Will you be voting this year?

You're not the one that should be ashamed. It's amazing how many quotes you'd think would be Mr. Burns are actually Romney. :ganishka:

I think it's number 7 that is the most disgusting of them all. I don't know how anyone can vote for a guy that had the audacity to say something like that.

Number 6 was the most insane in my opinion. You see, when you were all boycotting Dark Horse over the FX boxes, you were actually committing homicide.

I saw this before, and I'm pretty sure it was made thanks to Ron Paul.

I was basing my post off of the comments of any youtube video with Ron Paul. I did not know of this movie. Crazy conspiracy theories aside, that was actually pretty entertaining. Hartman looks exactly like Daniel McBride.

A Freudian slip.

So being a night owl means I pretty much never see political ads. All we get are ads for phone sex hotlines, erection pills, and cheap defense lawyers. I guess the candidates don't pay to have their ads ran at two o'clock in the morning because . . . well . . . they probably don't want to be associated with the kind of people who are up at two o'clock in the morning here. But for the last two weeks I've had to face my eternal nemesis, the sun, and stay up during the daytime. This has exposed me to the wonderful conservative political ads here. I figured I'd share some with you guys. Now I hope you guys find some of these amusing. But if nothing else I hope you'll understand what "reality" looks like here (at least the conservative here) so you won’t be quite so surprised when your child's history book from Texas includes Satan burying fake dinosaur bones to deceive the believers.

Roland Sledge's Electric Fences ad is probably my favorite because he includes everything you could ever want in a political ad for a Texas Railroad Commission candidate. He starts off with a completely relevant Will Rogers quote. He includes superb audio quality. And most importantly he goes after the one person anyone who wants to run for the office that regulates Texas’ oil and gas industries would target. That’s right. Illinois’ former governor Rod Blagojevich. That’s what we in the business like to call a slam dunk. (Oh, and note the Sam Elliot cameo at the end.)

This ad is another one from Sledge called “Pig Latin.” While the ad itself isn’t that interesting, I just wanted to note that every time the actor says “Pig Latin” they show a dancing pig wearing a sombrero. For those who don’t know, Pig Latin is the official language of Mexico which is part of Pig Latin America.

Finally, there’s Warren Chisum’s Conservative Values ad which may be the manliest political ad I’ve ever seen in my life. If this doesn’t put hair on your chest nothing will. Oh and note that when it talks about how Chisum “stood up for our values and fought the Liberals in Austin” he aims and fires a shotgun. Chisum is as subtle as he is wise.

So how about you guys? Have you guys seen any local political ads recently that are as goofy as these?

And I apologize for putting this in the “are you going to vote?” thread. I just felt like this wasn’t worth a thread of its own. And this is pretty much the only political thread we have going.

Is being a railroad commissioner a big deal? Because that ad seems a tad overkill for that position. We don't have this sort of stuff where I live, but these are bad enough that I almost wish we did.

Nah, it's a relatively meaningless position. Pretty much any power the position once held was long ago either taken by OPEC or the federal government.

The confrontational nature of the ads is what gets me the most considering how meaningless the position is. "I'm not afraid of Austin Liberals!" "Obama is destroying America, but I'll defeat him . . By loosely regulating how much oil Texas companies are allowed to produce!" :ganishka:

It's sad the choices America has rather mandate candidate 1 or 2.
Let me give a low down on the top 3 contributors on their presidential campaigns. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres12/contriball.php?cycle=2012

Obama

University of California
Microsoft Corp
Google Inc

Microsoft Corp, Bill Gates who has 500,000 shares of the coporation Monsantos. Which everyone should know here that old CEOs, Vice presidents etc. of coporations lobby to get into congress. When Monsantos has been proven by numerous scientific studies that GMOs, pesticides are harmful to everything and everyone. They can get away with it though since they are in the FDA.

Romney

Goldman Sachs
Bank of America
JPMorgan Chase & Co

Or the banks, banks that print out more and more money. To devalue the dollar. I honestly think the bankers would rather you pick Romney and he will probably end up winning.

