Erik Awesome Show Great Job

EDIT: Changed the link to an instrumental version. Vocals to come later.

"Bring the light of day"
That youtube demo you posted is VERY impressive. I had the chance to mess around with it for a couple of hours and I am opting to get one when possible. That guy must've spent if not days, weeks to arrange all those samples. I'm digging your material Gob, and I am aware of everything that goes when testing and getting acquainted with these things. Limitless possibilities with these programs now a days. Looking forward to hear your development.

Thanks! Yeah I'm probably gonna make a version of that song with some actual vocals from different songs instead of movie clips. Now that I listen to it again, the vocals really are irritating.

EDIT: I've replaced the link to my song with a new version without the vocal clips.

EDIT EDIT: I made a clip of the same song with vocals from "Suck My Kiss" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, as an experiment:
