Wow, this is the first footage that gives us a genuine impression on how it'll be directed and edited. Honestly it looks quite a bit better than I'd anticipated. I like the music already, too.

They use an interesting technique in the third link, around 0:40. They actively change the angle as if there's an actual camera there. The "camera" swoops up to a higher angle, instead of cutting. They're really hitting that cinematic note pretty hard. It was a little jarring to me, but I like it. Don't look at it too hard though, or you'll begin to see the flaws with using a three-dimensional technique like that with two-dimensional backdrops.

I agree, I was impressed with the voice acting and enjoyed the animation, despite some awkward looking expressions every now and then (particularly from Guts in video no. 2). Overall, I'm pleased with what I see, aside from the fact that they moved Guts' and Casca's conversation to a completely different location, but we've known about that for a while.

I wish video no. 3 kept going so we could see whether or not their conversation continued as it does in the manga. :guts:

Casca show up for a split second in the guts video, although she doesn't seem to be wearing her armor like in the manga. Just an observation.

Awesome. From an animation perspective there's a bit I could criticize in those bits, but from a staging perspective it all looks great. Except for that abnormally large feather that's there for some reason. But I'm very excited.

They might show Gambino later. You'd think they would him or his seiyuu before Guts,Griffith , and Casca?

He's not in the list, whereas Charlotte, Julius and even Gaston are. That's what people are commenting about.

Welcome back Casca
Maybe Gambino will just get an average obscure seiyuu or someone from set? Like how they don't list of course who does the screams casual talk of unnamed Hawk members. Just a guess...if its the case, then it's not assuring but I would trust any of their decisions from what I see so far.

That still begs the question why someone like Gaston gets a picture and description, but not Gambino.

Found this "Behind the Scenes" information through a japanese forum: http://cgworld.jp/feature/making/berserk01.html

Shows off a few new shots that I don't think we've seen yet.

In my opinion, the marketing guys really should have put their best foot forward, and shown off these high quality images as the FIRST things we saw of this project. Instead what we got were shitty, low resolution images.

There's a bunch of interesting stuff about the production here. Not all of which is flattering:

What really caught my eye though was this shot from inside the modeling program, that shows an array of other character models, including an apostle from just before the Eclipse (named a "freak"), and Griffith, just before the Beherit activates.

I really hope they touch up 0:26-0:37 in the first video. There's nothing more jarring then super blurry followed by super clear.

I wouldn't assume anything we're seeing at this point is a final cut.

"Even if the movie sucks, we'll always have the manga."

...Or will we?

Coming to you soon, the new and improved Berserk! Now with less Black Swordsman/childhood! :iva:

Six "MyBestRemix" volumes will be released in quick succession, starting on January 24 for the first two and ending on February 21 for the sixth one. They'll cost 650円 each and the first three of them will be bundled with a voucher for the movie.

For a minute there, I was pretty worried. Even though it's a little lame, it looks to be just a pair of special edition volumes to coincide with the film...

Whether they will stay that way though, I couldn't predict.