I was rooting for Ron Paul, of course it didn't happen. An actual candidate that wanted to look at the real problems gets snubbed aside. I wish more Americans would wake up, instead of focusing on the dinosaur media that pumps out crap to keep everyone preoccupied.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, that has a publicly stated interest among other things in fighting hunger around the globe (whether genetically modified crops are the right way to go about that, or whether Monsanto is being ethical in how they modified their crops is another matter altogether), has shares in that company. Bill Gates himself doesn't, and he doesn't operate that foundation alone. Furthermore, he's no longer active at Microsoft (hasn't been for years), so to link the two events is very far-fetched.

You can't be serious. Banks aren't exactly working towards the betterment of the average citizen's life, but this is like a parody of the issue.

Yes but it is proven that genetically modified crops are more harm then they are good. Organ failure, infertility, liesions in the stomach, this is just a few examples. If I know about this information, then someone who invested in that coporation knows about all the side effects as well.
Look at there revenue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto

There is numerous Monsantos documentaries out there and studies. Please watch this one it is called Scientists under attack. I encourage everyone to watch it.

As for banks, I think you need a refreshment of history. I encourage everyone to watch this one as well. It is entertaining and informative.

This is why I supported Ron Paul, End the FED and restore the consituation. The real problems.

And no food has been proven to kill you much quicker. I understand the concern with giving people safe food, but when you're dying from famine your only real concern is living (whether that is genetically modified food or not, but keep in mind good clean food is a luxury to places that don't have it readily available).

As for banks, I think you need a refreshment of history. I encourage everyone to watch this one as well. It is entertaining and informative.

Libertarian rhetoric, but I do love how a biased cartoon is where you're getting your history lesson on banks.

All of these points you've brought up are very true and very real threats. I live in Portland,Oregon and currently we are the only major American city that doesn't use fluoride in our water. But despise numerous major studies by university's and creatable groups, the city has passed a resolution(without a public vote) to put fluoride in our water. All the while, the local news is gushing over how healthy fluoride is. This is a fantastic documentary by award-winning journalist Christopher Bryson that exposes fluoride for what it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3y8uwtxrHo

Yes it is a cartoon, but it really helps to boil down the basic truths and keys to understanding the PRIVATE Federal Reserve. All of this information is publicly available, not blog and chat room gossip. The threat of the Fed is real, you can see their dirty work everywhere. But the Fed isn't the all powerful "Legion of Doom" so to speak. That's the NWO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-CrNlilZho

I never said that is where I have gathered all my information from. I shared that video because that seems to get the most response out of individuals. From my personal experience on spreading information.

Yes the truth, history.

Proven is a heavy word here. Not a lot of what you say has actually been proven. And genetically modified crops are extremely diverse. It's a blanket term and like for every other topic, generalizing is not a good thing. Crops have been tinkered with for a very long time. Long before people even knew about genes. This is why we can be so many on this planet, because plant breeding resulted in a dramatic increase of food production.

Although nothing is certain, at this point I'm pretty sure Obama has it in the bag again. I imagine it will be a landslide since Romney and Ryan can't seem to get it together, nor can they pull anyone in outside their own party. Hell, they're LOSING people from their own party. Plus, there's already several party members who are working on the 2016 election.

Oh, and the voter fraud things in almost every swing state didn't really help, either.

The thing is, as soon as Romney finished off the primary's, Obama's second term was a gimme. Your right about the party defections, a lot of conservatives really don't like Romney(me included). That's why during the primary's, it seemed like Fox News had a new darling every two weeks. Bachmann, Gingrich, Santorum, Perry, Cain. They were practically begging someone to beat Romney. Many of those voting for him are doing so cause they just want Obama out of office. He's what political guys call a RINO, Republican In Name Only.

I'm personally not going to vote for either this year.

I would still vote for the rest of the people on the ballot, if your state offers it.

After the latest jobs report, Obama is probably going to make up for the lackluster debate the other night.

Also, Romney pretty much gave himself enough rope to hang himself with. He went on the offensive and spouted out too many falsehoods.

Did you know that…patients who had a group pray for them, even without their knowledge, show positive effects by healing faster or better in 57% of studies?

If group prayer can heal people, it can change an election.

But has something like this ever been tried before?

Yes.

You'd be speaking Turkish now if it hadn't worked.
